IP Personality 20020427-2.4.18

IP Personality 20020427-2.4.18

The Linux IP Personality patch adds to your Linux 2.4 kernel. more>>
The Linux IP Personality patch adds to your Linux 2.4 kernel the ability to have different personalities network wise, that is to change some characteristics of its network traffic, depending on different parameters (anything you can specify in an iptables rule: src/dst IP address, TCP or UDP port, etc.)
The next characteristics can be changed:
TCP Initial Sequence Number (ISN)
TCP initial window size
TCP options (their types, values and order in the packet)
IP ID numbers
answers to some pathological TCP packets
answers to some UDP packets
They are deeply configurable.
This patch relies on the wonderful framework created by Rusty Russel: netfilter. More precisely, the patch adds a new iptables target (in a kernel module) that can be used in the mangle table with a (patched) iptables. This target is very configurable. See the documentation section for more details on how it works.
The primary objective of this patch is to counter network fingerprinting techniques, as described in Fyodors article.
Fyodor is the author of nmap, the famous port scanner that has a powerful remote OS detection engine. IP Personality can fool current versions of nmap, and is very configurable, so that it can probably fool any similar tool. The patch allows one to emulate the behaviour of any system listed in nmaps list of OS fingerprints. Some of its features can even be applied to routed traffic, and thus disturb scans directed to machines that are behind it. Some features (eg TCP ISN rewriting) can also be used to improve overall network security.
Enhancements:
- net, linux: updated for Linux 2.4.18, fixed all compile warnings and a potential Oops
- doc, misc: updated for latest changes
- email addresses: please note that it should be sourceforge.net

Kana no quiz 1.7

Kana no quiz 1.7

Kana no quiz is a little tool to memorize japanese kana (hiragana & katakana). more>>
Kana no quiz project is a little tool to memorize japanese kana (hiragana & katakana).

The method is quite simple: kana randomly appear and you have to find their transcription in rōmaji (Hepburn). There are several possibilities, but only one anwser is right!

Thanks to this method, you memorize the kana to its transcription, and thus know how to pronouce it!

It has been translated into several languages, and many quiz options are configurable. Kana images have been initially modelled in SVG and are placed under the Free Art License.

Through its option panel, Kana no quiz allows you to tune up
the quiz precisely, like choosing which group of kana you want
to train yourself upon.

First, hiragana and katakana are separated, both are then di-vided into big sets of kana according to their type ("Basic", "Modified", "Combined"; and a special "Additional" set for katakana only) which are thus composed of various portions containing 5/6 kana, following the traditional alphabet order (i.e.: ``ka ki ku ke ko").

According to your need and level, you may select one or more portions of the same or different sets, whole sets, all the kana... Once you feel comfortable (you can check it with the results displayed at the end of each quiz), you may also increase the number of possible answers in the random list, or even choose to answer directly through the text entry. Difficulty can be adapted to your skill: this is progressive learning.

From the complete beginner who has to start easily and learn step by step, to the wizard who just wants to confirm his/her absolute master of the kana, everyone should get satisfated with Kana no quiz!

Hanzi Quiz 0.3.1

Hanzi Quiz 0.3.1

Hanzi Quiz project is a JavaScript multiple-choice Hanzi quiz generator. more>>
Hanzi Quiz project is a JavaScript multiple-choice Hanzi quiz generator.
Hanzi Quiz randomly generates multiple-choice questions from a list containing Hanzi (Chinese characters), Pinyin (pronunciation), and English. Questions and choices can be from any category.
Enhancements:
- With the v0.3.1 release, the choices are even less random: You wont see the answer to the question you just saw as a choice in the next one. Or the one after that. After all, theyd be too easy to eliminate. Towards the end of the quiz I have to start recycling answers, but youre more likely to have forgotten that youve seen them by then.
- The other improvement in v0.3.1 is that it will now work in Mac IE 5+ (although you need to install the appropriate font to get all the pinyin accents). I had no idea that this didnt work until I visited my family this past Christmas. Argh! All these browsers have different quirks. (I hear Hanzi Quiz is hosed on Safari. That wont be fixed for a while.)
- Version 0.3 was an extensive re-write of the prior version (0.2a), using DHTML and Unicode.
- While the 0.3 series is light-years beyond the 0.2a version, it does require a modern browser. Either Mozilla or its commercial variant Netscape Navigator (version 6 or greater), or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or greater will do. It looks like your current browser will work.
- If, for whatever reason, you want to to stick with the older, non-DHTML version 0.2a, you can find it here. I hope everyone will use the shiny new one, though.

