ogre4j project enables the use of the OGRE (Object-Oriented Graphics Rendering Engine) libraries in Java applications.

The first approach was made by Ivica Aracic aka bytelord (http://www.bytelords.de). Thanks to him for taking the first steps!
The last stable CVS version located at the OGRE SourceForge.net project page is based on his code but the new team is working on a complete new version that will be more powerful (hopefully).

To ease the pain for those who are using OGRE in C++ the usage of ogre4j will be straight forward. Every public interface of the OGRE library will be available through Java Native Interface (JNI) in the Java world.

OpenMW 0.6

OpenMW 0.6

An attempt to reimplement the popular role playing game Morrowind. more>>

OpenMW 0.6 will provide hours of entertainment for everyone. This is designed as an attempt to reimplement the popular role playing game Morrowind. The projects goal is to be a fully playable, open source implementation of the game. You must own Morrowind to use OpenMW.
When complete, this project will allow you to have these features:

  • Be a full featured reimplementation of Morrowind
  • Run natively on Windows, Linux and MacOS X
  • Support all existing content, including Tribunal, Bloodmoon and all user created mods
  • Allow much greater customization: change game rules, create new spell effects, etc through scripting.
  • Fix system design bugs, like the "dirty" GMST entries in mods, and the savegame "doubling" problem
  • Improve the interface and journal system
OpenMW is released under the GNU General Public License version 3. It is written in the D programming language, and all source code has been written completely from scratch. It also builds on various other open source tools, most notably OGRE for graphics.

Major Features:

  1. Loads any interior cell (geometry, items, lights, and evironmental sounds) from the command line
  2. Renders maps, with somewhat natural lighting
  3. You can move around in "ghost-mode" using WASD or arrow keys and mouse
  4. Partially displays creature meshes, using leveled creature lists
  5. Very basic sound and music support
  6. Backend can load Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon ESMs and any combination of mods
  7. Ignores dirty GMST entries in mods
  8. Loads data directly from .esm and .bsa files, as well as from the file system

Enhancements:

  • Coded a GUI system using MyGUI
  • Skinned MyGUI to look like Morrowind (work in progress)
  • Integrated the Monster-script engine
  • Rewrote some functions into script code
  • Very early MyGUI Monster binding
  • Fixed Windows sound problems (replaced old openal32.dll)

Requirements:

  • Windows - To compile the sources you need MinGW and gdcwin. Follow the instructions in COMPILE-win32.txt.
  • Linux

Tactical Rogue 0.1.1

Tactical Rogue 0.1.1

Tactical Rogue is a tactical roguelike game. more>>
Tactical Rogue game aims to take the best of two very interesting concepts and merge them together, namely, the variety and endlessness of rogue and the strategic elements of Tactics Ogre/Final Fantasy Tactics.

Basically this means well be autogenerating vast amounts of items, weapons and armors, autogenerating dungeon labyrinths and autogenerating monsters based on set profiles. Then, we will use these autogenerated worlds and enforce a strategical/tactical engine based upon many simply attributes such as speed, movement, agility, strength, dexterity, wisdom, intelligence, hp, mp, level, class and experience. The game will run semi-realtime, in the sense that time progresses until someones wait-time reaches zero allowing them to move/act which will then reset their wait-time to its maximum value based upon the characters traits and attributes.

The game will be developed under linux using sdl and c++, using .png for graphical storage of sprites and aminations and .ogg (vorbis) for storage of sound effects and music. All files, be it code, music or sprites will be licenced in a license compatible with the GPL, most likely under the GPL.

As manager, you must build a restaurant, buy the various objects and furniture that the restaurant requires, hire/fire/manage your employees, buy advertising, buy ingredients, set prices, and make sure your restaurant keeps your customers happy.
You start out with nothing more than an empty lot and a loan. Will you transform that lot into a thriving pizza business or fail to attract customers and watch your debt pile up?
Main features:
- Build your restaurant by placing walls, putting in doorways, installing windows.
- Decorate your restaurant by choosing from numerous paint colors and wallpaper designs.
- Put in tiles for your floors by choosing from a large selection of colors and designs.

