Qleuren project is a Qt-based MasterMind clone.
Qleuren is a Qt-based MasterMind clone with a user-interface that tries to look and feel like a real-world board game.

Main features:
- Non-configurable game rules; just straight classic rules without double colors in the hidden code.
- Moving pegs automatically (right- or double-clicking them ) is animated. This animation is optional and the speed can be adjusted.

coords 0.5.2

coords 0.5.2

coords is a planetarium program. more>>
coords is a planetarium program. The project is still under construction, but it does a good job of showing the sky with stars and planets at the correct positions.

This version shows celestial objects from the Yale BSC and NGC2000 catalogs, planets from Mercury to Pluto, the Sun and the Moon.

All GUI parts have been written with GLib 2.12, GTK 2.8, Pango 1.14, and Cairo 1.4 (Debian Lenny libraries).

How to use it:

The GUI program:

- If you click in the sky map, you can move it with the arrow keys. Its a stereographic projection of the sky sphere, the up and down keys change the pitch and the left and right keys allow you to roll around the zenith. There are spin buttons too. Finally, the sky can also be moved by dragging the mouse on it.
- A spin button adjusts the zoom factor (Scale).
- A menu allows you to toggle the visibility of various things (equator, frames or grids, star names, ...)
- other stuff, i hope its intuitive

coordserver takes no argument. Currently, it can serve data in two modes. The first is a Right Ascent,Declination pair, given as two floating point numbers separated by a comma (option -c of coordclient). This is meant for machine
processing. The second mode is text.

coordclient can take up to 3 arguments. The first is the -c option (see above).

The next argument is the star name, which can be :

- a name
- an HR (Harvard Revised Catalog) number with 0 padding before the number if less than 4 digits
- a Bayer name (Alp Boo, Alp 1 Cen, Gam Per...)
- a Flamsteed name ( 1 Peg, with two blank spaces before the "1" because the number field is 3 characters long).

The next argument can be date in YYYY-MM-DD.DDDD format. If absent, the machine current date will be used.

The Ace of Penguins is a set of Unix/X solitaire games based on the ones available for Windows. more>>
The Ace of Penguins is a set of Unix/X solitaire games based on the ones available for Windows(tm) but with a number of enhancements that my wife says make my versions better.

The latest version includes clones of freecell, golf, mastermind, merlin, minesweeper, pegged, solitaire, taipei (with editor!), and thornq (by Martin Thornquist).

Installation:

To install the binaries tar, do this as user root (other platforms are similar):

cd /usr/bin/X11
tar xvfz /tmp/ace-1.2.linux.tar.gz
tar cf - libcards.so* | (cd /usr/local/lib ; tar xf -)
rm libcards.so*

You will need to run ldconfig to notice the new shared libraries.

Then you can open a new shell window and type the name of the program you want at the command line to run it.

BrainCurses 0.5b

BrainCurses 0.5b

BrainCurses project is a clone of the Mastermind game. more>>
BrainCurses project is a clone of the Mastermind game.
Braincurses is a game of cunning. The point of the game is to uncover the secret 4 color code. The secrect code is chosen randomly by the computer then the player has 10 (10 is the default, you can change this now at the command line) tries to guess the correct code.
For each correct color youll get a white peg on the left panel. If you get a correct color in the correct place youll get a red peg on the left panel. The order of the white and red pegs has no correlation to the user guessed pegs. (In fact,
the red pegs will always be put first if there are any.)
The player has 6 different colored pegs to chose from: red, white, blue green, yellow and purple. The game will take those colors in the bottom panel. Important note, to move into the next field press the *enter* key not the spacebar! If you happen to misspell a word it will go back and wait for you to retry and spell it correctly.
Once you have input your four color choices and hit enter it will display colored pegs in the center panel matching your color choices. If any of your guesses are correct there will be on the left panel a corresponding white or red peg.
Enhancements:
- Working on setting up information exchange between Answer and Guess class without a client program, need to figure out how to do that! Once that is done then I can set up comparing the user guesses to the random numbers.
- Getting a lot closer to finishing the "backend" of the project up!
- Got it working for the most part, expect a few bugs that I am trying to iron out.

