- As a command line tool , to give searching power to your scripts.
- Provide a Search facility for your project documentation.
Using
To use Red-Piranha - open your favourite web browser and point it at http://localhost:8080/RP . Within a few seconds , you should see the Red-Piranha start screen. This will have three items of interest
- A Text box , where we enter the information to add or search
- An add information button - to tell Red-Piranha about new information
- A Search button - to carry out a search.
Before we can search , we must tell Red-Piranha we information we are interested in. This is as easy as putting the piece of information we want to add (e.g. the folder c:temp) in the search box and pressing the Add information button. A message will be displayed saying that your information is being added and will be available to search shortly. For more information , look in the logs at TOMCAT_HOMEWebappsRPlogsrp.log
Examples of things we can add to Red-Piranha are
- A folder (e.g. C:Temp). All files in both this folder and *all* its subfolders will be added.
- An individual file. This file can be text , a web page , a word document , or pdf document. For binary files (like word , which are not plain text) , Red-Piranha will scan the file for recognizable text and add that.
- A Web page. Red-Piranha will add this web page , *and* web pages it links to.
- A Google Search (e.g. http://www.google.com/search?q=some+thing?m=100). Red-Piranha will get the results of the google search , and add information on the pages it links to.
- An XML file (including RSS feeds) , either on disk or over the web.
- Favourites / Bookmarks folders - Red-Piranha will index the web pages that these favourites point to.
Adding information can take anything from a few milliseconds , depending on the amount of information being added. Once added, Red-Piranha will check on a regular basis to see if the information added has changed and re-index if required. Your information is now available to be searched.
To do a search , put the item you want to search for into the textbox and press search. Red-Piranha will show the search results on the screen. Clicking on the link beside the search results will show you the original information (as long as you have access to it).
From version 0.3 onwards , Red-Piranha can learn what search results you are interested in an improve your future searches. To give Red-Piranha feedback and help it learn what you are interested in , click on any of the links on the search results page. Red-Piranha makes a note of your choice , which is used to adjust the search results later.

hpanel 0.3.2

hpanel 0.3.2

hpanel is a small panel that lists your windows. more>>
hpanel is a small panel that lists your windows.
Hpanel is hacked version of fspanel, a small panel that lists your windows and allows you to switch workspaces.
It requires a window manager that is compliant with the NETWM specification.
It works nicely with pekwm and aewm++, and handles maximized windows better than fspanel.
Enhancements:
- When the panel is minimized to the right sideit doesnt reserve screenspace for it self anymore. This means windows can be fully maximized.
- This works if the panel is on top or on bottom of the screen.
- This make more sense too me than the original behaviour of fspanel which always reserved screenspace on the bottom of the screen.

paraget 0.3.0

paraget 0.3.0

Many times when one is downloading files from a ftp site, the bottleneck is at the servers end, because the server is handling more>>
Many times when one is downloading files from a ftp site, the bottleneck is at the servers end, because the server is handling many connections, even if the server has a greater bandwidth than the client. Popular programs are often mirrored at several sites, but this does not help the matter much; people tend to congregate at one site anyways.
Given that there are mirror-sites for the file one is downloading, one can in principle accomplish a much greater bandwidth by downloading from all the sites in parallel.
You can speed up your download if you are getting files from different sites in parallel. This is accomplished by dividing the file being fetched into several pieces, and by getting each piece from a different server, and then re-assembling them.
If there are enough mirror sites, this partitioning makes it so that the bottleneck is now placed at the client end, maxing the clients connection.
Hence, we arrive at paraget, a parallel ftp-fetching program. paraget is designed to not only do basic n-equal-piece partitioning of a file and sending requests out to n servers for data, but to also be dynamic during the downloading process. For example if one server is too slow, and paraget was done with faster server downloading its piece
Enhancements:
- Server statistics is now loaded correctly.
- Cleanup of temp files.
- Several undefineds in intervalmanager fixed.
- Now checks for size mismatches.

KKinit 0.3

KKinit 0.3

KKinit is a an applet which lets users request, display and destroy tickets from a Kerberos 5 server. more>>
KKinit is a an applet which lets users request, display and destroy tickets from a Kerberos 5 server. It uses KDE for its interface. It is similar to Cygnuss Kerbnet tool, with several GUI enhancements.

Installation:

./configure [options -- see below]
make
make install (as root)

You will need a set of the Kerberos 5 libraries to link against. You can get these from ftp.replay.com, or http://www.replay.com. This site is in the Netherlands, so its not a breach of US export regs to download it from there.

By default, the configure script assumes that the kerberos stuff is in /usr/athena. If its in a different directory, append the flag --with-krb5=[path to your Kerberos] to the ./configure
instruction.

If you want either SSL capability or password changing capability, youll need to add --with-krb5-src=[path to the source for Kerberos].

It shouldnt need to be this way, but the include files for the kadmin interface are not installed by default in the Kerberos include
area.

If you wish to use SSL to authenticate to Kerberos, instead of a password based approach, youll need to have Doug Engerts sslk5 package installed on your Kerberos server (although for this client, the relevant bits of sslk5 have been copied into the source
directory).

Youll also need to have Eric Youngs SSLeay (available from http://www.ssleay.org) libraries installed somewhere on the system. The option --with-ssl=[path to the SSLeay libraries] needs to be added to the configure command).

Obviously, you need the KDE and Qt libraries and headers, but you knew that already, didnt you?

As would be expected, the normal autoconf flags work with configure (--prefix, --with-qt-dir, etc).

Anki 0.3.2

Anki 0.3.2

Anki project was designed to help you remember fact as easily, quickly and efficiently as possible. more>>
Anki project was designed to help you remember facts (such as words and phrases in a foreign language) as easily, quickly and efficiently as possible. To do this, it tracks how well you remember each fact, and uses that information to optimally schedule review times. With a minimal amount of effort, you can greatly increase the amount of material you remember, making study more productive, and more fun.
Anki is based on a theory called spaced repetition. In simple terms, it means that each time you review some material, you should wait longer than last time before reviewing it again. This maximizes the time spent studying difficult material and minimizes the time spent reviewing things you already know. The concept is simple, but the vast majority of memory trainers and flashcard programs out there either avoid the concept all together, or implement inflexible and suboptimal methods that were originally designed for pen and paper.
Ankis primary target is people studying Japanese, and Japanese native speakers studying English. However, it can be used to remember anything at all, and there are some users who are studying Chinese and possibly other languages with it.
Enhancements:
- This release has a display bugfix for Qt 4.3, and a number of new features.
