matrix_saver 1.0.2
matrix_saver is a FreeBSD screen saver, based on The Matrix. more>>
matrix_saver is a console screen saver for FreeBSD. It is based on Chris Allegrettas "cmatrix" which, in turn, was based on the "code" effect in the movie "The Matrix."
The net effect is a cross between a code listing and rain falling on a window pane.
Installation:
Build it:
cd /usr/src/sys/modules/syscons/matrix
make
make install
Edit /etc/rc.conf and add
saver="matrix"
or replace the current value if one is already set.
In FreeBSD 3.1+ "blanktime" is set to 300 seconds in /etc/defaults/rc.conf. If you want to change this then override blanktime in /etc/rc.conf. You can also adjust it with vidcontrol
as root, f.e.
vidcontrol -t 30
would set it to 30 seconds.
Now either reboot, or load the screen saver manually.
To install it manually:
- Use kldstat to get the ID of your current screen saver.
- Use kldunload -i to unload it; is the ID that you found in the previous step.
- Install matrix_saver: kldload matrix_saver.ko (or look for "saver" in /etc/rc.i386, and do what it does)

podLoadr 1.0
podLoader allows you to load content from the Web or other desktop files onto your iPod. more>>
podLoader allows you to load content from the Web or other desktop files onto your iPod. Later, for example while traveling, you can check out news from any RSS feed, the weather, or the contents of any file from your desktop.
This application uses the "Notes" feature on third-generation or later touch wheel iPods.
Usage:
In Brief:
- Run podLoadr by double-clicking on podloadr.jar after installing the JRE (or run java -jar podloadr.jar from a command prompt)
- Drag & drop files or links onto the "Files & Links" tab. Browsing or manually typing the file name also works.
- Check some news feeds, add weather zip codes and create a notes on their respective tabs.
- Click the run button (ensure that the iPod is connected and enabled in disk mode).
In Detail:
- In order to load a web page or news feed simply do the following:
- Ensure that your iPod is enabled for disk use. To do this in iTunes:
- Select your iPod under Devices in the Source list.
- Click the Summary tab.
- In the Options section of the Summary pane, click the "Enable disk use" checkbox.
- Note that if the "Manually manage songs and playlists" option is enabled, "Enable disk use" is always enabled or turned on.
- Connect your iPod to your computer as you usually do.
- Exit iTunes - just to be safe.
- Ensure that you have a recent version of the Java runtime (either JDK or JRE) from Sun.
- Run podLoadr by double clicking on podLoadr.jar. Alternatively you can open a command prompt and type java -jar podLoadr.jar
- Note that podLoadr.jar itself can be stored on the ipod and run directly from there. Keep podLoadr.jar and podLoadr.ini together.
- Populate the various tabs in podLoadr.
- Add your custom items to the "Files & Links" tab. This can be done in any of the following ways.
- Drag a file from your desktop or Explorer onto the list
- Drag a link from Internet Explorer or Firefox onto the list (by grabbing the icon in the address box)
- Type the full name of a file in the Name box and click on add
- Click on "Add/Browse" and navigate to the file you need and add it to the list.
- Check off the news feeds that you want from the categorized list.
- Enter the ZIP codes of the weather you want separated by commas.
- Double check the ipod tab to ensure that the drive letter is correct. Or if you have multiple iPods then you can change this setting. (If thats too confusing feel free to send the other iPod my way :-)
To view the note, disconnect your iPod, scroll the menu to Extras, and select Notes. Choose the name the file you created and press the Center button to display the content of the file. You can.t edit the file using iPod, but you can delete it or update it whenever your iPod is connected to your computer.
podLoader uses the "Notes" feature of the iPod to support downloading and offline viewing of online content. Such presentations can be used, for example, as directed lessons or self-paced electronic guided tours. Notes is available on iPod models beginning with third-generation iPod (dock connector) models with the touch wheel.

