NAmpel 0.4

NAmpel is a daemon for visualizing the state of a network using Nagios and a set of status LEDs attached to a parallel port. more>>
NAmpel is a daemon for visualizing the state of a network using Nagios and a set of status LEDs attached to a parallel port.
NAmpel is the Nagios Ampel Project, started by me to keep a closer eye on my net.
Nagios is an open source host, service and network monitoring program. Ampel is the german word for traffic lights, which is the intended hardware part of this project.
NAmpel will resemble traffic lights, indicating the state of affairs by means of three lights.
Green: everything is ok, no need to check Nagios.
Orange: there are at least one warnings from Nagios. Better take a look.
Red: One or more services are in critical state. Panic.
The project was inspired by an idea once published at the Nagios website. There was an image of a device doing just the same and the announcement, it would be published as soon as it was ready.
The software part is a Perl script, checking the Tactical Overview of Nagios at certain intervals and writing the results to the parallel port. It uses four bits to do so: Bit 0 for the green, 1 for the yellow and 2 for the red light.
Finally a fourth light (I chose blue) is available as a heartbeat signal, flashing once every second to show the daemon is still running. Detailed instructions how to build the hardware part will be available at my website soon. soon. It is derived from a project which can be found at: easy-mod (in german).
Enhancements:
- There is no longer need to edit the script itself, since there is a decent configuration file and handling of default values.
- Debugging also becomes significantly easier with the brand new debug configuration directive.

autonet 0.5.0

autonet 0.5.0

autonet looks up existing network configuration files and probes the network. more>>
autonet.py is a small application which looks up existing network configuration files, probes the network with arping in order to determine if it can connect and ideally set up a working internet connection and routing.

If no internet connection is available, autonet.py will parse each configuration file, extract different network setups and probe if the network environment works with this configuration.

The probing is done with arping. A bogus IP 0.0.0.0 is used in order to get the network interface up. Then autonet.py tries to arping the gateway.

If the gateway responds the configuration is considered good. At this point there is no routing, so only hosts within the subnet defined in the configuration is used.

If none of the gateways in the configuration works, the probe gets more brutal by just setting up the network interface according to the configuration file, and and ping the gateway. Again, no routes yet.

If a configuration is considered working (gateway is pingable), the route is set as described in the configuration file. An internet connection should be established then.

This is also checked by pinging k.root-servers.org (as default, override with --testhost), use an IP address here, as DNS is not handled by autonet (yet?).

There is a special feature in autonet.py for owners of some models of Asus notebooks. The package contains a module which uses two LEDs of the laptop to show activity.

While searching and probing, the blue LED is flashing, if a working configuration is found the orange LED flickers for a second. Also this will only work if you have the asus module in your kernel, and it has *not* widely been tested. Have a look at Asus.py for details.

Some common vars can be edited in autonet.py, such as locations of required programs and some common settings (of which timeout does not even work yet) but in most cases supplying reasonable commandline arguments should be sufficient.

As Gentoo has slightly different settings, there are two scripts for Gentoo users, to make integration into the Gentoo init system easier.

Asterisk Manager Suite 0.9.8

Asterisk Manager Suite 0.9.8

Asterisk Manager Suite (AMS) is a collection of software. more>>
Asterisk Manager Suite (AMS) is a collection of software; an abstraction library called Asterisk Manager Interface (AMI), a proxy daemon called Asterisk Manager Proxy (AMP), and a gui client interface called Asterisk Manager Administrator (AMA).
The intention of the software is to make management and administration of the Asterisk Open Source PBX easier. The software is currently targetted at corporate environments with call centers but plans for further expansion exist.
The C library, libami (AMI) is intended to make executing commands through Asterisks Manager Interface easier. The library is used extensively in both AMP and AMA, although you could use it in your own software as well.
The proxy daemon is intended to remedy an outstanding issue with Asterisks Manager Interface: The interface does not deal well with excessive connections. To get around this, a proxy is a suitable solution. As well as simply being a proxy, AMP has other functions as well, including recording statistics and activities of call center agents.
AMA is intended to be a gtk application for monitoring and administrating an Asterisk server. AMA requires AMP for connectivity and has many functions as well as some planned in the future. AMA was first inspired by Asterisks own gastman client, which was well done, but to small to be of any real use to anyone in a corporate environment except perhaps admins.
Enhancements:
- Minor bugfixes dealing with ampd not sending events properly.

Image::Imlib2 is a Perl interface to the Imlib2 image library.

