gcombust 0.1.55
gcombust is a GTK+ frontend for mkisofs and cdrecord. more>>
gcombust is a gui for mkisofs/mkhybrid/cdda2wav/cdrecord/cdlabelgen. Its written in C and it uses the GTK+ widget set. gcombust is a work in progress. The current release is a development release. I try to test it before releasing a new version, but bugs do slip trough occasionally.
If you decide to try it, you should be prepared that you might find bugs, and Id welcome feedback, bug reports, suggestions and fixes. I try to answer all mail, but sometimes it may take a while. gcombust seems quite stable, but remember that its still under development (I suspect it will always be).
Currently the greatest problem with gcombust is the absence of docs arent really any docs for it.
Main features:
- Burning data on the fly from hard drive, without making an image
- cd-to-cd data copy on the fly
- Tooltips to keep you from reading man pages
- Easy creation of iso-images (support for making your own directory hierarchy on the image without the need for copying files/making symlinks, renaming of entries) (currently you can only add dirs/files of your choice to the root level only and not move them around)
- Maximize disk by hinting which directories/files to use (binpacking/knapsack), reads cd size from disk
- Audio CD creation (though audio is not gcombust strong side, you might want to use some other tool for that)
- wav to audio CD
- audio CD to wav
- audio CD direct copy
- Print cd-covers with cdlabelgen (lets you edit label-information taken from image, audio tracks or a directory)
- Multisession support
- Bootable CD support
- Save/Load path selections (for always taking a backup of the same collection of files, etc)
- NLS support
- DnD support

CDfs 2.6.12
CDfs is a filesystem that exports all tracks on a CD as normal files. more>>
CDfs is a file system for Linux systems that `exports all tracks and boot images on a CD as normal files. These files can then be mounted (e.g. for ISO and boot images), copied, played (audio and VideoCD tracks)...
The primary goal for developing this file system was to `unlock information in old ISO images. For instance, if you have a multisession CD with two ISO images that both contain the file a, you only see the file a in the second session if you use the iso9660 file system:
[root@k6 /root]# mount -t iso9660 -o ro /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
[root@k6 /root]# ls -l /mnt/cdrom
total 2
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 2 Aug 8 19:16 a
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 2 Aug 8 19:19 b
If you mount the CD with the cdfs file system, you get the two sessions as files:
[root@k6 /root]# mount -t cdfs -o ro /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdfs
[root@k6 /root]# ls -l /mnt/cdfs
total 33389
-r--r--r-- 1 ronsse ronsse 33503232 Aug 8 19:36 sessions_1-1.iso
-r--r--r-- 1 ronsse ronsse 34121728 Aug 8 1999 sessions_1-2.iso
These files can then be mounted loop back:
[root@k6 /root]# mount -t iso9660 -o loop /cdfs/sessions_1-1.iso /mnt/loop1
[root@k6 /root]# mount -t iso9660 -o loop /cdfs/sessions_1-2.iso /mnt/loop2
and the file a can be accessed in both sessions
[root@k6 /root]# ls -l /mnt/loop1
total 9889
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 10104236 Aug 8 17:34 a
[root@k6 /root]# ls -l /mnt/loop2
total 2
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 2 Aug 8 19:16 a
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 2 Aug 8 19:19 b
The file system also allows you to access data on faulty multi session disks, e.g. disk with multiple single sessions instead of a multi session (for instance created with mkisofs without the proper -C parameters).
Version restrictions:
- Red Book (audio), Yellow Book Mode 1 (data) , Green/White Book Mode 2 / XA Form 1 and Green/White Book Mode 2 / XA Form 2 (data) tracks are exported. Other types will be added in the future. Data tracks are checked for ISO, HFS and boot images. If none of these are found, the data track is exported as `unknown`. This version only exports the first HFS and boot image (anybody seen a CD with more than 1 HFS or boot image?).

QVV Image Viewer 0.19

QVV is image viewer based on TrollTechs Qt Toolkit! QVV is small, simple, handy ( last one is IMO ). However the sources are there -- you can come up with your own opinion.
NOTE: QVV 0.16 AND LATER VERSIONS REQUIRE QT 3.x!
QVV allows you to browse directories with lynx-like interface, view images browse next/prev image while showing image window or in the directory list, multiple image windows and directory browsers can be opened/closed with a single key, panning easy with arrow keys or mouse and few other things as well.
QVV is only few hundred lines of source code and handles as much file formats as Qt does -- JPEG (all sorts of jpegs that jpeglib supports), PNG, GIF, XPM and more..

