Ciberia Content Federator 1.0

Ciberia Content Federator 1.0

Ciberia is a free blog aggregator, or content federator, that allows anyone to create a Ciberpunk.com style site. more>>
Ciberia is a free blog aggregator, or content federator, that allows anyone to create a "Ciberpunk.com style" site in just five minutes.

You only need to have PHP installed on your server, and can change the appearance with CSS.

Instructions for installing Ciberia:

1. In data/uris_ciberguests.php and data/uris_members.php files, write the proper URIs from the blogs feeds
from member and guest blogs (left and right columns respectively), the path in the server from the install directory
and the e-mail adress where readers can write you.
2. In /graphics directory, save the pictures of members and guests as member_1.png, member_2.png ... and guest_1.png
etc. just in the same order you saved the URIs in step 1. We recommend 50x60 pixels.
3. Upload it all to your server and check that directories have write permission only for the program, not for the readers.
Be careful also with update.php: readers should have read permission only for that file.
4. Run install.php from your browser by typping http://www.yourdomain.any/install.php in the direction bar.
5. Dont forget to delete install.php after installation is finished!
6. Personalize style.css to modify the final view of the website. If you want to add banners or sections, you will must modify update.php

How Ciberia works:

The program updates its cache every 10 minutes, dont panic if your post does not appear inmediately on front.

Modest Ordinary Differential Equation Library 1.0.3

Modest Ordinary Differential Equation Library 1.0.3

Modest Ordinary Differential Equation Library is a C++ library to model rate equations. more>>
Modest Ordinary Differential Equation Library is a C++ library to model rate equations.
MODEL is a numeric simulation library written during my PhD to simulate systems of rate equations describing Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs). I decided to write one myself after looking at existing libraries and deciding that they were either too complicated to use (having a target user base of mathematicians) or too opaque (i like to know what the code is doing, exactly).
Since most of my programming before has been done in C/C++, what you see here is a C++ library composed of various interacting classes which have the following main functionalities:
deterministic integration of any system of well-behaved differential equations.
- stochastic integration of these systems, with the possibility of specifying the correlations present in the noise
- nonlinear rootfinder, to find stationary solutions
- eigenvalue determination, for stability analysis
- easy time modulation of input parameters
- diverse data collecting classes for data analysis
- Small signal analysis (first order)
The following will be added RSN:
- Fourier transforms, for spectral analysis (although this can be done in an external program)
- Periodic solution finder
It furthermore provides a numerical vector class, vectorfunction classes, LU solver and random generators.
As I developed it using publicly available resources, GNU/Linux and other GPLed software, I decided that it should be GPL as well. However (Oh no, a "however" ! Lets hope it does not invalidate the copyleft), I would very much appreciate it if you let me know if you have used MODEL in any of your applications/simulations/research and provide a reference (this way, I can refer to your work, too).
At the moment, MODEL has the rather arbitrary version number 1.0. Meaning it is useful. Period. Some interfaces (especially the stochastics) might still change, and I would like to add some ieee floating point exception trapping to avoid silly numerical errors.
Enhancements:
- Add features/limitations/changes here

FASTA to multi-FASTA converter - www.DNABaser.com

This tool will look for all DNA FASTA files in the specified folder and will merge the content in a single file. The output file is automatically saved on the HDD in the same folder as the input files.

Other software by HeracleSoftware:

DNA Baser is an affordable alternative for assembly of DNA sequences and generation of contigs. File formats supported are abi, scf and seq (or FASTA). Chromatograms of the assembled sequences are displayed in a synchronized format with the generated contig. Ambiguous bases in the contig are highlighted and corrections are suggested by DNABaser based on Quality Values of the trace files. Minimum input from the user required. Editing of ambiguous bases, including insertion and deletion, is possible. The settings of the assembly engine can be adjusted by the user. The user can personalize the appearance of chromatograms, nucleotides, background. The Quality Values of the trace files are displayed above chromatograms, so that the user can easily decide on the corrections in the final contig. Original chromatogram files are automatically trimmed based on Quality Values. The contig is automatically saved in FASTA format, in the same directory with the original trace files. By using a built-up database of primer and vector sequences, that can be edited/upgraded by the user, DNABaser can be set to automatically trim the vector sequence out of the final contig.

