Free pearpc 0.4.0 software for linux

PearPC is an architecture-independent PowerPC platform emulator capable of running most PowerPC operating systems.

This release fixes an ugly partition mapping bug which prevented PearPC to boot OpenDarwin. But the fix might cause regressions: so if your image is no longer booting and you can compile pearpc yourself, please talk to the pearpc-devel mailing list.

Installation:

-Get the Mandrake Installations CDs from a near mirror.
-Read the getting started document first.
-Join the club.
-Make sure you have configured with a big harddisk (3 GiB should do) and a CDROM with the Mandrake 9.1 PPC CD1 inserted. Select a 15 bit video mode. (ppc_start_resolution to 1, 4 or 7)
-Boot and you should get the yaboot menu.
-Press enter and wait.
-At some point, a graphical installer will show up.
-I wont partition your disk for you so you have to do it on your own
create 2 partitions: Apple bootstrap and a Linux onecontinue install.
It will ask you to insert another CD. Click "Change CD" and choose a different .iso or simply insert a different CD. Continue.
-Something bad may happen in the end of the install. Nevermind.

While the CPU emulation may be slow (1/500th or 1/15th, see above), the speed of emulated hardware is hardly impacted by the emulation; the emulated hard-drive and CDROM e.g. are very fast, especially with OS that support bus-mastering (Linux, Darwin, Mac OS X do).

Because the author has only access to a little-endian machine, PearPC will most likely only run on little-endian architectures. This shouldnt be hard to fix and the author would fix this himself if he such hardware. (You can donate some big-endian hardware to get this fixed!)

Equally, PearPC will probably only run on 32-bit architectures. This shouldnt be hard to fix either. (You can donate...)
A lot of unimplementated features are fatal (i.e. will abort PearPC).
Timings are very still a little bit inaccurate. Dont rely on benchmarks made in the client.

PearPC lacks a save/restore machine-state feature.
No Altivec support yet but being worked on.
No LBA48 (but LBA). Currently no support for hard disks greater than 128 GiB. Disks > 4GiB are not tested very well.

Keep is a backup system for KDE. Keep behavior is quite simple: you choose the files you want to backup, you set up the frequency and the number of backup you want to have, and then Keep will backup them automatically.
In order to compile Keep you need to have unsermake.
Installation:
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.
Running `configure takes a while. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `unsermake to compile the package.

libopendaap is a library written in C which enables applications to discover, and connect to, iTunes music shares.
Unlike all other daap implementations, this library is able to connect to recent iTunes shares which require a special authentication algorithm. See this page for more information.

Xmpppy is a Python library that is targeted to provide easy scripting with Jabber. Similar projects are Twisted Words and jabber.py.

This library was not designed from scratch. It inherits some code from jabberpy and have very similar API in many places.

Though it is separate project since it have almost completely different architecture and primarily aims to work with jabberd2 - the new Open Source Jabber Server.

encdec encodes and decodes a wide range of C objects.

This module may be used to encode and decode C objects such as integers, floats, doubles, times, and internationalized strings to and from a wide variety of binary formats as they might appear in portable file formats or network messages.

These encodings include 16, 34, and 64 bit big and little endian intergers, big and little endian IEEE754 float and double values, 6 time encodings, and the wide range of string encodings supported by libiconv.

The functions are all designed to be ideal for in-situ decoding and encoding of complex formats. The code is licensed under the GNU Library General Public License.

gtuner is a GTK+/GNOME radio controller.
Main features:
- Nice X windows gui using gtk
- Gui configurable via a scripting language which enables any combination of windows and widgets to be created.
- The program aims to be fully gui configurable, which means no editing of config files. Just point and click. (Not complete)
- Each device is actually a plugin that can be run time loaded and unloaded. You can therefore switch between cards without restarting.
- A control plugin interface with which you can write plugins to control gtuner.
- An almost unlimited number of channel presets are supported. (only first 999 can be used in the alarm though :-)
- A 7 day configurable alarm that can turn on any station you like on any day at any time.
- A sleep timer which turns off the radio after a specfied time.
- Support for kernel video for linux drivers via plugin.
- Full stereo support (if the driver can do it)
- Can be compiled with or without GNOME support.
- With gnome support is an optional mode that lets gtuner use the panel.
- The panel applet has various modes: Off, None, Text, Skined.
- The skined applet style is themeable and has support for XShape extensions.

Cassiopeia is a board game similar to Carcassonne. It allows playing over LAN and Internet and features also computer players. The project supports multiple Graphic Sets, on similar to the board game and one with a space setting.
The program supports two languages at the moment, English and German. The development documentation and the handbook in the game is only avaible in German at the moment.

JPasswords is a password management program with encrypted databases. JPasswords project allows you to securely store passwords or passphrases, together with related management data like username, entry title, dates and textual notes, on an encrypted disk file. Access to such a file is protected by a single secret key that you define resp. can change at any time.
Password entries may be ordered within groups (which can be nested) and displayed in tree or in table view. Upon retrieval of a password, the program assists you by a "copy to clipboard" function to make password or username quickly available in other applications. Several useful service functions around file management, like copy, merge, backup and restore, make this program a pleasure to use.
The format and encryption method for the database file is compatible with "Password Safe" (Version 2) files as created by CounterPanes (Bruce Schneier) program of the same name.
