Diagnotep 2007.1
Diagnotep is an affliction search engine to help diagnose medical problems. more>>
Diagnotep is an affliction search engine to help diagnose medical problems. Diagnotep project works in the mozilla browser, it might not work properly in other browsers. This is version 2007.1. To run the entire engine on your machine for a faster search, unzip the health archive into a folder and then open the file "health_diagnotep.html" with a browser.
The program is under the GPL license which basically welcomes you to copy or modify this and allows anyone else to copy or modify your version if you make it public. The text is under the GNU Free Documentation License which allows you to copy or modify this and allows anyone else to copy or modify your version if you make it public.
The program searches among the symptoms of a medical database, so the results will only be medical afflictions. There are about 1,800 afflictions in the database, so no matter how deep the search depth and how many symptoms are entered, there will be at most about 1,800 results. The links from the results page point to affliction pages which are either public domain government pages or GNU Free Documentation License pages.
The greatest advantage of the diagnotep search engine is that it searches only medical affliction pages, so the results are not cluttered with pages which are not about health. Another advantage is that the program searches only the symptom part of the affliction pages, so the results are not cluttered with unrelated medical pages. The greatest disadvantage of diagnotep is that it searches a medical database which is large, but incomplete; it does not include all the medical pages on the internet. Another disadvantage is that diagnotep has a size of about 200 kilobytes and so takes about 30 seconds to load on a 56k dialup modem.
Diagnotep development is ongoing and in the future it is hoped that there will be expanded treatment sections for common afflictions, that more afflictions will be added to the medical database and that the 200 kB size of the diagnotep script will be reduced for faster loading.

Faith 2007-06-17
Faith is a cross-platform graphical application toolkit written in C++. more>>
Faith is a cross-platform graphical application toolkit written in C++. It runs natively on Linux/Unix (Xlib), and on Windows (Win32). It is comparable to Qt and Gtk+.
Faith has an API oddly similar to Qts. However, it remains completely under the LGPL since we didnt write it "tainted" by Qt.
Faith is not "complete," so while its useful (and inexpensive) as a teaching tool, or just for writing simple applications, its not currently recommended for complete and truly polished applications; Qt is clearly the superior choice for that. We dont consider ourselves competition for Qt.
Faith supplies many widgets: LineEdit, PushButton, MenuBar, ToolBar, ScrollBar, Slider. Faith also supplies several other classes.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes numerous behavior flaws and cleans up code throughout.
- Most of the changes are in the event loop; events from sockets and timers are cleaned up, and the Linux event loop handler uses the poll() system call.
- Also, the socket classs behavior is much more similar between Linux and Win32.

NBidi 09-04-2007
NBidi project is a .NET implementation of the BIDI algorithm as described in http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr9/. more>>
NBidi project is a .NET implementation of the BIDI algorithm as described in http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr9/.
THE BIDIRECTIONAL ALGORITHM
The Unicode Standard prescribes a memory representation order known as logical order. When text is presented in horizontal lines, most scripts display characters from left to right. However, there are several scripts (such as Arabic or Hebrew) where the natural ordering of horizontal text in display is from right to left. If all of the text has the same horizontal direction, then the ordering of the display text is unambiguous. However, when bidirectional text (a mixture of left-to-right and right-to-left horizontal text) is present, some ambiguities can arise in determining the ordering of the displayed characters.
This annex describes the algorithm used to determine the directionality for bidirectional Unicode text. The algorithm extends the implicit model currently employed by a number of existing implementations and adds explicit format codes for special circumstances. In most cases, there is no need to include additional information with the text to obtain correct display ordering.
However, in the case of bidirectional text, there are circumstances where an implicit bidirectional ordering is not sufficient to produce comprehensible text. To deal with these cases, a minimal set of directional formatting codes is defined to control the ordering of characters when rendered. This allows exact control of the display ordering for legible interchange and ensures that plain text used for simple items like filenames or labels can always be correctly ordered for display.
The directional formatting codes are used only to influence the display ordering of text. In all other respects they should be ignored—they have no effect on the comparison of text or on word breaks, parsing, or numeric analysis.
When working with bidirectional text, the characters are still interpreted in logical order—only the display is affected. The display ordering of bidirectional text depends on the directional properties of the characters in the text.

Seed7 2007-08-07
Seed7 is a general purpose programming language. more>>
Seed7 is a general purpose programming language designed by Thomas Mertes. Seed7 project is a higher level language compared to Ada, C/C++ and Java.
The Seed7 interpreter and the example programs are open-source software. An open-source Seed7 compiler is also under development.
In Seed7 new statements and operators can be declared easily. Functions with type results and type parameters are more elegant than a template or generics concept. Object orientation is used where it brings advantages and not in places where other solutions are more obvious.
Although Seed7 contains several concepts of other programming languages it is generally not considered as a direct descendant of any other programming language.
Main features:
- User defined statements and operators.
- Types are first class objects (Templates and generics can be defined easily without special syntax).
- Predefined constructs like arrays or for-loops are declared in the language itself.
- Object orientation
- Strong typing
- exception handling
- overloading of procedures/functions/operators/statements
- Various predefined types like resizable arrays, hashes, bitsets, structs, color, time, duration, etc.
- Runs under linux and various unix versions. A windows version is under developent
- The interpreter and the example programs use the GPL license, while the runtime library uses the LGPL license.
Enhancements:
- The handling of local functions in the compiler (comp.sd7) was improved.
- The function option (to get compile time defines) was renamed to configValue.
- The compiler was improved to support the configValue function.
- The ord function for enumerations was changed to work without DYNAMIC.
- The changelog was reversed (sorted now from newest to oldest), and old entries were added.
- The address of the FSF was changed in various files.
