FUPlayer is a music manager/player/ripper/burner. more>>
FUPlayer is a music player/manager/ripper/burner.
FUPlayer is a full featured music manager and player for the GNOME desktop. With it, you can play music from your hard drive, create playlists, do real file management using its Trash, and play, rip, and burn audio CDs.
It features an interface similar to those of many modern manager-style players, but with many improvements, such as true non-modal search and browse functionality, find-as-you-type, and drag destination highlighting. It aims to be extremely user friendly and efficient to use.

DreamPlayer 0.2.5
DreamPlayer is a Linux-console multi format player. more>>
DreamPlayer is a Linux-console multi format player. Its the first Linux console multimedia player supports TwinVQ, and Wave (for now). There is planned version for Windows in the future. Player uses free decoder library known as TwinVQ SDK by NTT.
You probably have a question Why Ive decided to write a text console program. The answer is very simple. As you can read in About Me I just love to listen music, especially during working. I use TwinVQ for collecting music - because of smaller file size - I thought that all over the world there are many people who would do like me.
Yes, I know there is a Linux native multimedia player called XMMS working in the X Window environment. But X Window uses much more resources than my program, and XMMS arent better. So I wanted to create a small player with big abilities. The first: I did by using text console environment, the second: Im on ncurses based interface to make the player more useful. Additionally my player is available as freeware on the GNU GPL and as an Open Source. So you can use my code, change as you wish, but just write that the original code is mine

KXplayer 0.2 pre1
KXplayer is a very simple media player, based on xine. more>>
KXplayer is a very simple media player, based on xine. Its my hobby-project - just a way to get a better knowledge of KDEs internals.
Besides I wanted to learn programming C++ and since I believe the best way to learn programing is to write a program, I just made my mind to write a multimedia player.
Since it is a player, this word had to be in present in the title. The K and X appered there because of KDE (interface) and XINE (backend).
I took the decision to write a player because I needed one. I needed a good media player for KDE (something like XMMS with KDE inderface), which would be working as reliably as possible.
At present my PC is a 750MHz Duron with 128MB RAM and its almost imposible to work in OpenOffice.org and listen to MP3/OGG at the same time. Running XMMS and OpenOffice 1.x together on my Mandrake results in sound fragmentation.
For some time Ive been using boombox (you can find it in kde-apps). It is based on xine and I found it working better than xmms - almost no fragmentation. Unfortunately boomboxs interface is a bit strange (IMHO) and its not saving the equalizer settings (very annoying).

Ixion media player 0.2
Ixion is a media player that uses wxWidgets and GStreamer. more>>
Ixion is a media player that uses wxWidgets and GStreamer. Its is just a simple video player that can play at double or half speed. It can be useful as an example of how to write a simple app based on wxWidgets and/or GStreamer.
Ixion is a media player written in C/C++ using wxWidgets and GStreamer. It is not a bleeding edge, full-featured, eye-candy, all-in-one application; Ixion exists only because I needed a video player that could play at double or half speed. However, it can be useful if you want to see how to write a simple app based in wxWidgets and/or GStreamer. Source code is available for download under the GPL license.
You can download the source code from the downloads section. It will compile on most *nix systems ig there are the required libraries, including GNU/Linux.
Alternatively, you can get the source code using anonymous CVS access:
$ cvs -d:ext:anonymous@cvs.lug.fi.uba.ar:/cvsroot/ixion co ixion

Blind MP3 Player 0.2.2
Blind MP3 plays audio files using an AUI (Audible User Interface). more>>
Blind MP3 plays audio files using an AUI (Audible User Interface). Speech synthesis announces where in the filesystem a user is, and controls are used to browse the filesystem and select files to play. It is ideal for people who want an MP3 player and dont want to have to look at it.
In essence, BMP3 is an AUI (Audible User Interface) for playing audio files. It supports selecting single files or directories for playing with an audio file player. Navigation is controlled by keys commonly found on a NumPad and feedback is given by the program using speech synthesis programs such as rsynth or festival. To support real-time operation, if festival is installed all the names of files in the song directory are cached each time BMP3 is started.

aeon is a music player that is meant to look nice and have an interface that is as easy to use as possible.
In contrast to BMPx it is entirely library based, which means you cant add individual files to it, but you have rather to add them to the library beforehand.
You can only play files from the library (akin to RhythmBox/iTunes).

GNUdap is a project to build a userspace driver to interface Linux with proprietary-protocol USB MP3 players more>>
GNUdap is a project to build a userspace driver to interface Linux with proprietary-protocol USB MP3 players and mass storage devices. Currently GNUdap supports the CHIC MP10, CHIC MP30, CHIC Symphony from "Perstel,Inc." and the NGS Jogger from the NGS Technology.
GNUdap is also an experiment to test the advantages of a strongly-typed programming language and of the functional programming paradigm in hardware developing. In fact GNUdap is developed using the Objective Caml programming language.
To access the devices, we use camlusb, an ocaml binding to libusb, wich is an library which works in userspace to access usb devices.
A shell, which supports the main features of the player, is provided. Besides being done for linux, unlike the original program provided with the MP10, this software is interesting because it has additional features (like being able to transfer mp3s directly to the pc, and to change the playable status of a file on the DAP), not present in the official one. A graphical frontend and a filesystem interface are planned.
To find more informations about the protocol, the driver and the shell visit the Documentation Page
Enhancements:
- chic.sh: Corrected the DIR variable
- added documentation