SYNOPSIS

use Image::Imlib2;

# create a new image
my $image = Image::Imlib2->new(200, 200);

# or load an image
$image = Image::Imlib2->load("foo.png");

# Enable the alpha channel support
$image->has_alpha(1);

# set a colour (rgba, so this is transparent orange)
$image->set_color(255, 127, 0, 127);

# draw a rectangle
$image->draw_rectangle(50, 50, 50, 50);

# draw a filled rectangle
$image->fill_rectangle(150, 50, 50, 50);

# draw a line
$image->draw_line(0, 0, 200, 50);

# set quality before saving
$image->set_quality(50);

# save out
$image->save(out.png);

# create a polygon
my $poly = Image::Imlib2::Polygon->new();

# add some points
$poly->add_point(0, 0);
$poly->add_point(100, 0);
$poly->add_point(100, 100);
$poly->add_point(0, 100);

# fill the polygon
$poly->fill();

# draw it closed on image
$image->draw_polygon($poly, 1);

# create a color range
my $cr = Image::Imlib2::ColorRange->new();

# add a color
my ($distance, $red, $green, $blue, $alpha) = (15, 200, 100, 50, 20);
$cr->add_color($distance, $red, $green, $blue, $alpha);

# draw it
my($x, $y, $width, $height, $angle) = (20, 30, 200, 200, 1);
$image->fill_color_range_rectangle($cr, $x, $y,
$width, $height, $angle);

Image::Imlib2 is a Perl port of Imlib2, a graphics library that does image file loading and saving as well as manipulation, arbitrary polygon support, etc. It does ALL of these operations FAST. It allows you to create colour images using a large number of graphics primitives, and output the images in a range of formats.

Image::Imlib2::Polygon and Image::Imlib2::ColorRange are described following Image::Imlib2 but may be referenced before their description.

Note that this is an early version of my attempt at a Perl interface to Imlib2. Currently, the API is just to test things out. Not everything is supported, but a great deal of functionality already exists. If you think the API can be tweaked to be a bit more intuitive, drop me a line!
Note that a development version of Imlib2 must be installed before installing this module.

CAMP is a complete interface for MP3 players such as mpg123, xaudio, and amp. more>>
CAMP is a complete interface for MP3 players such as mpg123, xaudio, and amp. It is designed for the console using ANSI graphics, and also supports skins.
To compile and install the camp-source, you should type the following commands:
./configure
make
make install
cp skins.tar ~/.camp
cd ~/.camp
tar xvf skins.tar
Make sure to edit "/.camp/camprc" in your homedirectory to point the player variable to mpg123 or any other command-line mp3 player. CAMP is known to compile and run under any linux distribution. older versions did also compile under SunOS, but I havent cared to test newer version. It does also compile under *BSD, but i think the keys are fucked-up, and I will use ncurses for reading keys, as soon as I feel like rewriting that.
Enhancements:
- Fixed a stupid bug wich fucked up the playlist-search (my bad)
- Fixed a bug (segfault) with filenames w/o id3, whith a lenght >100 chars
- Fixed IR (lircd) remote support in background mode.
- Fixed lots of small segfault bugs.
- mpg123 jukebox mode now added and complete.
- Added some more skin stuff, once again, and a new skin leetamp

AMP is a framework-independant Java API that enables processing of AJAX requests in a normal MVC pattern. more>>
AMP is a framework-independant Java API that enables processing of AJAX requests in a normal MVC pattern.
AMP framework is currently integrated with the Spring framework to allow for easy configuration. It was inspired by Ruby on Rails partials.
About AJAX:
Asynchronous JavaScript And XML, or its acronym Ajax, is a Web development technique for creating interactive web applications. The intent is to shift a great deal of interaction to the Web surfers computer, exchanging data with the server behind the scenes, so that the entire Web page does not have to be reloaded each time the user makes a change. This is meant to increase the Web pages interactivity, speed, and usability. The Ajax technique uses a combination of:
XHTML (or HTML) and CSS for marking up and styling information.
The DOM accessed with a client-side scripting language, especially ECMAScript implementations like JavaScript and JScript, to dynamically display and interact with the information presented
The XMLHttpRequest object to exchange data asynchronously with the web server. In some Ajax frameworks and in some situations, an IFrame object is used instead of the XMLHttpRequest object to exchange data with the web server.
XML is commonly used as the format for transfering data, although any format will work, including preformatted HTML, plain text, JSON and even EBML.
Like DHTML, LAMP, or SPA, Ajax is not a technology in itself, but a term that refers to the use of a group of technologies together. In fact, derivative/composite technologies based substantially upon Ajax, such as AFLAX, are already appearing.
Enhancements:
- Spring integration now has the additional option of using SpringAmpInterceptor instead of the servlet filter.
- The example application uses the new interceptor instead of the filter, though filter config remains commented out in web.xml.
