Apache Portals

Apache Portals

Apache Portals provides robust Portal related software on a wide variety of platforms. more>>
Apache Portals is a collaborative software development project dedicated to providing robust, full-featured, commercial-quality, and freely available Portal related software on a wide variety of platforms and programming languages.

This project is managed in cooperation with various individuals worldwide (both independent and company-affiliated experts), who use the Internet to communicate, plan, and develop Portal software and related documentation.

Modern software is complex and expensive, which has motivated many companies to invest in enterprise portals as a mechanism by which they can manage information in a cohesive and structured fashion.

Portals offer many advantages over other software applications. First, they provide a single point of entry for employees, partners, and customers. Second, portals can access Web services transparently from any device in virtually any location. Third, portals are highly flexible; they can exist in the form of B2E intra-nets, B2B extra-nets, or B2C inter-nets. Fourth, portals can be combined to form a portal network that can span a companys entire enterprise system, allowing for access both inside and outside the firewall.

Portals have many advantages, which is why they have become the de facto standard for Web application delivery. In fact, analysts have predicted that portals will become the next generation for the desktop environment.

Portals distinguish themselves from other software systems because they provide the ability to integrate disparate systems and leverage the functionality provided by those systems. As such, they are not mutually exclusive, and do not force you into an either-or decision vis-a-vis existing software systems. This point is of paramount importance, particularly when you consider the fact that Web services are destined to fuel the explosion of Web applications. Since portals can access any Web services, the conclusion is inescapable: portals provide a unique opportunity to leverage the functionality of nascent technologies as well as mature, well-established software systems.

Pairing 1.2

Pairing 1.2

A set of machines to get them paired up for network-related activities, like network benchmarking more>>

Pairing 1.2 is a useful utility for network administrators. It can be run on a set of machines to get them paired up nicely for some network-related activity.

This tool uses multicast to find potential partners and TCP to actually "pair up" with them, meaning that both "sides" will know who their partner is. In addition, partners are given an "active" or "passive" designation which can be used to start client/server applications without further negotiation.

This tool is meant to be used from scripts that perform network benchmarking, automated software testing or similar activities.

Enhancements:

  • Set/restore the net.ipv4.icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts parameter when running in passive mode, so that pairing works on newer distributions out-of-the-box

Requirements:

  • x86, x86_64 and alpha platforms running Linux 2.6

PGP Forwarding Server is a server that receives e-mail on behalf of a user, encrypt it automatically and sent it off the users more>>
PGP Forwarding Server is a server that receives e-mail on behalf of a user, encrypt it automatically and sent it off the users real e-mail account.
The PGP Forwarding Server has a somewhat simplistic view of the world. We have basically a part of the world where things can be transferred in plain text. And we have a part of the problem where things must be encrypted.
It is up to you to decide how big those parts are. Maybe the "Insecure world" is the whole internet. Or just people living in some undemocratic country. Maybe the "Free World" is the whole internet or just the people working in your local network?
We dont care. Just keep in mind that the working axiom is that there we dont can encrypt the e-mail whole traffic, so we care at least about this traffic where we have incluence.
Now, the question is, why cant we encrypt e-mail traffic completely? Because of real world constraints. Just to name a few.
You have relatives. Does your nice Aunt Ann know how to use PGP?
You have a business partners. Now, whats with the sales person over there? Do they know how to use PGP?
However, if you are the boss of an enterprise you could train your exterior sales clarks on how to use PGP. And you can install the PGP Forwarding Server in your company and then everything in your country would be able to safely communicate with your travelling salesmen. Your accountant, your secretary, your tech department, and of course yourself.
So you see, by investing effort at the right place you will benefit from a great leverage effect all over your organisation.
No matter how big those areas are, a user of the PGP Forwarding Server needs to communicate via safe channels with the server. This is currently done by either PGP or SSH.
Receiving via PGP: basically an outsider sends something to an user account on the server, the server encrypts the message and sends it over to the user.
Sending via PGP: a user can may also want to send encrypted mail. However, most people in the internet wont have PGP keys, so the user encrypts the message with the public key of the PGP Forwarding Server and sends the e-mail to the command interface over there, using the "to" command. The server decrypts the message and sends it over in plain text to Aunt Ann.
Receiving via SSH: one just configures his account so that the server doesnt forward incoming messages, but place them instead into a POP3-mailbox. Then one connects via SSH and uses his very normal e-mail program to exchange e-mail.
Sending via SSH: again, you connect to the server via SSH. And again, one uses any e-mail program that can use SMTP to send e-mail normally.
Enhancements:
- Added a nice intro web page.

