Canadian Payroll 2007.00

Canadian Payroll 2007.00

Canadian Payroll calculates Canadian payroll taxes, CPP, EI, WCB, HP and more. more>>
CdnPayroll is a collection of python functions which calculates Canadian payroll tax withholdings based on the most recent federal publication. Canadian Payroll is mostly for use by developers, but others use it with great success too.
Cdn Payroll is intended to be used primarily from another program or graphical user interface. This is because the numerous command line options necessary to fully implement the federal (and now provincial) tables become tedious very quickly.
Main features:
- Federal taxes for all of Canada
- TONI provincial tables
- Several output options
- Holiday Pay
- Advances
- Ability to save file
- Spreadsheet output
- Cross platform command line
- Graphical Interface (Linux)
- New web interface included
- Distributed free under the GPL
Enhancements:
- Changes due to 84th Edition t4127-jan-07e.pdf effective January 1st 2007.

Payroll Perl Modules 1.3

Payroll Perl Modules 1.3

Business::Payroll is a series of Perl Modules that provides an API for working with multiple countries federal, state taxes. more>>
Business::Payroll is a series of Perl Modules that provides an API for working with multiple countries federal, state and local taxes.
Payroll Perl Modules project also supports calculating mileage reimbursement values and can handle adjustment entries.
The Business::Payroll module starts with an xml document in the Input format and if everything is successfull, outputs the results in the Output XML format.
Currently only the US is supported and MO is the only supported state. We are not supporting any cities in MO yet. Federal Income, FICA, Medicare and Mileage Rates are all being calculated. We take into account the number of allowances people can claim and the fact that you can withhold more for federal and state.
Federal Income tables are only available for any date >= 07/01/2001.
See the payroll_test.pl script and input.xml file for a sample implementation.
Use process_payroll (in the /usr/bin directory after an rpm install, otherwise in the payroll-x.y directory) to actually process payroll files for real.
process_payroll will take the specified raw xml file and process it. If no errors occured, then you get the result on stdout. If you specify 2 file names the result will go into the second file. You can specify - (for the first file) and it will know to work with stdin. I.e. you can pipe the file to be processed. Ex. cat input.xml | process_payroll - would process input.xml from the stdin and then output the result to stdout.
Enhancements:
- This release has been updated to cover the 2006 tax changes.

WyattERP short from Enterprise Resource Planning means total business management software. more>>
WyattERP short from Enterprise Resource Planning means total business management software, designed to handle every aspect of your business from contact management to sales/orders, fulfillment to shipping, invoicing to accounting, from vendor management to purchase orders, receiving to inventory, human resources to payroll, in one fully integrated solution.

Traditionally, there have been three methods to achieve a true ERP. Grow your own software from scratch, try to integrate a diverse set of existing commercial applications, or pay for a commercial ERP system.

Off-the-shelf ERP systems always seem to have a pre-determined set of business rules in mind. The problem is, they may not fit your business. So either you change the way you do business, or the ERP may not work right for you.

Integrating existing applications seems like the easiest way to get a custom solution, but it is much harder than it sounds. Each application typically has its own way of storing data, its own API, and its own operational methodology. Furthermore, application providers seldom make it easy to get into the internals of their application--a must for a true integration project. And when applications are not seamlessly integrated across the business, it makes it difficult-to-impossible to query data across a wide range of sources and parameters.

Growing your own software seems the only way to achieve true custom integration. But the size of the task has made it next-to-impossible for all but the largest enterprises. Companies have emerged claiming to be able to produce a custom solution for you, but it seldom works out as good as it sounded in the sales presentation. And more troubling, you get left with a product your own people dont know how to maintain or extend. You are locked into your original provider for ever whether you like it or not.

WyattERP has released a set of tools created for the purpose of making it possible for even a small enterprise to develop its own fully-functioning ERP system. Your own IT people can learn to use WyattERP tools to make a database-driven system to run every aspect of your business. You can design your own system that runs according to your companys way of doing business. You will own and understand your design so you can maintain and extend it as much as you like.

Wylib and Wyseman are open source tools used for creating fully customizable, affordable ERP solutions on a Linux platform using the PostgreSQL database backend and the Tcl scripting language. Wylib provides an easy to use, robust, application framework. Wyseman provides a way to create database models using user defined schema files. Wylib and Wyseman interact with the PostgreSQL database to provide a starting point for a seamless ERP solution.

Wylib and Wyseman are released under two licensing options. This dual license allows for a fair exchange, or Quid pro Quo, to take place between the licensee (you) and the licensor (WyattERP). The source code for Wylib and Wyseman is identical for both licenses.