RearSite 0.1

RearSite 0.1

RearSite is a simple collaborative Web site manager. more>>
RearSite is a simple collaborative Web site manager. RearSite is an automated Web publishing tool allowing to control who is allowed to access the published documents and also to manage per directories collaboratives tools well adapted to distance learning (forums, chats, shareable calendars, or multimedia quizzes).

An administrator can create users accounts (user name, user passwd, and user home directory), users get logged in and then receive access to their documents.

RearSite is written in PERL (CGI.pm based) and use a FastCGI compliant HTTP server (like APACHE).

Using RearSite is quite simple : after login, the user has access to his home dir and is able to delete, rename, create and edit documents. RearSite is well adapted to install WWW directories previously cooked (using any editors). Its very easy to transfer and install archives (ZIP, tar or tar.gz by now), they are automatically unpacked.

Published documents are public (by default), access restriction may be done using user/password couples, DNS domains or LDAP filters.

The user interface is WWW forms like, so RearSite only needs (on the client side) a Java, JavaScript and frames compliant WWW browser (accepting cookies).

RearSite is now quite secured, the login process (developped in Java) use an MD5 encryption of the user password (combined with a one time key). So, people spying the network cannot use the keys they may have seen. After login, users receive a cookie associated with their computers IP numbers.

RearSite also allows the user to specify who can retrieve his documents by configuring access rights :

documents are public (the default).
documents are restricted to users coming from trusted domains.
documents are restricted to users coming from trusted domains or to HTTP authenticated users.
* documents are restricted to class of users existing in an LDAP directory. This kind of HTTP client authentication needs auth_ldap for Apache (See restricted access by users classes).

Since 1.1, if the administrator wants it, the user is able to use templates to specify per directories access rights. By default (and as an example), the user can easily say that a directory is public, for frenchies only or for frenchies excepted those in the ripoux.fr domain (french joke!).

The user is also able to share his directories with other RearSite users (trusted users). When a directory is shared, a trusted user user is able to delete, rename, add ... files within the directory he received rights for.

The user is also able to recursively process all the file names of all his embeded directories. The functionality provided is to rename all files (lowercase, replace a string within all file names, ...) which simplyfies migration from systems with case-insensitive file names. These functionalities are available by selecting the Special tools button which also give a way to export the current directory within an archive (ZIP or tar.gz).

Since 1.4, a forum can directly be attached to each directories. When a user wants to create a forum, the result is a Forum.html file located within the current directory. This file will give access to the forum. People having access to this file are allowed to post in the forum.

Since 1.6, a chat can directly be attached to each directories. When a user wants to create a chat, the result is a Chat.html file located within the current directory. This file will give access to the chat. People having access to this file are allowed to talk in the chat.

Since 1.9, a shareable calendar can be directly attached to each directories. When a user wants to create a calendar, the result is a Calendar.html file located within the current directory. This file will give access to the calendar. People having access to this file are allowed to read the calendar. Only the owner of a calendar is allowed to update it, but he may allow other users. Accessing his calendar via RearSite allows the owner to update it immediatly. When accessing a calendar via a normal WWW access, the user (owner or not) must be authenticated (via Rearsite configured authentication scheeme) before being allowed to update it.

The chat, forum and calendar functionalities are accessible via the Communications button, they have been designed for distance learning purposes but can easily be used for any groupware needs.

