HTTPClient 0.3-3
HTTPClient provides a complete http client library. more>>
This package provides a complete http client library. It currently implements most of the relevant parts of the HTTP/1.0 and HTTP/1.1 protocols, including the request methods HEAD, GET, POST and PUT, and automatic handling of authorization, redirection requests, and cookies.
Furthermore the included Codecs class contains coders and decoders for the base64, quoted-printable, URL-encoding, chunked and the multipart/form-data encodings. The whole thing is free, and licenced under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) (note that this is not the same as the GPL).
Following are the kits and documentation for the HTTPClient Version 0.3-3. If you have any problems, bugs, suggestions, comments, etc. see the info on debugging and reporting problems. An older version of these pages are also available in Japanese, thanks to the kindly efforts of Yuji Kumasaka.
Using the HTTPClient should be quite simple. First add the import statement import HTTPClient.*; to your file(s). Next you create an instance of HTTPConnection (youll need one for every server you wish to talk to). Requests can then be sent using one of the methods Head(), Get(), Post(), etc in HTTPConnection.
These methods all return an instance of HTTPResponse which has methods for accessing the response headers (getHeader(), getHeaderAsInt(), etc), various response info (getStatusCode(), getReasonLine(), etc), the response data (getData(), getText(), and getInputStream()) and any trailers that might have been sent (getTrailer(), getTrailerAsInt(), etc). Following are some examples to get started.
To retrieve files from the URL "http://www.myaddr.net/my/file" you can use something like the following:
try
{
HTTPConnection con = new HTTPConnection("www.myaddr.net");
HTTPResponse rsp = con.Get("/my/file");
if (rsp.getStatusCode() >= 300)
{
System.err.println("Received Error: "+rsp.getReasonLine());
System.err.println(rsp.getText());
}
else
data = rsp.getData();
rsp = con.Get("/another_file");
if (rsp.getStatusCode() >= 300)
{
System.err.println("Received Error: "+rsp.getReasonLine());
System.err.println(rsp.getText());
}
else
other_data = rsp.getData();
}
catch (IOException ioe)
{
System.err.println(ioe.toString());
}
catch (ParseException pe)
{
System.err.println("Error parsing Content-Type: " + pe.toString());
}
catch (ModuleException me)
{
System.err.println("Error handling request: " + me.getMessage());
}
This will get the files "/my/file" and "/another_file" and put their contents into byte[]s accessible via getData(). Note that you need to only create a new HTTPConnection when sending a request to a new server (different protocol, host or port); although you may create a new HTTPConnection for every request to the same server this not recommended, as various information about the server is cached after the first request (to optimize subsequent requests) and persistent connections are used whenever possible (see also Advanced Info).
To POST form data from an applet back to your server you could use something like this (assuming you have two fields called name and e-mail, whose contents are stored in the variables name and email):
try
{
NVPair form_data[] = new NVPair[2];
form_data[0] = new NVPair("name", name);
form_data[1] = new NVPair("e-mail", email);
// note the convenience constructor for applets
HTTPConnection con = new HTTPConnection(this);
HTTPResponse rsp = con.Post("/cgi-bin/my_script", form_data);
if (rsp.getStatusCode() >= 300)
{
System.err.println("Received Error: "+rsp.getReasonLine());
System.err.println(rsp.getText());
}
else
stream = rsp.getInputStream();
}
catch (IOException ioe)
{
System.err.println(ioe.toString());
}
catch (ModuleException me)
{
System.err.println("Error handling request: " + me.getMessage());
}
Here the response data is read at leisure via an InputStream instead of all at once into a byte[].
As another example, if you want to upload a document to a URL (and the server supports http PUT) you could do something like the following:
try
{
URL url = new URL("http://www.mydomain.us/test/my_file");
HTTPConnection con = new HTTPConnection(url);
HTTPResponse rsp = con.Put(url.getFile(), "Hello World");
if (rsp.getStatusCode() >= 300)
{
System.err.println("Received Error: "+rsp.getReasonLine());
System.err.println(rsp.getText());
}
else
text = rsp.getText();
}
catch (IOException ioe)
{
System.err.println(ioe.toString());
}
catch (ModuleException me)
{
System.err.println("Error handling request: " + me.getMessage());
}