The affordable price is another important feature of DNABaser, at only 490 USD per single license; significant discounts are offered for institutions that order several licenses of DNABaser (see our pricing policy on our web pages).

Lizard 1.3.0

Lizard 1.3.0

Lizard is a tile-based graphical interface to NetHack and SlashEM. more>>
Lizard is a tile-based graphical interface to NetHack and SlashEM.
Lizard is my own personalized variant of the newt interface. It always shares the latest newt codebase while adding a few of my own patches that increase user experience (in my opinion). Lizard is how I play NetHack or SlashEM.
Additions to Lizard over tha vanilla NE.W.T:
- Dark rooms are a different tile to unexplored rooms. So exploring an area like the gnomish mines is much less painful.
- Passageways are shown. Passageways on the side of corridors are visible. Again this is a change that allows you to better judge which areas you have not yet explored.
- Line of sight, you now have a visible line of sight and are able to easily see which areas might have monsters that you cannot actually see.
- Brads Pit, a minor patch of my own, for amusement value only
- Chess Moves, you can set the speed of monster movement as well as player movement. When set to walk each monster will move individually as if you were watching a move for move animated playback of a game of chess.
- All of the above mentioned changes work for the tty/console view as well.

Pod::HtmlEasy 0.091

Pod::HtmlEasy 0.091

Pod::HtmlEasy Perl module can generate personalized HTML from PODs. more>>
Pod::HtmlEasy Perl module can generate personalized HTML from PODs. By default the HTML generated is similar to the CPAN site style for module documentation.

SYNOPSIS

Simple usage:

my $podhtml = Pod::HtmlEasy- >new() ;

my $html = $podhtml- >pod2html( test.pod ) ;

print "$htmln" ;

Complete usage:

use Pod::HtmlEasy ;

Create the object and set local events subs:

Note that these are all the events, and examples of how to implement
them. All of these events are, of course, already implemented, so if
the actions provided are adequate, no local subs are required.

The actual implementation of on_head1 is somewhat more complex, to
provide for the detection of the module title and insertion of the
uparrow.

my $podhtml = Pod::HtmlEasy- >new (

KMSBII for Slackware 2.1.0

KMSBII for Slackware 2.1.0

KDE Menu Sidebar Image Improvement is a simple improvement for your KDE Menu. more>>
KDE Menu Sidebar Image Improvement is a simple improvement for your KDE Menu that replaces default KDE Menu Sidebar image with one designed specifically for your Slackware GNULinux distribution.
Having say a Slackware or Debian or FreeBSD or any other OS/distribution logo instead of default KDE gear may be a much better choice for those of you who are just in love with your favorite *nix.
Personalized it looks sexy, it looks witty, it stresses the facts.
This project proved to be a little success because people seem to appreciate it.
So, now here we are with updated package again and it is my pleasure to hear from you that youve given it a try.
Enhancements:
- Project structure has been redefined so that it is now template based and extensible. This is basically a first attempt to unify all types of KMSBII presented at kde-look.org.
- Installation script has been dramastically improved; added new features to control the installation process and the ability to perform post-installation actions; run `./install.sh help for more information. The script is quite verbose now and informs user of every action performed in a user-friendly manner;
- Abbreviations of the project related names have been introduced to provide a convenient way to refer to them. See "ABBREVIATIONS" section of `./install.sh help output;
- Graphic source files as well as KMSBI files have been changed once again, changes have been made to achieve the best look of the KMSBI;
- Added KMSBII for Slackware GNULinux distribution v11.0.0;
- Updated documentation.
- Licensing agreement has been introduced to protect intellectual property and rights of its owner. See COPYING file for more details and "Licensing Agreement" section of this file for short explanations on how this licensing agreement works.

