Platform Independent Petri Net Editor 2.1

Platform Independent Petri Net Editor 2.1

Platform Independent Petri Net Editor is a tool for creating and analyzing Petri Nets. more>>
Platform Independent Petri Net Editor project (PIPE) creates and analyses Petri Nets quickly, efficiently, and effectively.

A key design feature is the modular approach adopted for analysis, enabling new modules to be written easily and powerfully, using built-in data layer methods for standard calculations.

Six analysis modules are provided, including Invariant Analysis, State-Space Analysis (deadlock, etc.), and Simulation Analysis and Classification.

PIPE adheres to the XML Petri net standard (PNML). The file format for saving and loading Petri Nets is extensible through the use of XSLT, the default being PNML.

OS Independent Atomic Operations 1.00 revision 1

OS Independent Atomic Operations 1.00 revision 1

OS Independent Atomic Operations is a project that intends to develop an OS-independent atomic operations macro library. more>>
OS Independent Atomic Operations is a project that intends to develop an OS-independent atomic operations macro library with a common API for the C programming language as a cross-platform alternative to the uncoordinated efforts by OS developers.
As multi-core CPUs and multi-processor computer systems become more and more common, efficient synchronisation between concurrent execution units becomes more important. Atomic operations, that is operations which cannnot be interrupted, are needed to implement semaphores, reference counters and lock-free algorithms.
Operating systems generally provide atomic operation macros but there is no common API and no coordination between vendors and developers of different systems. Thus library and application developers are facing a dilemma. They can take advantage of one of the existing APIs for atomic operations but their software will then be tied to a particular operating system.
Enhancements:
- The initial release contains the Common AO API draft and a skeleton macro library.
- To complete the macros, the project will need contributors with inline assembly skills for various CPU architectures.

File system investigator 1.0.3

File system investigator 1.0.3

File system investigator is a forensic filesystem viewer. more>>
FileSystem Investigator is a platform independent file system viewer and data extraction tool. It allows the user to:

* View the contents of the target file system in a forensicly safe manner, bypassing the normal operating system mechanisms.
* Extract files and whole directory trees of files from the source filesystem.

Since it is written in platform-neutral Java, it can be used to examine filesystems outside their native environment. For example, it can be used to view a Linux filesystem while running under Windows.

FileSystem Investigator directly accesses the source disk and processes the data using it own built in filesystem drivers. This ensures that it is safe to use FileSystem Investigator for forensic investigations.

FileSystem Investigator will never write to the source media thus important timestamps are preserved. FileSystem Investigator can also read disk-image files such as those created by dd.

Files and whole directory structures can be extracted easily from the source drive and stored for further use or analysis. Due to limitations imposed by Java, special files such as device nodes, pipes, sockets and links, cannot be extracted.

Brutus 1.1.27 (evolution-brutus)

Brutus 1.1.27 (evolution-brutus)

Brutus is an Open Source connector for Exchange 5.5, 2000 and 2003, to put it short. more>>
Brutus is an Open Source connector for Exchange 5.5, 2000 and 2003, to put it short. Our aim is to scratch one of the most annoying itches that the Open Source community have endured. This particular itch has been experienced for almost a decade.
The problem that we are addressing is the problem of platform independent access for client applications to Microsoft Exchange from version 5.5 onwards.
Our solution to this problem will enable a feature-by-feature compatible Microsoft Outlook replacement for Linux, Microsoft Windows, the BSDs or almost any other platform.
How do we do it?
We have developed a CORBA based framework on top of the Messaging Application Programming Interface commonly known as MAPI.
Our development framework is offering client applications MAPI based access to any MS Exchange server from version 5.5 onwards. We believe that we are providing the Open Source community with a development framework that are superior to any other approach.
Our solution is distributed under the GNU General Public License (commonly known as the "GPL") or a commercial license.
Why do we do it?
We feel that there is a strong customer need for a non-Microsoft client application with full Exchange integration that is feature-by-feature comparable with Microsoft Outlook.
The only technically feasible way to achieve this level of integration is to build a client access framework on top of MAPI.
Out strategy is therefore to provide this framework to the Open Source community free of charge under the GPL and to the any commercial entity under a commercial license.
Enhancements:
- Support for OpenSUSE 10.2 was added.
- brutus-keyring is now used instead of gnome-keyring.
- A thread storm when updating the folder summary is now avoided.

OpenInput is a cross-platform, easy-to-use, portable input handler library, written in C. more>>
OpenInput project is a cross-platform, easy-to-use, portable input handler library, written in C.
The primary goal of OpenInput is to make it easier for application programmers to write portable code that deals with input from mice, keyboards, joysticks and other devices.
In other words, OpenInput will allow you to write a single piece of code that handles input for your application for all platforms, for example GNU/Linux, Windows and MacOS X.
This is achieved by abstracting the low-level platform-specific input device handling into a stable, intuitive, platform-independent API: OpenInput.
Main features:
- Total platform independence
- Easy to use, sane and simple API
- Fully documented functions and data structures
- Automatic configuration of available devices
- Generic event handling
- Keyboard state managment (eg. up/down/lock)
- Mouse motion and state managment (eg. movement, buttons up/down)
- Joystick motion and state handling for axes, hats and trackballs
- Can "hook" into existing windows
- Provides resize, iconify, close and expose events for the application window
- Action mapping, so events can be handled without any knowledge of the underlying device
- Pointer (mouse) grabbing inside window
- Show/hide pointer inside window
- Keyboard focus grabbing
Enhancements:
- This version contains major documentation updates, both big and small bugfixes, and minor feature enhancements which dont break the API.

This is useful in distance learning, meeting, conferencing, and other situations.
It uses bitmap images to avoid compatibility problems. Other features include platform independence and simplicity.
Main features:
- Bitmap image based presenting: Hence we have no compatibility problem related to character corruption, locale, font, ... You can (and you must) use an authoring tool (e.g., PowerPoint, OpenOffice, MagicPoint, etc) to create the slides, then export into images to be presented with JWebPresenter.
- Platform independent: Any system satisfying the requirements should be OK, including Linux PC, Windows PC, PDA Sharp Zaurus SL-C760 (JWebPresenter SS v1.0x).
- Simplicity: I believe simple thing should be done simply. JWebPresenter SS v1.2.1 package (tar.gz) is only 36KB, including source, pre-compiled binarary, document, sample, and a 18KB (uncompressed size) license called GPL!
- Protocol and Image format independent: All protocols and image formats supported by JRE (Java Runtime Enviroment) should be OK.