A GTK+ gui for cdrecord and mkisofs aimed at being easy to use for inexeperienced users.
CD-Mason is yet another GUI frontend for cdrecord and mkisofs. It tries to make CD burning on Linux and other POSIX platforms as easy as possible.
It has been designed with novice desktop users in mind (think Aunt Tillie) that dont want to know about burning modes, sector sizes, ISO-9660 images or even the difference between an MP3 and a WAV music file.
All these subtleties should be handled transparently using a simple dragndrop interface.

Image rotator 0.2
Image rotator can be used to automatically detect and rotate landscape/portrait photos from digital cameras. more>>
Image rotator can be used to automatically detect and rotate landscape/portrait photos from digital cameras.
Currently, only outdoor photos are recognized. Image rotator is a command line tool which uses an artifical neural network to detect the orientation of images. Image reading, scaling, and rotation are done with the ImageMagick library.
Enhancements:
- The --verify option can now be used to decrease the number of false decisions.
- This is done by running the image three times (original, rotated left, rotated right) through the neural network.
- A small memory leak was fixed.

TINA KNOPPIX Live CD 2.0.0
TINA is an open source environment developed to accelerate the process of image analysis research. more>>
TINA is an open source environment developed to accelerate the process of image analysis research.
TINA provides functionality to assist in all areas of image analysis including handling of image, image feature and geometrical data; statistical and numerical analysis of data; GUI development as well as transmission and containment of data.
TINA also provides a range of high-level analysis techniques for both machine vision (3D object location, 2D object recognition, temporal-stereo depth estimation, etc) and medical image analysis (MR tissue segmentation, blood flow analysis, etc).
Now, thanks to the magic of KNOPPIX, you can experience TINA without installing any software. Simply place the CD into the CD drive of any PC and reboot.
Place the CD into the CD drive of any (reasonably modern) PC and reboot. The PC must be able to boot from the CD drive: if your own bootloader or windows starts up, reboot again and check your bios settings (you will probably be prompted to press DEL during startup). On the bios settings screen, check the boot devices: the first should be the floppy drive, the second the CD drive and the third the hard drive (possibly with a fourth option of booting from a network device). Check you motherboard manual for more details.
The KNOPPIX CD contains a live Linux distribution based on Debian, with a KDE 3 desktop. The TINA libraries are in /usr/local/TINA5, and some TINA demos are in /usr/local/Tina5/tina-tools/toolkits/knoppix_tookit (they can be accessedvia the desktop icons).

Harvs Hamshack Hack 06
Harvs Hamshack Hack is a remaster of the KNOPPIX distro for Amateur Radio Operators (Hams). more>>
Harvs Hamshack Hack is a remaster of the KNOPPIX distro for Amateur Radio Operators (Hams).
This project is directed primarily at Amateur Radio enthusiasts (Hams) who have no prior experience with LINUX. Hopefully, experienced LINUX users (perhaps, even a "guru" or two) will give it a spin and offer corrections and suggestions for improvement ... in fact, they are obligated to do so!
The CD contains a complete LINUX-Knoppix operating system and enough software to accomplish the usual tasks we all perform daily from our homes ... web browsing, email, letter writing, etc.
In addition, there is a huge library of programs for our Amateur Radio hobby.
The Hamshack Hack is a "Live CD". As a "Live CD" system, no installation to your machines hard drive is necessary. The whole package will run off the CD by building a "ram disk" in your machines memory. As soon as you re-boot your machine, the LINUX system vaporizes and youll be back with whatever system is installed on your hard drive.
To obtain your very own copy of the "the Hack", you must download the "hamshack.iso" image file and then, using your favorite CD burner (I use K3B on Linux, or Nero on Windows), burn the image to a CD. Pick the "Burn CD Image" option, else youll end up with just another copy of the .iso file. Then, when the smoke clears, youll boot your machine with this new CD.