UPX 3.01
UPX is a versatile executable packer. more>>
UPX is a versatile executable packer.
Main features:
- excellent compression ratio: typically compresses better than WinZip/zip/gzip, use UPX to decrease the size of your distribution !
- very fast decompression: ~10 MB/sec on an ancient Pentium 133, ~200 MB/sec on an Athlon XP 2000+.
- no memory overhead for your compressed executables because of in-place decompression.
- safe: you can list, test and unpack your executables. Also, a checksum of both the compressed and uncompressed file is maintained internally.
- universal: UPX can pack a number of executable formats:
- atari/tos
- djgpp2/coff
- dos/com
- dos/exe
- dos/sys
- linux/386
- rtm32/pe
- tmt/adam
- watcom/le (supporting DOS4G, PMODE/W, DOS32a and CauseWay)
- win32/pe
- portable: UPX is written in portable endian-neutral C++
- extendable: because of the class layout its very easy to add new executable formats or new compression algorithms
- free: UPX is distributed with full source code under the GNU General Public License, and may be used freely even with commercial programs.

Decomp 0.0
Decomp is a sorta complete decompiler. more>>
Decomp is a sorta complete decompiler. It supports (more or less) ELF32, ELF64, PE, NE, MZ, and COM executables on the IA-32 architecture (x86).
Itll tell you it also supports the Alpha, but dont believe it. The generated code cant be recompiled so it isnt terribly useful, but its a great toy to play with and it does decompile things just fine.
Usage: decomp [OPTION]... < FILE >
Decompile FILE into a complete assembly language file which can in turn be re-assembled.
-o, --output < file > Place output in file. The default is to append .S to the input file name.
-h, --help Print this message.
-v, --version Print version information.
-a, --address Print the address of each instruction.
-c, --opcode Print the opcode of each instruction.
-p, --prefix Print any instruction prefixes.
-d, --debug Print debugging information.
-t, --trace Turn on memory tracing.
-q, --queue-size < size > Adjust the size of the output instruction queue. Only use this if you know what you are doing.
IA-32 specific options:
-s, --style < nasm|gas > Select assembly language style. Not yet implemented.

Tiny C Compiler 0.9.23
Tiny C compiles so fast that even for big projects Makefiles may not be necessary. more>>
Tiny C compiles so fast that even for big projects Makefiles may not be necessary.
TinyCC (aka TCC) is a small but hyper fast C compiler. Unlike other C compilers, it is meant to be self-relying: you do not need an external assembler or linker because TCC does that for you.
TCC not only supports ANSI C, but also most of the new ISO C99 standard and many GNUC extensions including inline assembly.
TCC can also be used to make C scripts, i.e. pieces of C source that you run as a Perl or Python script. Compilation is so fast that your script will be as fast as if it was an executable. TCC can also automatically generate memory and bound checks while allowing all C pointers operations. TCC can do these checks even if non patched libraries are used.
With libtcc, you can use TCC as a backend for dynamic code generation
TCC mainly supports the i386 target on Linux and Windows. There are alpha ports for the ARM (arm-tcc) and the TMS320C67xx targets (c67-tcc).
Main features:
- SMALL! You can compile and execute C code everywhere, for example on rescue disks (about 100KB for x86 TCC executable, including C preprocessor, C compiler, assembler and linker).
- FAST! tcc generates optimized x86 code. No byte code overhead. Compile, assemble and link several times faster than GCC.
- UNLIMITED! Any C dynamic library can be used directly. TCC is heading torward full ISOC99 compliance. TCC can of course compile itself.
- SAFE! tcc includes an optional memory and bound checker. Bound checked code can be mixed freely with standard code.
- Compile and execute C source directly. No linking or assembly necessary. Full C preprocessor and GNU-like assembler included.
- C script supported : just add #!/usr/local/bin/tcc -run at the first line of your C source, and execute it directly from the command line.
- With libtcc, you can use TCC as a backend for dynamic code generation.
Enhancements:
- initial PE executable format for windows version (grischka)
- #pragma pack support (grischka)
- #include_next support (Bernhard Fischer)
- ignore -pipe option
- added -f[no-]leading-underscore
- preprocessor function macro parsing fix (grischka)

