LZO is a data compression library which is suitable for data de-/compression in real-time. This means it favours speed over compression ratio.
LZO is written in ANSI C. Both the source code and the compressed data format are designed to be portable across platforms.
Main features:
- Decompression is simple and *very* fast.
- Requires no memory for decompression.
- Compression is pretty fast.
- Requires 64 kB of memory for compression.
- Allows you to dial up extra compression at a speed cost in the compressor. The speed of the decompressor is not reduced.
- Includes compression levels for generating pre-compressed data which achieve a quite competitive compression ratio.
- There is also a compression level which needs only 8 kB for compression.
- Algorithm is thread safe.
- Algorithm is lossless.
Enhancements:
- Changed the configure system to install the LZO library under the name "liblzo2" so that parallel installation with LZO v1 is possible.
- Improved auto-configuration in miniLZO for some embedded targets like Blackfin and H8/300 processors.

SMC non-context E-mail filter - is an software application designed to significantly reduce the amount of SPAM/UCE (junk-mail) you receive. SMC uses a dynamic local and DNS based remote "whitelists" (for known/trusted senders), DNS based "blacklists" (for undesired senders), and an original "autoauthentication" system (for unknown, but legitimate senders).
In additional SMC has a set of useful features which allows to preserve mail recipients from dangerous message attachments, HTML includes. SMC is an Sendmail milter (plugin), which stops the junk-mail without receiving one.
SMC uses 3 original algorithms, one of which is "Check relay by NS" simulates a dynamical whitelist and will always accept the messages from mail systems satisfying to following conditions:
1. Mail domain name (the host part of the senders e-mail address) must have an MX records;
2. Mail domain name and the connection host address must be resolved;
3. Connection host must be listed at the one of nameservers which hold the senders mail domain name.
The second from the developed algorithms is a "check delays" algorithm which is based on statistical check of delivery delays, generated by a [tempfail] return code, that allows to exclude a direct receiving of a mail, which not passed through the standard mail server.
NOTE: Using this feature the delivery of the mail from unknown, but legitimate senders will be delayed for a count of 10-minutes checks, which setted by the "maxcount" configuration parameter.
And the third of original algorithms is "auto-authentication" algorithm: The sender of a "mail contact" (sender-recipient pair) means as authenticated (whitelisted) if the filters statistics module has registered the both of a sended forward (request) and a recieved backward (reply) messages of this contact. The messages from the such authenticated senders will never be delayed by the previous "check delay" algorithm.
Enhancements:
- CLOSE_WAIT problems have been solved (a critical bug).
- There is a critical bugfix to prevent DNS storms.
- All of the resolver functions use the local resolver context.
- Automake and autoconf support have been added.

Tagspam is a program which adds the word: SPAM into the subject line of a mail message which it identifies as spam. Identification is done by tracing Received: mail headers to identify the origin. The origin is then looked up in DNS black and whitelists.

With version 0.4 CSV processing based on CSV/CSA v.1 (draft-ietf-marid-csv-csa-02) is also included ( using pyCSV.py # csv-0.3x.py David MacQuigg (c) 8/19/05 ), enabling domain owners to publish records enabling forgeries claiming mail HELO greetings misusing their domain to be rejected.

Tagspam is useful for situations where you need to filter spam to individual users and where you dont have the ability to tag the spam at the MTA (Message Transport Agent) e.g. due to virtual hosting arrangements, or because you need to use a backup MX mail relay for when your own server is down which you dont administrate yourself, to improve mail delivery.

Other situations where tagspam is useful include where you wish to test a DNS blacklist to see if it tags spam accurately, but are not willing to risk message rejection based on this blacklist.

Alternatively, if like me you receive very many spams each day, you might decide to use very low false-positive probability DNSBLs at the MTA rejection level, and more agressive DNSBLs at the tagging and filtering level in order to achieve an acceptable level of mail filtering.

You should do this only if you are willing to risk delayed viewing of occasional false positives in filtered mail directed to a spam folder which you check manually, but more occasionally and faster than messages in your normal inbox.

Tagspam is written in Python, and can be run on the Unix/Linux computer running the MTA or a machine using a mail alias or on similar machine which uses fetchmail to obtain mail from a POP server, and sendmail to distribute the mail locally.

wac is free and licensed under the General Public License that you can use it, modify it at your convenience.

The Zaval Proxy Suite is an easy-to-use solution that allows monitoring TCP-based protocols, such as HTTP, NNTP and others. It is extremely useful in software development and can be used as a debug tool. Another area of appliance is multiple connections logging with proxy facilities. As soon as its a pure java solution it can be used almost everywhere.

The Zaval Proxy functions as a proxy and transfers data between the server and the client writing incoming and outgoing traffic into log files. So you can see these raw data as is.

On start the Zaval Proxy Suite goes through configuration file and creates the specified number of proxy servers and the shutdown server.

"Proxy server" is a server socket listening on the specified port. When the client is connected proxy connects to the target server and transfers data between them logging entire traffic. On each connection 2 files are created - xxx-input (request data from the client) and xxx-output (response data from the server). The "xxx" means here the sequential number of the connection for the proxy server. The traffic is logged into the separate directory for each proxy.

Shutdown server is needed to close all open connections correctly and close the program.

So, in the particular case you should specify address of proxy server in client application (web browser, for example) and address of the target server in the proxy configuration file. You can create any number of proxy servers that run at the same time, however, they should use different port numbers.

libjackasyn is a library that allows you to use programs written for the OSS sound API with the JACK audio server. libjackasyn is a library that can be used for two purposes.
First it can be loaded via the LD_PRELOAD variable, turning OSS applications automatically into JACK-aware applications.
Second, it can be used to link against the program during build time, making it trivial to turn an OSS aware sound application into a JACK aware sound application in a short time.
libjackasyn got its name from the asynchronous manner in which it communicates with the JACK server, which means by using libjackasyn you will introduce an additional delay exactly the size of one JACK audiobuffer (1024 samples or 44 ms with the JACK default settings).
This delay can be reduced by reducing the JACK buffersize. It should not matter for sound generating applications, but it might introduce phasing effects when doing sound processing.

Command Executor is an amaroK script which execute an internal command (e.g. stop playing) when reaches that entry. Sometimes it is useful to execute some external commands (e.g. shutdown) when playing reached a certain place (e.g. end of album).

This script does the job. If amaroK starts playing a track from the "Shell Command" album, this script executes the comment tag of the track as a shell command.

You need some prepared audio files, with correctly filled tags. There are three .ogg files enclosed for stop playing, shutdown and hibernate the computer.
