sentinel project is an implementation of effective remote promiscuous detection techniques. For portability purposes, the sentinel application uses the libpcap and libnet libraries.

Sentinel usage:

./sentinel [options] [methods] [-c < x.x.x >] [-f < filename >] [host] methods:

-a arp test
-d dns test
-e icmp etherping test

Options:

-c < x.x.x > class c to scan
-f < file > file of ip addresses
-i < device > network interface
-n < number > number of packets to send

Example usage:

# ./sentinel -aed -c 10.2.2
sentinel will scan the class c 10.2.2 and test each machine against the arp,
etherping and dns tests.
# ./sentinel -aed -f ./ips
sentinel will read ip addresses from the ips file and test each machine
against the arp, etherping and dns tests.
# ./sentinel -aed 1.1.1.1
sentinel will test 1.1.1.1 for the arp, etherping and dns tests.

GNet is a network library. It is object-oriented, written in C, and built upon GLib. It is intended to be easy to use and port. It supports abstract Internet addresses, TCP, UDP, IP Multicast, IPv6, asynchronous DNS lookups, SHA, MD5, Base64, URIs, and SOCKS.
It comes with documentation and examples.

The Posadis Zone Editor is a graphical tool to edit DNS (Domain Name System) zones using DNS update.

Because it uses zone transfers, you can simply edit the DNS zone, and have only the changes transferred to the DNS server.

MyDNS is a free DNS server for UNIX. It was implemented from scratch and is designed to serve records directly from an SQL database (currently either MySQL or PostgreSQL).
Its primary objectives are stability, security, interoperability, and speed, though not necessarily in that order.
MyDNS does not include recursive name service, nor a resolver library. It is primarily designed for organizations with many zones and/or resource records who desire the ability to perform real-time dynamic updates on their DNS data via MySQL.
MyDNS starts and is ready to answer questions immediately, no matter how much DNS data you have in the database. It is very fast and memory-efficient. It includes complete documentation, including a manual and a FAQ.
MyDNS supports a few frills, including round robin DNS, dynamic load balancing, and outgoing AXFR for non-MyDNS nameservers.

Enhancements:
- Changed PostgreSQL connect error message code. It will still try the Unix domain socket (not sure why I did that) but if all fails, it outputs the first error message, which is much more likely to make sense.

- Fixed "undefined constant" and other strict error message stuff in contrib/admin.php.

DNSDusty is my answer to the above problems that I saw in existing web-based DNS management tools.

All updates to DNS are done through the dynamic DNS interface, using signed updates. There is no external database. It simply does a zone transfer when it needs to get a listing of records.

It has worked well for me so far on my home DHCP/DNS server, which uses the ISC BIND and DHCP server. It has very basic functionality at this point. You can add records one at a time, and can delete them via checkboxes.

Installation:

DNSDusty comes set up to be installed according to the Debian packaging guidelines. The sources also come with an EPM listfile. If you have the EPM program installed (see http://www.easysw.com), then you should be able to package the software by running:

% epm -v -f native dnsdusty

Once you generate the package, install it with your OSs installation tool.

Youll then need to modify the config file, which is by default at etc/dnsdusty/dnsdusty.conf.

The config file should only be writable by root, and only readable by the user that your webserver runs as. Since it contains the key to allow updates to your webserver, make sure that you secure it well, unless you want the world to be able to update your server.

morigin email classifier is a filter that classifies and tags email messages based on the DNS information of the system submitting the mail to your organization.

morigin email classifier can then be used to improve upon existing spam filters such as SpamAssassin.

WebDhcpDns is a Web interface for managing DHCP/DNS configuration on a network split into different VLANs.
WebDhcpDns manipulates isc-dhcpd3 and mydns configuration to assign machines to specific VLANs according to their MAC address.
It was made to allow administrators to delegate the DHCP/DNS configuration to temporary administrators without giving them direct access to the servers or the configuration files. LDAP authentication is also available.
WebDhcpDns program is licensed under the gpl GPL. Developed by Easter-eggs for the INHA.

GResolver is a graphical DNS query tool. GResolver project allows system administrators to quickly and easily make the most common DNS queries without constructing lengthy dig commands.
GResolver supports all the main resource record types, including AAAA, AXFR, MX and TXT, and the appropriate in-addr.arpa address is constructed from dotted-quad IP addresses when doing PTR queries. There are checkboxes for controlling the most commonly-used options.
GResolver requires Gtk2-Perl, Locale::gettext and Net::IPv6Addr from CPAN, and the dig program from BIND (its in the bind-utils package on Red Hat/Mandrake/Fedora, dnsutils on Debian and the bind-tools package on Gentoo).
