LegaSynth 0.4.1

LegaSynth 0.4.1

LegaSynth is an old chip/synthethizer emulator. more>>
LegaSynth is an old chip and synthethizer emulator.

Current engines proovide very precise emulation of:

- Yamaha DX7 FM
- MOS6581 Sound Interface Device (or best known as the good old C64 SID :)
- Yamaha YMH2K series (Soundchip very popular in small Yamaha keyboards/Arcades and the Sega GENESIS)
- TB303 - Still needs some work, but its perfectly usable.

LegaSynth Programming Framework:

- LegaSynth is also a very powerful synthethizer programming framework, where, with only a few lines of code you can have your own engine going.
- A simple demo engine and some documentation are aviable within the source tarball.
- The difference between LegaSynth and other programs such as Reaktor, Bristol, PD, csound, etc is that here the engines have to be actually programmed and optimized by hand, this way legasynth achieves unparalleled speed and polyphony.

Zoinks 0.4.1

Zoinks 0.4.1

Zoinks project is a programmers editor and development environment for Unix/X11 systems. more>>
Zoinks project is a programmers editor and development environment for Unix/X11 systems.
Zoinks is a Mac-like programmers editor that should seem familiar to people that have used MPW or CodeWarrior. It is also similar to Code Crusader, which I used a lot before writing Zoinks. Zoinks also has some features for editing HTML files. An "HTML" menu provides commands for inserting common HTML tags, and you can add attributes by right clicking the mouse on a tag. Some of the HTML editing features were inspired by the Bluefish editor.
Zoinks also provides a simple project file for IDE functionality. Use the "New Project" in the "File" menu to create a new project. In the project window, you can specify a build directory and a build command to build your command (you need to be able to write a make file for this to work!) In the simplest case, the Build Directory is "./" (the current directory) and the Build Command is "make" or "make -k".
After your project is set up, you can build your program using the "Make" command in the "Project" menu. Compiler output will appear in a log window, and you can double click on errors and warnings to navigate to their location in your source code.
You can also specify a command to use to launch a debugger to debug your program. For example, I use "xterm -e gdb ide/zoinks" to launch gdb in an xterm window to debug Zoinks. You can use a similar command to launch another debugger like DDD.
Enhancements:
- Zoinks now sorts files and directories in the directory compare tree view.
- Key type selection was added to the directory compare window.
- Miscellaneous bugs were fixed.

pam_usb 0.4.1

pam_usb 0.4.1

pam_usb is a PAM module that enables either two-factor or password-less authentication using an USB storage device. more>>
pam_usb is a PAM modules that enables either two-factor or password-less authentication using an USB storage device (such as an USB Flash Memory Token).
It can work with any PAM enabled program, such as login, su, gdm/kdm/xdm, xlock...
This is done with a pair of DSA keys, the private one is stored on the device and the public one on the computer.
Whenever a user tries to authenticate, pam_usb will try to find the usb device and will load the private key.
Then it will compute a private/public key signing challenge using the public key contained in the users home directory.
Then, if configured in two-factor mode (additional mode, in the documentation), a password is asked to the user in order to finish the authentication. Otherwise, if configured in password-less mode (alternative / unique in the documentation) it will log in the user without asking any password.
It can also work using any kind of mountable devices such as floppy disks or cd-roms. To improve security, it supports private key encryption and serial number access list.
Sorry for the poor informations provided here but the website is being redesigned.
Enhancements:
- A security issue related to OpenSSH authentication has been fixed.
- The quiet option has been fixed (now it is really quiet).
- Support has been added for devices without vendor/model information.

pyLyRSS 0.4.1

pyLyRSS 0.4.1

pyLyRSS fetches one or more RSS feeds and converts them to a lyrics format suitable for playing on MP3 players. more>>
pyLyRSS is a tool to convert RSS feeds to lyrics files which can be displayed on a MP3 Player.
Many MP3 players have the ability to display lyrics to the songs. I believe that this feature is not used by many people but it can be really useful. Why not read your daily news on your player. I got this idea and found it very interesting.
You can use my tool pyLyRSS to automatically fetch one or more RSS feeds and create .lrc files for mp3 files. an RSS feed can be spanned over several files but not more than one feed can be added to a single mp3 file. If you fetch more than one feed then you have to assure that you have enough mp3 files or you wont be able to read all feeds.
Usage:
./pyLyRSS.py -f feed1,feed2,... (-os | -of | -od) [-ml ] [-ct ]
-f one ore more RSS URLs
-os output ti stdout
-of output to one or more files
-od output to files in a directory (recursive)
-ml maximum length of a lyrics line (default:14)
-ct how long to display a character in 1/100 of a second (default:20)
-v print version information
-l print license
Example:
./pyLyRSS.py -f http://rss.slashdot.org/Slashdot/slashdot,http://freshmeat.net/backend/fm-releases-global.xml -od /mnt/usbstick/
Enhancements:
- A bug with -os was fixed.
- Two features were added to allow you to not only download the RSS title, but also the description, and to allow the program to mount and unmount the MP3 player before and after execution.

smrt 0.4.1

smrt 0.4.1

smrt is a powerful python-based command line tool designed to ease the process of constantly renaming and tagging MP3 and OGG. more>>
smrt is a powerful python-based command line tool designed to ease the process of constantly renaming and tagging OGG and MP3 files.

The main feature of smrt is the ability to identify tracks by making educated guesses, based on filename and tag data, against a gigantic database of all known CDs derived from the FreeDB project. This database may reside locally, or on a remote network server. smrt is also capable of tagging a file by its name, or naming a file by its tag.

All operations are extremely configurable; output names are configurable via a simple to use template string. Powerful regular expression options are available which can be used to mangle filenames, unmangle filenames, and indicate to smrt how to devine metadata from a given filename (thereby providing hints when guessing, as well).

A simple configuration file allows you to set very complex and useful defaults for your collections naming format.

smrt was created with the goal of making sure you spend as little time as possible maintaining your file names and tags, while being configurable enough to allow you to tailor its behavoir to operate perfectly with the impeccable structure of your existing collection.