Womcat Bookmarks 2.7

Womcat Bookmarks 2.7

Womcat Bookmarks is a project that maintains Web bookmarks in a set of hierarchical folders. more>>
Womcat Bookmarks is a project that maintains Web bookmarks in a set of hierarchical folders.
It can output the bookmarks as an HTML page and as an RSS 2.0 file that can be placed on a Web site.
The RSS file maps folder names into the "category" element. It can download other RSS files, treating them as categorized bookmarks to create a local database of Web bookmarks that can be browsed by subject.
It supports RSS discovery by allowing posting RSS file URLs as new items.
It also acts as a basic RSS feed reader. It also includes a Weak Subscriptions feature, which is a bit like a personalized version of BlogDex.
Main features:
- Womcat Bookmarks are intended to point to other Womcat Bookmarks. Womcat allows for 2 types of RSS items: recommendations and referrals. A recommendation is an RSS item that points to an ordinary web page. A referral is an RSS item that points to another RSS file (which may or may not be generated by Womcat Bookmarks). An XML extension element http://www.womcat.org/:type is used to distinguish between these two possibilities.
- Womcat Bookmarks is subject-oriented. RSS puts subjects in the element separated by forward slashes. Womcat Bookmarks requires that every recommendation be contained in a subject. Subjects can also be contained in each other. So if subject Algebra is contained in subject Mathematics, then the category will be Mathematics/Algebra.
- Although Womcat Bookmarks subjects for one user form a hierarchy, it cannot be expected that different users will have equivalent or even consistent hierarchies. The most that can be hoped for is that different users might use the same titles for individual subjects. Thus Programming Languages/C is not a very good hierarchy, because "C" by itself is potentially ambiguous. Better is Programming Languages/C Programming Language. In effect subjects are globally considered to live in a flat namespace, and their titles should be unambiguous in a global context without any dependence on position in a users hierarchy. The end result is to facilitate merging of Womcat Bookmarks (i.e. RSS data) from different users such that they can be usefully browsed by subject.
- Womcat Bookmarks are considered to be an accumulating collection of bookmarks, not a transient collection of news items, with items only being deleted if they cease to be relevant (or cease to exist). This is problematic when Womcat is used to read RSS files that may or may not be accumulative or transient in intent. I propose to add an extension element to deal with this, along the lines of specifying a period that the file covers, and optionally another link to a different RSS file that covers that period, e.g. "1 month" for a file that only contains links added up to a month ago, "forever" for a file that contains all current bookmarks. This will also be useful as a way for RSS readers not to have to re-read an accumulated bookmarks file that has grown very large.
Enhancements:
- Various improvements to user interface: ability to stop downloads, pre-delete multiple mentions, add more links between objects in pages. Also update versions of libraries used by the application.

Kirocker Music Display 3.4.1

Kirocker Music Display 3.4.1

Kirocker Music Display is an Amaork script that makes your Kicker (the KDE main panel) rock with your music. more>>
Kirocker Music Display is an Amaork script that makes your Kicker (the KDE main panel) rock with your music.
It is a Kicker applet that displays what you listen to in Amarok
You then always know what you are listening to, and watch its cover: it is always visible on your panel.
It allows you to rate your music with one click: you can quickly change the number of stars of your musics from anywhere on your desktop.
To install:
- Extract the archive
- Open a konsole in the extracted folder (in Konqueror, go to the extracted folder and press F4)
- Run this set of command: ./configure --prefix=$(kde-config --prefix) && make && sudo make install
- It will ask your root password to install the applet on your system
- Right click the Kicker, choose "Add an Applet to the Panel..." (once the panel is unlocked)
- Double-click "Kirocker Music Display"
- Start playing a music: the applet is empty when Amarok is stopped or paused, to not annoy you with useless information when you are working