Solar Visitor 0.2.1

Solar Visitor 0.2.1

Solar Visitor is a space simulator where the user flies around our Solar System in a 3D view. more>>
Solar Visitor is a space simulator where the user flies around our Solar System in a 3D view. The program and source code are offered free, there are builds for Windows and Linux. Solar Visitor uses the Ogre graphics library. The planets and objects were created with the Blender program.
Because Solar Visitor is a 3D program, performance depends on the capabilities of the users video system.
If you wish you may build from source using available tools but be warned this is not an easy task. An addition to Ogre a compiler and IDE (on Windows) are required. The Ogre web site has installation instructions for its use. Those without c/c++ experience will find themselves jumping in the deep end.
With the release of version 0.2.x the user can view planets rendered from textures which is a vast improvement over the painted colours of 0.1.0. There is still realism to add. For instance, the orbits are engineered to showcase shadow effects and not be realistic, where eclipses are rare.
The program code is released under the GPL, the media are generated from downloadable images on the web, details of location are provided. Images remain the property of respective owners.
Enhancements:
- bugfixes
- tilted orbits

Raydium 0.680

Raydium 0.680

Raydium is a small/useless/ugly 3D engine which uses OpenGL. more>>
Raydium is a game engine. It provides a set of functions wich allow quick and flexible games creation.
Functions covers things like player inputs (keyboard, mouse, joystick, joypad, force feedback), rendering (3D objets, OSD (On Screen Display)), time (a game must run at the exact same speed on every computer), sound, ... (theres a lot more things to manage, in fact
The project was started in 2001, trying to become a small 3D library, as a training to OpenGL.
But Raydium starts to manage more and more things (time engine, PHP scripting, physics engine, ...), and is now about to become a full "game engine".
Main features:
- Portability (ANSI C) : Linux / Win32 (and probably some others)
- OpenGL rendering (80 000 vertices per frame at a correct framerate), fog support, dynamic lighting, transparency, skyboxes, MultiTexturing, MipMapping, ...
- Totally simplified API : simple learning curve (example: raydium_object_draw_name("objet.tri"), raydium_sound_load_music("musique.ogg"), ...)
- ODE integration (Open Dynamics Engine) in Raydiums core, providing a simple access to a physics engine (see RayODE)
- Ingame console, allowing access to Raydium or application on the fly.
- PHP Support: PHP/Raydium interface, for a full interaction between PHP and applications. Its possible to write almost all the application with PHP (see RayPHP and RegAPI).
- Integrated network API, for multiplayer games in all simplicity.
- OpenAL support : sound, music (streaming OGG), 3D source positioning) in a few function calls.
- Simplified building scripts and static binaries support for an easy distribution.
- Import/export solutions to other 3D formats: 3DStudio, Blender and DirectX (see ImportExportTri).
- Joysticks and wheels fore feedback support (Linux only, for now).
- Data repositories : Raydium applications can download (or update) missing files. Data uploading is also supported (see R3S).
- Lightmaps support, radiosity lightmaps calculations, with FsRadRay (example : http://ftp.cqfd-corp.org/radiosity_tex.png)
Raydium is free software, available under GPL License.
Raydium is designed to be the engine used behind the MeMak project, but some tests were already created with this engine (see references at the bottom of this page), and a "complete" game: NewSkyDiver.
There are a lot of others 3D/game engines (and some are very complete, such as Ogre, Crystal Space, ...). Raydium does not try to be as complex as these engines, but contrary, is aiming quick and simple developpement. A good example of this simplicity is NewSkyDiver, a game in less than 750 lines of code.
Enhancements:
- This release features Augmented Reality, Live video capture from any video4linux source, video playback to texture, dynamic lightmap filters, Python bindings, remote data repositories listing, full API documentation, and more.