Tinyquizz 2.3

Tinyquizz 2.3

Tinyquizz is a deliberately simplistic tool to produce self-assessment quizzes. more>>
Tinyquizz project is a deliberately simplistic tool to produce self-assessment quizzes. Quizzes consist of a single entirely self-contained XHTML file. There is no need for a web server, PHP, database server, or e-learning platform to run them. A simple web browser is enough. It even fully works offline.
Quizzes produces by Tinyquizz can only be used for self-assessment because the answers are contained in the quizz file.
How does Tinyquizz work ?
Quizzes are written in XML, that is raw text with tags to delimit sections. For instance here is a question (tags are in bold):
< question>
< statement>You can cross when the light is < /statement>
< answer correct="no">Red< /answer>
< answer correct="yes">Green< /answer>
< /question>
Once you wrote the quizz you transform it with an XSLT processor or using the online transformer which does not require any installation.
Any basic text editor is ok to write Tinyquizz quizzes. However you may prefer to use a dedicated XML text editor such as Jaxe which can additionally ensure that the syntax is correct. Indeed you need to use the right tag at the right place
Enhancements:
- Input widgets are now locked once the result is displayed.
- A new reset button has been added.
- A new optional < justification > tag can now be added after each answer to provide the user with individualized feedback.
- Disc bullets are used for answers when there is no correct answer.
- New reference documentation is now available on the Web site as well as in the distribution.

dialogquiz 1.0

dialogquiz 1.0

dialogquiz game contains anagrams, hangman, and trivia questions. more>>
dialogquiz game contains anagrams, hangman, and trivia questions.

Dialogquiz is a collection of console-based trivia quizzes for Linux. Currently the collection consists of anagrams, multiple choice questions and hangman, with around 30,000 questions in total.

Subjects range from The Sopranos to English monarchs, 80s rock to capital cities.

Dialogquiz is written in perl, and is console based. It has been tested on RHEL, Debian, and Slackware, and should work without problems on other Linux distros. It will likely also run on Unix, although this has not been confirmed. Support for more obscure OSes such as MS Windows is not planned.

Please read the INSTALL file for installation instructions. Youll also need the dialog tool (sometimes packaged as cdialog), and perl v5.0 or higher.

All quiz questions were created from data on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org), and were converted into a suitable format using our friends cut, sed, grep, and perl. Wikipedias content is covered by the GPL, as is dialogquiz.

If you spot any inaccuracies in the questions, please hesitate to mail me: I dont have the time or incling to correct apparent mistakes. That said, mail is welcome on any other issue (bugs , feedback, praise/critisism, invitations to help out deposed
Nigerian politicians etc). If youve installed sucessfully on a non-Linux platform, Id certainly like to hear.

Xenomai 2.3

Xenomai 2.3

Xenomai is a realtime development framework. more>>
Xenomai project is a realtime development framework cooperating with the Linux kernel in order to provide pervasive, hard realtime support to userspace applications, interface-agnostic, seamlessly integrated into a Linux environment.
Xenomai is based on an abstract RTOS core, usable for building any kind of realtime interface, over a nucleus which exports a set of generic RTOS services.
Any number of RTOS personalities called "skins" can then be built over the nucleus, providing their own specific interface to the applications by using the services of a single generic core to implement it.
Enhancements:
- An RTDM-based CAN implementation and many architecture-specific updates and bugfixes.

quiz 0.1

quiz 0.1

quiz project is a little program to practice multiple choice questions. more>>
quiz project is a little program to practice multiple choice questions.
It can be used to drill yourself on multiple choice questions.
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.
Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.
4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.
Enhancements:
- Initial version of quiz. There are quite a few features that I would like to see missing but the general program is usable by me at least.

Postfix-policy 0.0.2

Postfix-policy 0.0.2

Postfix-policy is a policy server that uses ServerKit to achieve a high level of performance and scalability for Postfix servers more>>
Postfix-policy is a policy server that uses ServerKit to achieve a high level of performance and scalability for Postfix servers.

This project is ideal for use with large mail systems utilizing Postfix for MX duties and MySQL for the management of accounts with basic policy needs.

Usage:

It is advised that you read the ServerKit documentation before trying to use this module, as most of the basic usage is simply using ServerKit, nothing specific to this module.

You will probably want to use the included ServerKit personality as a starting point, found in the source archive as a directory named "personality". Within the personality you will find a "c11n" file, a "modules" subdirectory, and a "svsdir" subdirectory.

The "c11n" file is a ServerKit configuration file, you will need to at least modify the database settings so ServerKit can successfully communicate with your database system. Another configuration value that you will definitely have to set is "action_query_format_string".

The "action_query_format_string" is the SQL query postfix-policy will use to retrieve an action to send back to Postfix in response to policy delegation requests. See the Configuration section for a list of supported substitutions for use in the format string.