rfsdelta 0.06
rfsdelta is a kernel module for the Linux 2.6 series that collects all filesystem inode changes. more>>
rfsdelta is a kernel module for the Linux 2.6 series that collects all filesystem inode changes (recursively) and reports them to a userspace process.
It is similar to inotify, dnotify (but provides recursive notification, and only a single watcher process is allowed), fschange, fsevent, and rlocate (but also reports unlink(), rmdir(), and st_*).
This project was based on the kernel module shipped with rlocate 0.5.5.
Version restrictions:
- Only one watch per system: the 2nd attempt to open rfsdelta-events will give `Device or resource busy.
- Doesnt work with rlocate.ko or any other security module (registered with register_security()). A subsequent call to register_security will yield `Invalid parameters. (This shouldnt be hard to fix provided that rlocate.ko is the first security module to be loaded.)
How to compile and install
You need a Linux 2.6 kernel source tree, and a kernel with these settings:
CONFIG_MODULES=y
CONFIG_SECURITY=y
CONFIG_SECURITY_CAPABILITES: disabled or module (=m)
In the folder containing `rfsdelta, run
$ make
This has built the rfsdelta.ko kernel module.
As root, run this to try:
# insmod rfsdelta.ko
# cat /proc/rfsdelta
# rmmod rfsdelta
As root, run these to install:
# make install
# modprobe rfsdelta
To try it, as root start
# tr 00 n
If you are not using udev or devfs, create the device manually:
# mknod /dev/rfsdelta-event `perl -pe$_ x=s@^devnumbers:@@ /proc/rfsdelta`
How to configure
If you want to force a specific character device major number (and minor number 0) for rfsdelta-event (instead of letting the kernel allocate one automatically), use
# modprobe rfsdelta major=< int >
You can change a couple of settings in /proc/rfsdelta. Run this command
as root:
# echo < key >:< value > >/proc/rfsdelta

TimeTrack 1.1.4
TimeTrack is a program to track time in a modular, project- oriented way. more>>
TimeTrack is a program to track time in a modular, project-oriented way. A single timer has the ability to help you track your time over a whole project through maintaining a list of tripels that consist of starttime,endtime and a description field.
You can arrange your timers over several tabs, just as you like. Saving and loading happens through XML Files. Timetracker also has the ability to import single timers from other files to merge your timerdata with other timerdata.
Main features:
New Timer:
- This button spawns a new Timer on the current tab. Just click it and you can start tracking.
New Tab:
- This buttons spawns a new Tab. Youll be asked for the name of the new tab before it is created.
Rename Tab:
- This button renames the current Tab.
Close all:
- This button closes all tabs and running timers WITHOUT saving.
One of the new functions of 1.1 is the ability to save a running timer which will pe persistent even through reboots and shutdowns through the usage of timestamps. This is a useful feature especially for notebook users with limited energy resources.
Starting with V1.1.1, TimeTrack is featuring a generic report generator, which aids you in your documentation needs by - well - simply building reports out of your tracked time data.

THC-Snooze 0.0.7
THC-Snooze is a framework for network traffic analysis. more>>
THC-Snooze is a framework for network traffic analysis. THC-Snooze project can be used as a sniffer or a network based intrusion detection system.
It will watch the network traffic and invoke small programs ("modules" or "protocol dissectors"), which are easily written in a script language, to gather information from the data.
The possible applications for THCsnooze range from simple and advanced sniffing to passive network auditing. It is possible to write modules that will track a connection until a successful login occured. Or you can check if a client application establishes with a ssl enabled server (insecure) SSLv2 connections.
Getting Started:
So, let us imagine you want to write a module for snooze and you dont know the protocol. (I will illustrate these steps on a well known protocol so its maybe easier to understand why we are doing these steps).
First we need some sample data to analyze. We make a copy of the dump_tcp.lua file and change the first line to match our needs:
"-- :xxx_no_proto:1:tcp:" to "-- :xxx_no_proto:21:tcp:"
We start snoozed:
# snoozed -i en0 -M modules/ -b -c t0 -D 10
THCsnoozed-0.0.6 by THC
DEBUG: loading modules ...
...
After we got one or two connections sniffed and stored we quit snooze. Now, we can use hxdmp to view the logs (well, you can use your favourite text editor to do that):
$ ./hxdmp -c t0/127.0.0.1_31231_127.0.0.1_21_0001.complete