PHPlist 2.11.3

PHPlist 2.11.3

PHPlist is a newsletter manager. more>>
PHPlist is a mailing list and newsletter manager that allows posting via a Web page. PHPlist works well when used for announcements, and can handle very large email address lists. Users can sign up to multiple lists, but will only receive a single copy of cross-posted messages.
When signing up, users can identify their geographical location, and messages can be targetted to these. You can add place holders in your email that will be replaced with personal details (such as the persons name).
Users can update their own information, and unlike many other mailing list systems, they can change their email address. HTML emails are supported.
Main features:
- Posting to the mailinglist is via a webpage. It is therefore a one-way announcements system, directed from you to your audience.
- It is designed to be able to deal with a very large amount of email addresses. If a sending fails halfway, the next process for sending simply continues where it left off, without duplicating emails to users.
- Users can sign up to multiple lists. If a message is sent to multiple lists, they will only receive one copy of the email and not as many as the number of lists they are subscribed to.
- Templates. It is very easy to adapt the public pages of the system to fit into your website. You can upload a header and a footer of all pages to make the pages fit your requirements.
- Attributes. You can specify information you want to get from users when they sign up. When sending a message, you can use this information to select the users that need to receive the message. For example you can add geographical information. When people sign up, they can identify the geographical location theyre in and when sending an email you can determine which locations need to receive the message.
- Multiple subscribe pages. You can design your own subscribe pages and you can have different pages allowing users to sign up to a selection of your lists and only enter a selection of your pre-defined attributes.
- Personalisation. You can use the attributes you define in the emails you send, to make every email personal to the user who receives them.
- PHPlist supports HTML emails. If a user indicates they want HTML email they can receive it that way. If unknown the system has a bias to send text emails to users.
- Multiple List managers. One Super user can assign lists to multiple list managers, who can control their own pool of users and lists. The Super user can "prepare" messages that can be chosen by list managers to send to any of the lists they control.
- Easy import and export. Use TAB delimited files to import your existing list of users or to export the users on the PHPlist system for use in your in-house database.
- Personal Details. Every email a user receives will contain a personalised URL to update the users preferences. This way your users can update their own information and your database is always up-to-date. Unlike most other mailinglist managers users can change their email address when updating their personal details. This is a major benefit to both you and your users as many people often change their email address, and this feature makes sure that they dont disappear from your view.
- Attachments. You can add attachments to your message. They will be included in the HTML emails. The users who receive text will get a special URL mentioned in their email telling them where to download the attachment from your website.
- Batch Processing. To facilitate shared hosting environments, you can specify the maximum number of emails to send in a time period you identify. This can also be overridden by ISPs who can set these values server wide to apply to any PHPlist installation on that machine.
- ISP Friendly. Apart from the limit on values for batch processing that the ISP can enforce, there is an additional option for ISPs to suspend sending during busy times in the day.
- Embargoed sending. You can create a message and tell the system to only start sending it at a certain date and time in the future.
- Repetition. A message can be repeated automatically. Currently this is only useful when the message has "filesystem attachments", because they are refreshed at time of sending.
- User management. You can use several in built tools to handle large databases of users. Users can be reminded to confirm their subscription and invalid emails will be found automatically, or fixed whenever needed.
- Bounce handling. Bounces can be processed and users will be automatically unsubscribed when too many emails to them bounced. This can be corrected by the administrator in case the unsubscription was incorrect.
- Automated PDF creation. To ensure users can read the message regardless of mail reader, the message can be automatically converted to PDF and attached to the email.
- RSS feeds. PHPlist can be set up to read a range of RSS sources and send the contents on a regular basis to users. The user can identify how often they want to receive the feeds. For more information about RSS click here
- Easy install. Just copy the files to your website folder, tell the login details of the SQL database and its done.
Enhancements:
- Click tracking has been improved a bit.
- phplist can now also pre-calculate the (bandwidth) size of a mailout.
- Several other smaller issues were addressed.