You are responsible for creating a query that is compatible with your mail system database schema, and ensuring that the query will:

1. return an empty set for invalid recipients
2. return a valid action string when not returning an empty set

For an explanation of valid policy action responses, see the access(5) manual reference from Postfix, youre interested in the *ACTIONS sections

MoxQuizz project is an IRC quiz/trivia script for eggdrop.
MoxQuizz is a multilingual IRC quiz/trivia script for eggdrops which acts as a game master.
A question is posted to the channel, and all chatter is searched for the answer. If something matches an answer or an optional regular expression, the user who said it receives a point. Highscores and an allstars table are managed.
Users can ask their own questions, too. A large set of German and English questions are provided, but you can easily run MoxQuizz with your own set.
There are numerous fun commands like !hug, !roll, and others.
Enhancements:
- moxtools: added code to enable users with flag Q to use a .!jump command similiar to the .jump for bot masters
- added three new question files with english questions (+788 questions)
- added option to prevent overruns (expert players entering a game at a late state and overrun the others to gain a high allstars score). When enabled, MoxQuizz does not accept new players as soon as one player reached a certain threshold in
- point (defaults to 15 points)
- added !antispam command to moxtools. Sends a antispam.txt file (if available and enabled) from the intl dir.
- public commands for quizmasters (flag P): !nuq, !uq, !listnuq for placing users in ignore for userquestsions (for 45 minutes)
- added .!identify to moxtools.tcl to manually force the script to identify to a nickserv (flag P)
- added another 185 german questions (thanks to "Said Nasser" and his users)
- MoxQuizz will purr if it gets patted (sometimes)
- dcc "!say !hug FOO" works again

Keen little rabbit ears 0.8

Keen little rabbit ears is a simple ear training program for Linux and Windows. more>>
Keen little rabbit ears is a simple ear training program for Linux and Windows. It is free of charge. You can exercise the recogniton of intervalls, chords, scales and chord progressions.
Keen little rabbit ears requires the installation of Perl (Version 5), Perl/Tk, Perl::MIDI and an extermal MIDI player, like timidity (Verion 0.2i). Keen little rabbit ears is written in perl, uses Perl/Tk for the user interface, Perl::MIDI to write MIDI files and timidity to play MIDI files.
This is an early release, which means that there is a number of features which are not implemented. But keen little rabbit ears works pretty fine on my Pentium 90 using Suse Linux (Version 6.1) and under Window 95 too.
I strongly recommend everyone to read a good book on this. There are several ways to train. In general you do it like this. In the first level only select 2 or 3 items you already know or which are
the most common. In the next level you proceed and add the next 2 common items.
Below is are two lists, which can be used as guideline. But it is usually better to ask your teacher which exercises should you train.
Enhancements:
- Quiz mode
- advanced root note selection
- extension to playing direction (both)
- highlighting of selected instrument / root note
- 440 Hz (sing an "a" test)
- bug fix (pitch drill)

OpenGrade 2.7.15

OpenGrade 2.7.15

OpenGrade is software for teachers to keep track of grades. more>>
OpenGrade is software for teachers to keep track of grades. OpenGrade can put the students grade reports on a Web server and allow the students password-protected access to them.
Main features:
- A variety of reports can be created.
- Grades can be uploaded to a web server, where students can have password-protected access to them.
- If you use a set grading scale, you can have the software use it to compute letter grades automatically.
- Grades can be based on total points, or on a weighted average of scores in various categories such as exams and quizzes.
- You can drop the lowest grade (or the N lowest grades) from a given category.
- Students can be dropped and later reinstated without losing all their grades.
- There is support for extra-credit categories, and for categories that dont count towards the students grade.
- Gradebook files are password-protected with a digital watermark, so you can detect tampering.
- Gradebook files are in a plain-text format, which makes it easy to work with them using Unix utilities.
You might also want to check out Ggradebook and Grades, which are two other open-source programs along similar lines. There is a category for this kind of software on Open Directory.
OpenGrade is designed to cooperate with my software Spotter. By using the two pieces of software together, you can post grade reports on the web, keep track of your students e-mail addresses, and collect certain kinds of work from them online.
Enhancements:
- This version correctly recognizes Perl/Tk 804.027 as being compatible with itself, rather than insisting on 804.029 or higher.