Boomerang alpha 0.3
Boomerang is a decompiler for native executables. more>>
A decompiler takes as input an executable file, and attempts to create a high level, compilable, possibly even maintainable source file that does the same thing.
It is therefore the opposite of a compiler, which takes a source file and makes an executable. However, a general decompiler does not attempt to reverse every action of the decompiler, rather it transforms the input program repeatedly until the result is high level source code. It therefore wont recreate the original source file; probably nothing like it.
It does not matter if the executable file has symbols or not, or was compiled from any particular language. (However, declarative languages like ML are not considered.)
The intent is to create a retargetable decompiler (i.e. one that can decompile different types of machine code files with modest effort, e.g. X86-windows, sparc-solaris, etc). It was also intended to be highly modular, so that different parts of the decompiler can be replaced with experimental modules. It was intended to eventually become interactive, a la IDA Pro, because some things (not just variable names and comments, though these are obviously very important) require expert intervention. Whether the interactivity belongs in the decompiler or in a separate tool remains unclear.
By transforming the semantics of individual instructions, and using powerful techniques such as Static Single Assignment dataflow analysis, Boomerang should be (largely) independent of the exact behaviour of the compiler that happened to be used. Optimisation should not affect the results. Hence, the goal is a general decompiler.
Version restrictions:
- In case you want to try Boomerang as it is as a decompiler (as opposed to experimenting with it, or improving it), be aware of its severe limitations. As of early 2004, Boomerang will only decompile X86 (Linux/X86 or Windows PE), SPARC (Solaris, or presumably Linux/SPARC), or Power PC (Linux/PPC or Mac OS/X) programs. In particular, note that it will not decompile DOS or NE (Windows 3.1) programs. Adding another processor is a large (several month) undertaking.
- It will only generate C, not C++. It will decompile C++ programs of course, (and any sorts of programs, including assembler). You may be able to hand edit some C++ programs into usable C++ source code. For MSVC compiled programs, at present you have to spoonfeed the decompiler and tell it that there is one register parameter (thiscall calling convention). The switches to handle this are complex; see using the -sf switch.

Flat Assembler 1.67.21
Flat Assembler is an extremely fast and efficient x86 assembler. more>>
The flat assembler is a fast and efficient self-assembling 80x86 assembler for DOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems. Currently, it supports all 8086-80486/Pentium instructions with MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, and 3DNow! extensions.
It can produce output in binary, MZ, PE, COFF, or ELF format. Flat Assembler includes the powerful but easy-to-use macroinstruction support, and does multiple passes to optimize the instruction codes for size. The flat assembler is entirely written in assembly language.
Enhancements:
- 32-bit relocations are now allowed in PE64 output format.
- EIP-relative addressing was added.
- The PLT operator was added for the ELF output format.
- SSSE3 (Supplemental SSE3) instructions were added.
- Some Win64 headers and examples were provided in the Windows package.
- The SYSRETQ mnemonic was added, and RDMSRQ/WRMSRQ/SYSEXITQ mnemonics were added for the 64-bit variants of respective instructions.
- R8L-R15L (Intel-style) aliases were added for R8B-R15B registers. Support for the AMD SVM technology instructions was added. Numerous bugs were fixed.

Featherweight Linux 1.3
Featherweight Linux is a Live-CD installable Linux distribution that is remastered from Feather Linux. more>>
Featherweight Linux is my Live-CD installable Linux distribution that I remastered from Feather Linux, which is built on knoppix technology. Youll find some great people over at Feather and you can find some good documentation there.
Their goal is to make a light and fast Linux with a very small footprint that can be installed on USB pen drives and such. My goal is a bit different. I want a full featured Linux that isnt bloated with a kazillion gigs of crap that Ill never use. I want a small footprint that is light and fast, even on older machines, but still carries a knockout punch.
So I took Feather and stripped out a bunch of apps that I never even thought of using. I wanted to make an easy to understand desktop that was compatible and easily configurable with the latest apps being developed, so I removed all of the window managers and installed a minimal KDE 3.3 desktop.
I included the most popular internet apps like the Mozilla Suite complete with plugins, Gaim, Gftp etc... I added full printer support and wifi support. In my test environment, it automatically detects and configures both my network printer (HP PSC 1210)and my linksys wireless card. Hopefully, itll do the same for you. It is debian based so I installed Synaptic for easy upgrading and totally FREE software management. Customizing your own system with the software that you want is only a few clicks away.
In its current state, the ISO is about 240mb and the HDD install is about 700mb, which is about 1/4 of all the other overweight distros out there. Once you install it, you can install OpenOffice and a bunch of other stuff if you need it, but I just wanted to make a good solid functional base so you can build your own system if you want.
Featherweight is intended for novice users with "some" linux experience, intermediate users, and experienced linux users alike. It has a pretty straight forward install but you should know linux and HDD partitioning basics before trying to install it.
Packages included are:
- aalib1 1.4p5-22 ascii art library

Enhancements:
- Ive upgraded e2fsprogs and e2fslibs as well as some other critical core files.
- I updated the apt sources and added abiword and acroread, as well as the acroread mozilla plugin, and I added kppp.
- I upgraded samba and switched the quick start konqueror and kde help buttons with a mozilla button and a konsole button.
- I fixed the install script where some folks were getting a blank screen after installation and added a grub install script for easy installation of grub after the initial install.
- The total installed size is now about 800mb.
<<lessTheir goal is to make a light and fast Linux with a very small footprint that can be installed on USB pen drives and such.