Wmlife 1.0.0
wmlife is a life and death dockapp. more>>
wmlife is a program launcher dockapp.
Wmlife is a dock app running Conways Game of Life (and program launcher). Life is played on a grid of square cells where a cell can be either live or dead. In the rules, you count the number of live neighbours for each cell to determine whether a cell lives or dies;
Birth A dead cell with exactly three live neighbours becomes a live cell.
Survival A live cell with two or three live neighbours stays alive.
Overcrowding / Loneliness In all other cases, a cell dies or remains dead.
Normally Life is implemented on an infinite board but due to size restraints wmlife implements the grid as a torus. In a torus, the grid wraps at the edges from top to bottom and left to right.

DupeFinder 1.0.2
DupeFinder is a simple application for locating, moving, renaming, and deleting duplicate files in a directory structure. more>>
DupeFinder is a simple application for locating, renaming, moving and deleting duplicate files in a directory structure.
Its perfect both for users who havent kept their hard drives very well organized and need to do some cleaning to free space, and for users who like to keep lots of backup copies of important data "just in case" something bad should happen.
Main features:
Although DupeFinder is a quite small application, it should have all of the features you will need to remove and reorganize large directories full of duplicate files:
- Well designed graphical interface with full tooltip and "Whats This?" question button support, useful in an application which you probably wont need to use frequently
- Quick processing by eliminating analysis of unwanted data through file extension filtering
- View files in external applications by double-clicking
- Rename files in place or move to new locations
- Default settings disallow deletion of all copies of duplicate files to prevent accidental data loss
- Generate simple reports identifying groups of duplicate files for later processing
While everything works pretty well in most cases, there are a few issues with DupeFinder to be aware of. I hope to fix most of the following bugs sometime soon:
- May crash if files containing "~" or ":" characters are encountered
- May crash if self referencing symlinks are encountered
- Zero byte files cannot be deleted
- May not be able to delete files with Unicode characters in filename
- Display does not update if identified duplicates are moved, renamed or modified external to DupeFinder

Filelight 1.0
Filelight allows you to understand exactly where your diskspace is being used. more>>
Filelight allows you to understand exactly where your diskspace is being used by graphically representating your filesystem as a set of concentric segmented-rings.
Filelight creates a complex, but data-rich graphical representation of the files and directories on your computer. An example of Filelights representation of KDEs disk usage is shown below. It is important to understand that the full circle represents 143MB, and there are 143MB of files contained recursively in the directory.
Segments are sized relative to the files they represent. Directories have child-segments that represent the files in that directory. Hovering over any segment gives you details about the file it represents, such as its size.
The net-result is something similar to KDirStat, however the data is more dense, and the representation more informative. Most people tend to use Filelight to find out where their diskspace is concentrated, and this is what it is mostly designed to do.
Filelight is released under the GNU General Public License.

amarokVis is a KDE applet for libvisual using opengl.
Orginally written to work with amaroks libvisual socket however due to some limitations I just made the input default to alsa.
So any app piping sound through alsa will make the visuals dance. I was going to change the name but meh, not a big deal.
Usage:
Just add it to a panel and watch the fun. If you click the visualization itll bring up a popup box to select from available plugins.
Pretty simple and straightforward.
Beware though some plugins(actors) tend to be buggy and are likely to crash your kicker.
If that happens just restart your kicker and choose another plugin that doesnt.

