Gamazons 0.83

Gamazons 0.83

Gamazons is a Gnome implementation of the Amazons board game. more>>
Amazons is a game played on a 10x10 chess board. Each side has four pieces (amazons) that move like chess queens (in a straight line in any direction). Instead of capturing pieces like in chess, the game is determined based on who moves last.

Each move consists of two parts. First an amazon moves to a new square and then fires an arrow to another square (the arrow is fired in a straight line in any direction from the square the amazon landed on).

The square the arrow lands on becomes a permenant block for the rest of the game. No one can move over it, or fire an arrow over it. Every turn an amazon must move and fire an arrow, so every turn there is one less square available on the board. Try and block in your opponent or section off a good chunk of the board for yourself.

This is a Gnome 2 app, so that must be installed on your system for it to work. Other than that, from the main directory, type "./configure" to generate the necessary makefiles. Then make, make install to compile and install the game. Then type gamazons to start the game.

Note: Ive heard reports of the ./configure erroring out on RH8 with the following message:
checking for libgnomeui-2.0... Package libgnomeui-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.

Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libgnomeui-2.0.pc to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package libgnomeui-2.0 found
This problem can be fixed by installing the libgnomeui-devel-2.0.3-3 RPM file.

You can set the player settings from the settings->player menu. You can set it to play AI vs AI or whatever you like.

However, I do have a few default option overrides. For instance, when you get near the end of the game and you dont feel like brainlessly moving a bunch of pieces that are already blocked off into their own areas, you can click on "Auto Finish" which will set both players as AI with a 1 second think time. Also, if you get a little tired of waiting for the AI to move (perhaps you set the time to think too long), you can click on the Force Move button and make him move right then.

Things that arent implemented yet are the network and help menus. Also the undo button doesnt do anything yet (although Ive pretty much got the framework to do it).

OSSP val 0.9.4

OSSP val 0.9.4

OSSP val is a flexible name-to-value mapping library for ISO-C variables. more>>
OSSP val is a flexible name to value mapping library for C variables. It is a companion library to OSSP var. It allows one to access C variables through name strings, although the C language does neThomas Lottererither provide such a dedicated facility nor an evaluation construct (which could be used to implement such a facility easily).
In general, this is used for accessing C variables without having to know the actual symbol/address/reference. The typical use cases are in combination with flexible configuration parsing and supporting loosly-coupled DSO-based module architectures.
Enhancements:
- Upgraded build environment to GNU libtool 1.5.20 and GNU shtool 2.0.3 [Ralf S. Engelschall]
- Bumped year in copyright messages for new year 2005. [Ralf S. Engelschall]
- Changes between 0.9.2 and 0.9.3 (04-Apr-2003 to 12-Sep-2004)
- Upgraded build environment to GNU libtool 1.5.8 and GNU shtool 2.0.1 [Ralf S. Engelschall]

OSSP var 1.1.3

OSSP var 1.1.3

OSSP var is a flexible, full-featured and fast variable construct expansion library. more>>
OSSP var is a flexible, full-featured and fast variable construct expansion library. It supports a configurable variable construct syntax very similar to the style found in many scripting languages (like @name, ${name}, , etc.) and provides both simple scalar (${name}) and array (${name[index]}) expansion, plus optionally one or more post-operations on the expanded value (${name:op:op...}).
The supported post-operations are length determination, case conversion, defaults, postive and negative alternatives, sub-strings, regular expression based substitutions, character translations, and padding.
Additionally, a meta-construct plus arithmetic expressions for index and range calculations allow (even nested) iterations over array variable expansions (..[..${name[#+1]}..]..). The actual variable value lookup is performed through a callback function, so OSSP var can expand arbitrary values.
Hint: There is also an ISO C++ derivative of the OSSP var library, named libvarexp. It is based on a development version of OSSP var and hence does not provide exactly the same amount of functionality. But it provides an ISO C++ API and so can be of interest to you if you are programming in ISO C++ (where OSSP vars ISO C API might be too boring for you).
Enhancements:
- Fix some sprintf(3) parameter passing. [Ralf S. Engelschall]