Revver 1.0.4

Revver 1.0.4

Revver is an upload client in Java for the Revver site. more>>
Revver is an upload client in Java for the Revver site.

To upload videos to Revver, you need a Revver account (create account now) and the Revver Upload Tool. After you download and double-click the Upload Tool, you can drag and drop a video to post it to your account.

We accept all common formats, including Quicktime, Windows Media, MPEG, MPG, ASF, MOV, WMV and most forms of AVI. Once you upload a video, it will be processed by our system to add the RevTag. To see the status of your files, login to Revver.com.

Creators: Share your videos and earn money.

Were here to help you earn money from your videos. Posting your videos is easy, free, and will get your work in front of a big audience (and its also a good way to share videos with friends). But Revver is much more than that - every video you upload is tagged so that you can earn money when people watch.
Before you post your video anywhere online, get a RevTag.

Unlike most video sites that take videos and give nothing back to creators, we created Revver from the beginning to support videomakers. When you upload a video, well attach a RevTag -- a single frame ad at the end of the video. Every time someone clicks on the ad, youll earn money.

Revver is an equal partnership -- you earn what we earn.

The income from RevTags is always split 50-50 between Revver and the creator. (If a partner site delivers the video to their users, we split the income after subtracting an affiliate commission.) Our success depends on your success. Heres how it works:

1. Create an account

It only takes 2 minutes to sign up and its completely free.

2. Post a video, get a RevTag

Drag and drop to upload your video. Well attach a RevTag to the file.

3. Share it, track it, earn money

Your video will appear on Revver.com and you can link to it or send it to friends. Every time someone clicks on the ad, youll earn money. And no matter where your video travels, the RevTag goes with it.

ChainBuilder ESB provides open source SOA integration via graphical interfaces more>> ChainBuilder ESB is a new Java Business Integration (JBI) compliant open source Enterprise Service Bus. ChainBuilder ESB allows IT developers with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) infrastructures to create standards-based ESB components through Eclipse-based graphical user interfaces. Most organizations SOAs need to include strategic backend systems that operate with non-XML data formats and non-WebServices communication protocols. Bostech focus on usability ensured the initial offerings of ChainBuilder ESB had industry standard editors to manage EDI X12, HL7, fixed and variable formats and communication components for TCP/IP, FTP and file protocols - the formats and protocols that organizations with mature applications absolutely require. ChainBuilder ESB also has uncommon high-end open source features, like an AJAX-based Console web interface for monitoring and controlling the production environment, usually found only with expensive proprietary systems. Bostech Corporation is deploys a dual-license distribution model for ChainBuilder ESB. Developers can download the open source software under the common GPL license at http://www.chainforge.net. Term::Clui 1.37

Term::Clui 1.37

Term::Clui.pm is a Perl module offering a Command-Line User Interface. more>>
Term::Clui.pm is a Perl module offering a Command-Line User Interface.

SYNOPSIS

use Term::Clui;
$chosen = &choose("A Title", @a_list); # single choice
@chosen = &choose("A Title", @a_list); # multiple choice
$x = &choose("Which ?n(Arrow-keys and Return)", @w); # multi-line question
if (&confirm($text)) { &do_something(); };
$answer = &ask($question);
$answer = &ask($question,$suggestion);
$password = &ask_password("Enter password : ");
$newtext = &edit($title, $oldtext);
&edit($filename);
&view($title, $text) # if $title is not a filename
&view($textfile) # if $textfile _is_ a filename

&edit (&choose ("Edit which file ?", grep (-T, readdir D)));

Term::Clui offers a high-level user interface to give the user of command-line applications a consistent "look and feel". Its metaphor for the computer is as a human-like conversation-partner, and as each question/response is completed it is summarised onto one line, and remains on screen, so that the history of the session gradually accumulates on the screen and is available for review, or for cut/paste. This user interface can therefore be intermixed with standard applications which write to STDOUT or STDERR, such as make, pgp, rcs etc.

For the user, &choose uses arrow keys (or hjkl) and Return or q; also SpaceBar for multiple choices. &confirm expects y, Y, n or N. In general, ctrl-L redraws the (currently active bit of the) screen. &edit and &view use the default EDITOR and PAGER if possible.

Its fast, simple, and has few external dependencies. It doesnt use curses (which is a whole-of-screen interface); it uses a small subset of vt100 sequences (up down left right normal and reverse) which are very portable.

There is an associated file selector, Term::Clui::FileSelect

This is Term::Clui.pm version 1.37, #COMMENT#.