Beanie 0.1

Beanie 0.1

Beanie is a flexible, distributed accounting system for medium-sized companies. more>>
Beanie is a flexible, distributed accounting system for medium-sized companies.
It includes back-end batch processing as well as a GTK GUI and provides automated purchases, sales, and nominal ledgers as well as automated invoicing (via email).
Beanie project also supports payroll and VAT.
Installation:
STEP ONE:
You must create a user on the system called beanie. This unprivileged user will own all the accounting files and executables. The home directory of this user will be the main location for all accounting files so choose wisely. Examples are /v/beanie or
/var/accounts.
This is an example of the password entry:
beanie:*:101:20:The Accounting System:/v/beanie:/bin/csh
Make sure you set the BEANIEROOT environment variable in the file beanie.mk to the home directory of the beanie user.
STEP TWO:
You must create a MySQL database called beanie. You then need to create a user also called beanie with a 8 to 10 character password which has full access to this database. Check that you can access the new database using the following command:
% mysql -h -u beanie -p beanie
You will be prompted for a password. Enter the password you set on the account and youre now ready to create a config.h file.
STEP THREE:
Copy the file config.h.sample to config.h and edit it. You will find information on how to configure this file in the comment blocks of the file. Note that the MAIN_DBHOST and DBPWD_CHARxx values need to match what you entered above.
STEP FOUR:
Edit the file beanie.mk and make sure that the defaults are OK.
Once you have completed these steps, compile the source by running the following commands:
% make clean all
% make install
You may need to run the second make as root in order to have permissions to create directories and some binary files (such as xeparse which needs to be installed in /usr/libexec).
STEP FIVE:
You need to create a cron(8) entry for the beanie user. There is a sample cron entry in the file crontab.sample. Edit this file and change $BEANIEROOT to be the home directory of the beanie user. Then, either logged in as beanie or as root, run the following command:
% crontab -u beanie < crontab.sample
This makes sure the overnight processing is performed every evening at 11PM. Each day, the databases will be backed up and the daily operations (such as invoicing, etc) will be performed. Each Sunday, the end of week tasks will be performed and on the last day of the month, the monthly, quarterly and annual tasks will be performed.
You can examine these scripts to see what they do:
overnight/acct.prolog
overnight/acct.daily
overnight/acct.weekly
overnight/acct.monthly
overnight/acct.epilog
Edit the tmac source files for your specific information. The key one here is lhead.tmac because this is the source for your company letterhead. Its written in troff.
Youre Done!! Now you just need to run the newcompany program.
Enhancements:
- In this initial release, the billing functionality is very complete and the general ledger functionality is pretty much all there.
- A VAT system was added with a payroll check-in due very shortly.

FreeWERM 1.0.8b

FreeWERM 1.0.8b

FreeWERM is an easy-to-use software system for creating, maintaining, and reporting on employee profiles for any sort of busines more>>
FreeWERM (short for "Free Web-based Employee Reporting Module") is an easy-to-use software system for creating, maintaining, and reporting on employee profiles for any sort of business. It has a time clock feature similar to other pieces of software currently on SourceForge, but FreeWERM is also much more than that. FreeWERM stores all employees that have worked for a company, along with their personal information, hours worked, company-defined payroll departments, and even user accounts.

It runs on Linux-based operating systems (I used Ubuntu) and uses PHP, Perl, and some light JavaScript, along with a MySQL database to store its information. It was developed by me to help my companys HR department deal with the problems of managing and reporting for an employee roster with several hundred names on it and an extremely high turnover rate (i.e. telemarketing firm), although it works just as well for a company with 10 employees.

FreeWERM stores personal information (name, address, phone, etc), but it also keeps track of individual Human Resources-related data for each employee, such as how many days absent (and what kind of absence - vacation, sick, bereavement), salary information, and FreeWERM is also capable of keeping track of which employees have been hired, fired, and re-hired by the same company and on what date(s). Also, whenever an employee is added to FreeWERMs database or when an existing employees profile is modified, FreeWERM creates a PDF document version of the new/updated employees profile. The employees data can be used to generate HR reports - users can create reports showing new hires or new terminations for a certain department for a certain date range, or reports can be generated that show payroll information, to name a few. FreeWERM is even capable of creating PDF documents containing employee names and addresses in a format suitable for printing to sheets of label stickers for envelopes.

The most-often used feature of FreeWERM is the time clock. Its a very simple interface that only requires the employee to enter in their unique employee ID number (which is assigned at the time the employee is entered into the system). If the employee is not clocked in, the system clocks them in under the department listed on their profile. If the employee is already clocked in, they are clocked out and the information for the shift they worked is then stored in a table of time clock records. FreeWERM can take these records and make complete, organized Excel spreadsheets that not only display hours worked by employees, but also can calculate how much money the employee is owed for the hours worked.

FreeWERM can be used to create user accounts so only certain employees can use the module. There are over a dozen different privileges that can be granted to users, from manually inserting time clock records for employees to allowing the user to grant/modify permissions to other users. User privileges can also be refined to the point where users may only be allowed access to records/employees belonging to specific payroll departments. Also, FreeWERM logs user activity to a special access_log table in its MySQL database. Any changes, additions, or removal of information through FreeWERM is stored along with the date and time of the action and ID number of the user who performed it.