PAUD 2.0.3

PAUD 2.0.3

PAUD is a Linux utility bootdisk. more>>
PAUD (Parted And Utilities Disk) is a Linux utility boot disk distribution. It fits on a single 1.44 floppy disk. It contains mc, parted, and other utilities such as filesystem utilities for ext2, ext3, and Reiserfs. It is great for partition maintenance and for rescue purposes.
The latest version of PAUD (1.0.4) has glibc-2.2.5, kernel 2.4.20, support for up to 4 virtual consoles. Kernel has DMA support (click here for more info on DMA) , SCSI support is not available out-of-the-box but it can be easily implemented.
The kernel has filesystem support for FAT/VFAT, EXT2, EXT3, ReiserFS 3.5, and ReiserFS 3.6 filesystems. Parted supports creating, resizing, copying, and destroying of these filesystem types (please read notes for reiserfs and ext3).
This is a list of all the commands, some of these commands are internal commands of busybox:
busybox commands:
[, ash, basename, busybox, cat, chgrp, chmod, chown, chroot, chvt, clear, cp, cut, date, dd, df, dirname, dmesg, du, echo, env, false, find, free, grep, gunzip, gzip, halt, head, id, init, kill, killall, klogd, linuxrc, ln, logger, ls, lsmod, mkdir, mknod, mkswap, modprobe, more, mount, mv, pidof, poweroff, ps, pwd, reboot, reset, rm, rmdir, sed, sh, sleep, sort, swapoff, swapon, sync, syslogd, tail, tar, test, touch, true, tty, umount, uname, uniq, uptime, wc, which, whoami, xargs, yes, zcat
Other commands:
e2fsck, hdparm, mc, mkreiserfs-3.5, parted, reiserfsck, tune2fs
Notes:
SCSI: SCSI support is not enabled in the kernel, if you wish to use scsi devices with PAUD, you can make a custom kernel and put it on the disk with the rootdisk. The docs section on the PAUD project page will show you how.
ntfs: Many people have asked about NTFS support, specifically the ntfsresize program. I cant fit this on the floppy, but an optional expansion floppy solution will be available shortly.
ReiserFS: mkreiserfs-3.5 can only make reiserfs filesystems version 3.5, if you want to make reiserfs version 3.6, use parted. All other reiserfs functions in parted, including resize, work for both versions. Run reiserfsck --fix-fixable after modifying any paritions from parted, to fix any potential problems.
Ext3: parted cannot create ext3 filesystems, although there is a simple way to do it in PAUD. First create an ext2 partition from parted, then create a journal to convert it to ext3 with tune2fs -j.
hdparm/DMA: DMA isnt enabled by default, hdparm fixes this problem by allowing you to enable DMA using the -d1 option. Using the hdparm disk speed test, i saw an increase in speed from 4.6 mb/sec (default) to 25.2 mb/sec (dma enabled).
mc: mc is a great way of transferring files between filesystems (for Windows/DOS users) or for editing files if you need to. It can also be useful if you ever need to use PAUD for rescue purposes.
mounting: If you get an error when mounting that a filesystem cannot be found on the device, a different filesystem may have been found. Type mount to see if it was actually mounted or not.
Enhancements:
- The kernel was updated to 2.4.20 to support hard drives that are greater than 137GB.

