Main features:
- it has good tools for working with reduced color images (palette)
- for color reduction
- for drawing in repeat
- for drawing in aspect ratio different than 1:1, as this is necessary for weaving
- works well with large images (8000x8000 and more)
- incorporates a nice image browser
- has unlimited undo/redo
- has keyboard shortcuts equal to Photoshop whenever possible
- has a couple of functions you will not find in any other program
- lacks thousands of functions some other programs have

Magnificent Gunbright Final
Magnificent Gunbright is an abstract shooter; destroy the black ball. more>>
Magnificent Gunbright is an abstract shooter; destroy the black ball. An Abstract Shooter Developed For Ludum Dare in 48 Hours.
You are the flashy white blob at the bottom, with the clump of other white blobs following you around.
You have the ability to fire the blobs from your cloud at the flashy blob surrounded by a cloud of black blobs at the top of the screen.
If a black blob and white blob collide, both are destroyed. The object is to hit the evil flashy blob at the top of the screen to destroy it.
Falling from the top of the screen like rain is a steady supply of more blobs. If one of the blobs in your cloud touches a white blob that fell from the sky, even while shooting, the blob joins your cluster.
Falling from the bottom of the screen is black blobs, that your enemy can use to bulk himself up, as well. Blob rain does no damage to either party; you can tell that its rain and not bullets because rain travels away from you.
Use the arrow keys to move, and the space bar to shoot.
Once youve destroyed one evil black blob, you will face another, more powerful one! And so on forever until you eventually die.
Destroy the evil black blobs and save the League of Confederated Planets!

libredblack 1.3
libredblack is a library to provide the RedBlack balanced tree searching and sorting algorithm. more>>
libredblack is a library to provide the RedBlack balanced tree searching and sorting algorithm.
The algorithm was taken from the book "Introduction to Algorithms" by Cormen, Leiserson & Rivest. Frankly I never entirely understood it, but it most definately works!
What is the problem with normal binary trees?: A standard binary tree only works well if the original data is provided in a random order (random in terms of the key being sorted on). If however the data is provided in order, then the tree becomes very un-balanced and searches degrade into nothing more than a linked list.
How is the RedBlack tree different?: The RedBlack tree acts in a way to keep the overall tree fairly balanced as new data is loaded in.
How does it work?: The tree is always organised such that it has the following properties:
Every node is either Red or Black.
A leaf node (a dummy empty node at the end of the tree) is always Black.
If a node is Red then its children are Black.
Every path from the root to a leaf contains the same number of Black nodes.
So from 3 & 4 above, we can see that the longest path (alternating Red and Black nodes) is only twice as long as the shortest path (all Black nodes). Thus the tree remains fairly balanced.
Great! How does it maintain those properties?: Ah, well, thats where I get a bit hazy. I know that it does this by adding Red nodes and then rotating the tree elements and changing the colours to sort out times when two Red nodes become parent-child (breaking rule 3).

KolourPaint 1.2.2
KolourPaint is an easy-to-use paint program for KDE. more>>
KolourPaint is an easy-to-use paint program for KDE. Features include undo/redo, more than a dozen tools, selections, transparent image editing and zoom support (with an optional grid and thumbnail).
KolourPaint is a free, easy-to-use paint program for KDE.
It aims to be conceptually simple to understand; providing a level of functionality targeted towards the average user. KolourPaint is designed for daily tasks like:
- Painting - drawing diagrams and "finger painting"
- Image Manipulation - editing screenshots and photos; applying effects
- Icon Editing - drawing clipart and logos with transparency
Its not an unusable and monolithic program where simple tasks like drawing lines become near impossible. Nor is it so simple that it lacks essential features like Undo/Redo.
The main difference between KolourPaint and most other "simple" UNIX paint programs is that KolourPaint actually works. See the Product Comparison page for details.
KolourPaint is opensource software written in C++ using the Qt and KDE libraries.
Main features:
- Undo/Redo Support (10-500 levels of history depending on memory usage)
Tools (single key shortcuts available for all tools)
- Brush, Color Eraser, Color Picker, Connected Lines a.k.a. Polyline

GNOME floating background 0.1
GNOME floating background subtly changes the color of the GNOME desktop over time -- so slowly that it wont be noticed. more>>
GNOME floating background project subtly changes the color of the GNOME desktop over time -- so slowly that it wont be noticed. This is a good alternative to placing a wallpaper.
The program does have a minimal processor time consumption, as it
sleeps most of the time and its computations are not complicated. In
fact, GFloatbg doesnt change the color directly. It relies on
Nautilus (or an equivalent application) to paint the background using
the color set in the gconf key
/desktop/gnome/background/primary_color, which this program updates
periodically.
GFloatbg doesnt use any window, button or menu, and it can only be
stopped by killing it. This is a feature I dont like too much, but
making a realy nice user interface is just too much for such a little
joke...
GFloatbg starts with a random color and changes it deterministicly by
moving through a HSV-model of colors.
In the HSV-model, colors are described by three parameters:
h = hue stands for the tint of a color
(0 degrees is red, 60 = yellow, 120 = green, 180 = aquamarine, etc)
s = saturations stands for the brightness of the color
(0 = white, 1 = bright)
v = value stands for the intensity of the color
(0 = black, 1 = normal)
Every 10 seconds the hue is increased by 1 degree and the saturation
is changed by a sinus over the hue. The value remains fixed. The
default values are chosen such that all pastel tints are visited, but
these can of course be customized:
Usage: gfloatbg [options]
where options are:
-help
-value < float> (default 0.87)
-satmid < float> (default 0.375)
-satvar < float> (default 0.125)
-fase < float> (default 0.25)
value, (satmid-satvar) and (satmid+satvar) must be between 0 and 1