Finance::YahooQuote 0.22

Finance::YahooQuote 0.22

Finance::YahooQuote is a Perl module that can get stock quotes from Yahoo! Finance. more>>
Finance::YahooQuote is a Perl module that can get stock quotes from Yahoo! Finance.

SYNOPSIS

use Finance::YahooQuote;
# setting TIMEOUT and PROXY is optional
$Finance::YahooQuote::TIMEOUT = 60;
$Finance::YahooQuote::PROXY = "http://some.where.net:8080";
@quote = getonequote $symbol; # Get a quote for a single symbol
@quotes = getquote @symbols; # Get quotes for a bunch of symbols
useExtendedQueryFormat(); # switch to extended query format
useRealtimeQueryFormat(); # switch to real-time query format
@quotes = getquote @symbols; # Get quotes for a bunch of symbols
@quotes = getcustomquote(["DELL","IBM"], # using custom format
["Name","Book Value"]); # note array refs

This module gets stock quotes from Yahoo! Finance. The getonequote function will return a quote for a single stock symbol, while the getquote function will return a quote for each of the stock symbols passed to it. getcustomquote allows to specify a format other than the default to take advantage of the extended range of available information.

The download operation is efficient: only one request is made even if several symbols are requested at once. The return value of getonequote is an array, with the following elements:

0 Symbol
1 Company Name
2 Last Price
3 Last Trade Date
4 Last Trade Time
5 Change
6 Percent Change
7 Volume
8 Average Daily Vol
9 Bid
10 Ask
11 Previous Close
12 Todays Open
13 Days Range
14 52-Week Range
15 Earnings per Share
16 P/E Ratio
17 Dividend Pay Date
18 Dividend per Share
19 Dividend Yield
20 Market Capitalization
21 Stock Exchange

If the extended format has been selected, the following fields are also retrieved:

22 Short ratio
23 1yr Target Price
24 EPS Est. Current Yr
25 EPS Est. Next Year
26 EPS Est. Next Quarter
27 Price/EPS Est. Current Yr
28 Price/EPS Est. Next Yr
29 PEG Ratio
30 Book Value
31 Price/Book
32 Price/Sales
33 EBITDA
34 50-day Moving Avg
35 200-day Moving Avg
If the real-time format has been selected, the following fields are also retrieved:
36 Ask (real-time)
37 Bid (real-time)
38 Change in Percent (real-time)
39 Last trade with time (real-time)
40 Change (real-time)
41 Day range (real-time)
42 Market-cap (real-time)

The getquote function returns an array of pointers to arrays with the above structure.
The getonequote function returns just one quote, rather than an array. It returns a simple array of values for the given symbol.

The setQueryString permits to supply a new query string that will be used for subsequent data requests.

The useExtendedQueryFormat and useRealtimeQueryFormat are simpler interfaces which append symbols to the default quote string, as detailed above.

The getcustomquote returns an array of quotes corresponding to values for the symbols supplied in the first array reference, and the custom fields supplied in the second array reference. Here the custom fields correspond to the named fields of the list below.

Beyond stock quotes, Finance::YahooQuote can also obtain quotes for currencies (from the Philadephia exchange -- however Yahoo! appears to have stopped to support the currency symbols in a reliable manner), US mutual funds, options on US stocks, several precious metals and quite possibly more; see the Yahoo! Finance website for full information. Finance::YahooQuote can be used for stocks from the USA, Canada, various European exchanges, various Asian exchanges (Singapore, Taiwan, HongKong, Kuala Lumpur, ...) Australia and New Zealand. It should work for other markets supported by Yahoo.

You may optionally override the default LWP timeout of 180 seconds by setting $Finance::YahooQuote::TIMEOUT to your preferred value.

You may also provide a proxy (for the required http connection) by using the variable $Finance::YahooQuote::PROXY. Furthermore, authentication-based proxies can be used by setting the proxy user and password via the variables $Finance::YahooQuote::PROXYUSER and $Finance::YahooQuote::PROXYPASSWD.

Two example scripts are provided to help with the mapping a stock symbols as well as with Yahoo! Finance server codes. The regression tests scripts in the t/ subdirectory of the source distribution also contain simple examples.
