Free conversion software for linux

Kemistry is a collection of chemical applications for the K Desktop Environment (release 3.x).

Originally the applications were distributed in a single source package, but currently every application is distributed in a standalone package. The available applications are

* KMolCalc - molecular weight and elemental composition calculator
* KemBabel - a file conversion program based on Open Babel

Ruby Inline is an analog to Perls Inline::C. Out of the box, it allows you to embed C/++ external module code in your ruby script directly. By writing simple builder classes, you can teach how to cope with new languages (fortran, perl, whatever).

Konverter is an easy to use but powerfull KDE video conversion tool. Konverter helps to convert almost every videofile into the most common different videoformats and codecs.

Beside converting, Konverter is also able to scale/crop your videos, change codec details or just changes the audio format of your file.

Also other features like splitting and concat videos, integrated realtime preview are included.

Hermes is a graphics library designed to do a very limited number of things and do them very well. It is also very easy to incorporate Hermes into existing code. Hermes is intended for use either directly in an application program or inside another graphics library.

Released under the Library GNU Public License (LGPL), it is open source and under continual improvement.

All features are implemented using an internal caching system, drastically improving the performance of common operations such as table lookups. In addition, on MMX systems, Hermes can use optimized MMX assembler to further improve performance.

Its portable across many systems:

Linux/FreeBSD: Uses assembler routines on Intel/Intel-compatible architectures
Other UNIX systems: Doesnt use assembler, though it is compatible with big-endian systems
DOS and Watcom C or DJGPP: Uses assembler routines
Windows and Visual C++: Uses assembler routines

Orpie is a fullscreen RPN calculator for the console. Its operation is similar to that of modern HP calculators, but data entry has been optimized for efficiency on a PC keyboard.
Features include extensive scientific calculator functionality, units support, base conversions, command completion, configurable keybindings, and a visible interactive stack.

Tonality is a GUI-driven utility that streamlines the typical Black and White image conversion process. It thumbnails images in B&W for quick preview.
It allows previews based on individual color channels. It also makes adjusting individual channel contributions without changing the overall exposure easy.

Installation:
Extract archive file

Enhancements:
- A SEGV which occurred if clicking was done very quickly in file browser was fixed.
- A problem where typing very quickly could result in some keypresses not being registered was fixed.
- Thumbnail logic was changed to not store scaled images if they are below the minimum icon size.

Iris is a video conversion utility in C++ that works as a front-end to mencoder. Iris Video Conversion Utility can run in command-line or graphical modes and currently supports conversion to DVD MPEG, DivX AVI and VCD MPEG
This software intends to ease video conversion to common formats.