LuBu OpenMagic 1.0
LuBu OpenMagic is an enhancement of the Solaris OpenStep 1.1-sparc desktop enviroment. more>>
LuBu OpenMagic is an enhancement of the Solaris OpenStep 1.1-sparc desktop enviroment.
It is not a rewrite, nor is it a re-release, but is a package that enhances and improves (and includes) Solaris OpenStep 1.1.
LuBu OpenMagic is only available for the SPARC architecture.
LuBu OpenMagic 1.0 is a heavily modified version of the Lighthouse OpenStep 1.1
release for the Sparc platform. It is not a theme, nor a reconfiguration, but
an almost pure rewrite of non-binary files (runtime configurations, application
definitions, enviroment variables, and many functions). In some parts entire functions
have been replaced features have been added. This applies primarily to the Wrapper
function which has been entirely rewritten to use the LuBu OpenMagic Alert System
(aka: LOAS). This is a completely new feature which among many other things also
produces error messages in human readable form, with the actual cause of the error.
This makes taking countermeasures and avoiding future errors easier. The default
application definitions provided with OpenStep 1.1 were the cause of countless bugs,
and I have spendt a great amount of time optimizing the default defs. There are still
a few bugs for which I have found no workaround, but non are critical.
OpenMagic 1.0 will only run on Sparc CPUs since it is based on Solaris OpenStep 1.1 for Sparc. There is not, nor will there ever be, a release for any other CPU. Since
LuBu OpenMagic 1.0 is based on the binary Solaris OpenStep release, it remains a
Solaris Sparc product. There are no known binaries for other CPUs or operating
systems. It does however fully integrate the Solaris Operating Enviroment, Common
Desktop Enviroment, and any other enviroments that run on Solaris Sparc. This makes it alot easier to integrate applications into the OpenStep enviroment without the need of porting.
LuBu OpenMagic 1.0 is packaged as a pure gzipped tar file, intended for unpacking
from the root directory (ie: / ). This means that the default installation directory for OpenStep should be /usr/openstep - it is importent that this rule is followed, else the installation will fail and the distribution will not function at all. It is however possible to extract to a different directory and create a symlink to /usr/openstep. Just remember to copy the etc/dt/config files to their desired location (/etc/dt/config). This is needed as there are some additional files included in order for LuBu OpenMagic 1.0 to function correctly:
1. A modified /etc/dt/config/Xservers file with -dpi 72
2. Configuration files for dtlogin (in /etc/dt/config/*.os|*.xpm)
3. Icons for /cdrom and /floppy (directories will be created if missing)
For an optimal installation:
$ su -
# cd /
# gtar zxvf /path/to/lubu_openwb-1.0-sparc.tgz
Make sure that all the files are extracted, and that existing files ARE overwritten! This will NOT reduce system security or in any other way reduce system performance.
Make sure all files in /usr/openstep are owned by bin:bin else you will loose alot of functionality! There is NO NEED for ANY of the files to be owned by root (other than possibly Preferences.app/set_password which is initially broken due to a missing library - see KNOWN_BUGS).
If you must chown /usr/openstep, then it is a good idea to cd to /usr before running chown -R in case you are using a non-standard chown. Worst case scenario is that a chown -R from / chowns your entire system bin:bin! Better safe than sorry.
# cd /usr
# chown -R bin:bin openstep/
If you extracted OpenStep to a different location, then cd to that location before running chown
# cd /path/to/your/installation
# chown -R bin:bin ../openstep (provided you actually are in the openstep directory)
Make sure the following line is present in /etc/dt/config/Xservers:
:0 Local local_uid@console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :0 -nobanner -dpi 72
(this is however included in the distribution files and should be installed upon
extraction). For optimal performance it is best to run your display at -depth 24 -dpi 72
This file (Xservers) should be -rwx-xr-x otherwise run
# chmod 755 /etc/dt/config/Xservers
It is vital that dtlogin is restarted after installation. Exit your windowmanager, login as root to the system console, and run the following commands (as root):
# sh /etc/init.d/dtlogin stop
# sh /etc/init.d/dtlogin start
Now log out from the console and allow the dtlogin loginwindow to reappear.
Select "LuBu OpenMagic 1.0" from the session menu. Log in and enjoy!
It is however possible to run LuBu OpenMagic 1.0 without CDE installed, or without running it through dtlogin by simply starting the file /usr/openstep/bin/openstep:
$ sh /usr/openstep/bin/openstep
though you might loose some valuable configurations using this method.
It has not as of yet been tested thouroughly.

$ su -
$ sh /usr/openstep/bin/openstep
though you might loose some valuable configurations using this method.
It has not as of yet been tested thouroughly.