AFROS Live CD
AFROS Live CD is a bootable CD with a small collection of GNU/Linux software, ARAnyM and the AFROS. more>>
AFROS Live CD is a bootable CD with a small collection of GNU/Linux software, ARAnyM and the AFROS. AFROS Live CD boots and runs completely from CD, does not write anything to the harddrive and so is safe to try out. It is meant as a demo version of ARAnyM/AFROS. It is not the dreamed Installation CD of ARAnyM yet (although it could be modified to work so).
The underlying Linux kernel and related software provide the CD autoboot, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals. ARAnyM plus AFROS provide our familiar and favourite TOS/FreeMiNT/GEM operating environment. Its all integrated seamlessly and after PowerOn boots straight to the Teradesk (GEM desktop).
AFROS Live CD is distributed in the form of a CD ISO image which is the usual way of distributing CDs electronically. The ISO image file can be burnt on a CD-R/RW and so youll get an exact copy of the AFROS Live CD I created on my machine.
AFROS Live CD configuration:
fVDI resolution and/or color depth change: open up the C:FVDI.SYS (double click it and select Edit), locate the "01r aranym.sys mode 800x600x16@72" line, comment it out and uncomment one of the other prepared lines (or just make up your own). Then reboot the AFROS.
The ARAnyM Config GUI is unfinished yet so changes to ARAnyM config must be done outside of ARAnyM in the .aranym/config file. When you quit ARAnyM you should be able to edit the file with one of the supplied GNU/Linux editors (in the future this shouldnt be necessary as I am working on the Config GUI as you read this).
DSL site (AFROS Live CD is based on the DSL) might give you some hints about preserving the changes youve made to the AFROS disk image or ARAnyM configuration (you might also want to read File Restoration -> HowTo in the X11 desktop). Note that this is untested by me and might be dangerous. Try it on your own risk only.

imgSeek 0.8.6
imgSeek is a photo collection manager with content-based query. more>>
imgSeek project is a photo collection manager and viewer with content-based search and many other features.
The query is expressed either as a rough sketch painted by the user or as another image you supply (or an image in your collection).
The searching algorithm makes use of multiresolution wavelet decomposition of the query and database images.
Main features:
- You simply draw a rough sketch of what you want to find and imgSeek displays for you a thumbnail view of the best matches.
- Query images similar to one in your collection by double-clicking on its thumbnail.
- Group your photos by similarity for easy browsing. You may also have them clustered automatically by color, date (group events automatically using an adaptive clustering algorithm for time differences), filename or image features.
- Edit metadata (description, camera, lens, etc) for every image, and use them on the HTML albums generated or for searching photos. You can also use custom metadata fields.
- EXIF and IPTC data found on JPEG/TIFF files are automatically imported. (Read-only support)
- Advanced command-line utility to scan for new files, query for similar images and show image metadata. (You may use it on your cron system for example)
- Transform images or batches automatically: Place text captions, change brightness, contrast, blur, etc. Apply lossless rotations automatically if jpegtran is available.
- Generate HTML albums for the entire collection, a given directory or similarity group
- Advanced keyword searching for metadata.
- Find all duplicate images on your collection with the parameters you specify. (dimensions, filesize, filename, similarity, average luminance)
- Organize and browse pictures in groups with an easy drag & drop interface. You can also perform advanced queries on groups (eg.: show me all images that belong to group A and B but not group C)
- Support for multiple volumes of pictures. You may assign all images on a CD to a given Volume
- Automatic thumbnail generation and caching. Using this standard, which is also used by Gimp, Nautilus/Gnome, Rox Desktop, gThumb and others.
- Remember the way images should be displayed: If you rotate an image 270 degrees, imgSeek will remember it and do the same the next time you view this image.
- Export/Import metadata to/from CSV files and export a batch or your collection to XML files, which can be later parsed by some other tool to generate whatever you want.
- Rename a file or batch of files automatically: Replace strings, convert to upper/lowercase, append a string, create numbered series, etc.
- Add images to the database from a directory recursively.
- User friendly interface that remembers typed queries and drawn sketches for later usage.
- Slideshow for a given directory, whole collection or for a chosen group of similar images. You can also delete and organize images in groups with * hotkeys.
- Browse images by thumbnail and view them on a preview window.
- Browse your system files for images, and bookmark your favorite directories. While browsing, you may query for similar images on your collection.
Enhancements:
- Major speed enhancements and small bugfixes were done.
<<lessThe query is expressed either as a rough sketch painted by the user or as another image you supply (or an image in your collection).
The searching algorithm makes use of multiresolution wavelet decomposition of the query and database images.