ID3 mass tagger is a portable command-line mass tagger for audio files. more>>
ID3 mass tagger is a portable command-line mass tagger for audio files.
ID3 mass tagger is designed for non-interactively adding, updating or removing meta-information in a number of files with a single command.
It can generate tag fields from the filename and rename files using an intuitive syntax. It currently supports ID3 (1.1) and ID3v2 (2.0, 3.0) tags.
Exemple:
Here are some examples of using id3:
id3 -a "Stallman" -t "Free Software Song" fs_song.mp3"
Add a simple tag to a file.
id3 -d *.mp3
Removes all ID3v1 tags from all mp3s
id3 -g "psych rock" *.mp3
Sets genre to "Psychedelic Rock" all mp3s
id3 -2 -1 -u "*.mp3"
Copy ID3v2 tag to ID3v1 tag in all files.
id3 -a "TAFKAT" -n "%1" -t "%+2" "*. *.mp3"
Update tag fields similar to this;
id3 -a "TAFKAT" -n "01" -t "My Song" "01. my_song.mp3"
id3 -a "TAFKAT" -n "02" -t "Untitled" "02. untitled.mp3"
id3 -2 -f "%a - %t.mp3" blaet.mp3
Rename file to a standard "Artist - Title" format, using ID3v2 values.
id3 -g "alt rock" -a "The Author" -l %1 -n %2 -t %3 "Author - */(*) *.mp3"
Process multiple directories at once.
id3 -g "alt rock" -a "The Author" -m "Author - %l/(%n) %t.mp3"
Shorthand for the previous example.
id3 -a %t -t %a "*.mp3"
Swap artist and title fields in all mp3s.
id3 -D source.mp3 -1 -2 dest.mp3
Copy ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags of source.mp3 to dest.mp3
id3 -D source.mp3 -1u -2u dest.mp3
As above, but only replaces the non-standard or blank fields in dest.mp3 by data from source.mp3.
id3 -2 -rAPIC -s 0 *.mp3
Removes embedded images and padding from all mp3s.
id3 -2 -rAPIC -s 0 -R "*.mp3" "/my documents"
As above, but works recursively on all mp3s in the directory tree starting at /my documents
id3 -2 -q "%| %a - %|Untitled|t || %t || %1 |?" "*.mp3"
Generate a playlist, using the best possible text
id3 -2 -c "Was: %_f" -f "%a - %|Untitled (%#x)|t.mp3" "*.mp3"
Advanced rename. Saves previous filename in the comment field, and renames files without proper tags to;
Unknown - Untitled (01).mp3
Unknown - Untitled (02).mp3
... etc
Enhancements:
- This release adds support for Lyrics3 tags.

SMTP Relay Checker 2.0.3

SMTP Relay Checker 2.0.3

SMTP Relay Checker is a fully configurable, multithreaded open mail relay scanner. more>>
SMTP Relay Checker is a fully configurable, multithreaded open mail relay scanner. It supports scanning of IP blocks, and can print the results to a Web page.
SMTP Relay Checker is intended for Systems Administrators to check IP blocks under their control.
Compilation / Installation
To build SmtpRC please run "make" in the package directory. This will build the package and create the binary "smtprc". To install the package, please run "make install".
By Default, the binary will be installed into /usr/local/bin/, configuration files will be installed under /usr/local/etc/smtprc/ and all documentation files will be installed under /usr/local/share/doc/smtprc/. Please see below for a full list of installed files.
/usr/local/bin/smtprc
/usr/local/bin/gsmtprc
/usr/local/etc/smtprc/auto.conf
/usr/local/etc/smtprc/email.tmpl
/usr/local/etc/smtprc/rcheck.conf
/usr/local/share/doc/smtprc/README
/usr/local/share/doc/smtprc/FAQ
/usr/local/man/man1/smtprc.1
/usr/local/man/man1/gsmtprc.1
Using Smtprc
SmtpRC can be run by specifying options on the command line, or by configuring an "auto configuration" file and letting SmtpRC parse the options from there. The latter is recommended.
When SmtpRC is installed, a example "auto configuration" file is installed in "/usr/local/etc/smtprc/auto.conf". Edit this file, changing the values to suit your specific network requirements and run smtprc with the following option (a full list of options
is detailed below):
"/usr/local/bin/smtprc -j /usr/local/etc/smtprc/auto.conf"
To be sure that a mailserver relays third-party email, SmtpRC will attempt to relay mail to an address specified. It is recommended that this address is a mailbox on the local machine that is being used to run SmtpRC - pop support is a planned feature, but for now, SmtpRC only supports checking local mailboxes (mbox and Maildir). Create a new user account (smtprc), specify the email address for this account, and the local mailbox (on the command line or in the "auto configuration" file), and SmtpRC will attempt to relay emails to this address and check for recieved emails after scanning.
There is also a GUI interface to smtprc (gsmtprc) that is installed in /usr/local/bin. This requires Perl Tk to run.
Enhancements:
- Fixes a race condition between the master and reaper threads.
