Gnome-applets 2.19.1

Gnome-applets is a collection of applets for your GNOME panel. more>>
Gnome-applets package is a collection of applets for your GNOME panel.

The GNOME 2.12 Desktop is the latest release of the ever popular, multi-platform free desktop environment - on time, to the day! It includes a number of interesting new features and hundreds of bug fixes.

GNOME is...

Free

GNOME is Free Software and part of the GNU project, dedicated to giving users and developers the ultimate level of control over their desktops, their software, and their data. Find out more about the GNU project and Free Software at gnu.org.

Usable

GNOME understands that usability is about creating software that is easy for everyone to use, not about piling on features. GNOMEs community of professional and volunteer usability experts have created Free Softwares first and only Human Interface Guidelines, and all core GNOME software is adopting these principles. Find out more about GNOME and usability at the GNOME Usability Project.

Accessible

Free Software is about enabling software freedom for everyone, including users and developers with disabilities. GNOMEs Accessibility framework is the result of several years of effort, and makes GNOME the most accessible desktop for any Unix platform. Find out more at the GNOME Accessibility Project.

International

GNOME is used, developed and documented in dozens of languages, and we strive to ensure that every piece of GNOME software can be translated into all languages. Find out more at the GNOME Translation Project.

Developer-friendly

Developers are not tied to a single language with GNOME. You can use C, C++, Python, Perl, Java, even C#, to produce high-quality applications that integrate smoothly into the rest of your Unix or Linux desktop.

Organized

GNOME strives to be an organized community, with a foundation of several hundred members, usability, accessibility, and QA teams, and an elected board. GNOME releases are defined by the GNOME Release Team and are scheduled to occur every six months.

Supported

Beyond the worldwide GNOME Community, GNOME is supported by the leading companies in Linux and Unix, including HP, MandrakeSoft, Novell, Red Hat, and Sun. Find out more at foundation.gnome.org.

A community

Perhaps more than anything else, GNOME is a worldwide community of volunteers who hack, translate, design, QA, and generally have fun together. Find out more at GNOME Developers site.

Linux trustees 3.0

Linux trustees 3.0

Linux trustees is an advanced file permission system for Linux more>>
The main goal of the Linux Trustees project is to create an advanced permission management system for Linux. The solution proposed is mainly inspired by the approach taken by Novell Netware and the Java security API.

Special objects (called trustees) can be bound to every file or directory. The trustee object can be used to ensure that access to a file, directory, or directory with subdirectories is granted (or denied) to a certain user or group (or all except user or group).

Trustees are like POSIX ACLs, but trustee objects can affect entire subdirectory trees, while ACLs a single file. Trustees works with the 2.6 Linux kernel.

tzoperl 2.15

tzoperl 2.15

tzoperl is a Perl Client-Daemon for TZO DDNS Services. more>>
tzoperl is a Perl Client-Daemon for TZO DDNS Services. The service works with dial-up, DSL, Cable Modems, ISDN, and most types of connections that get you connected to the Internet.
The TZO Perl v2 is the preferred TZO client as it requires no compilation of code.. just run the text-based wizard installer to configure. You may install TZO Perl v2 as a system daemon/service for automatically start during system boot-up.
This client is tested and has full installer support for Redhat Linux, Apple Mac OS X, Sun Solaris and FreeBSD. Other versions of Linux and UNIX are also supported (including versions of Cobolt that TZO does not have a special package for).
This code is released under the GPL license and may be modified for additional software platforms. Experimental (limited) support exists for other UNIX, Microsoft Windows (ActiveState Perl), MacPerl and Novell.
TZO offers Domain Registration Services and Dynamic Domain Registration Service (Official Registrar), SMTP Mail Store and Forward, and Web Hosting options for users with
Static or Dynamic IP Addresses(you can host multiple virtual domains with your one IP Address). TZO also allows for DNS Hosting/Parking Services for Cable and DSL users as well as standard ethernet and PPP. Host Private Domains on your Linux Server with a Dynamic IP Address. Private Domains are less that $60 per year if your domain is already registered!
Enhancements:
- Fixed file collision bug (TZO v. tzo) occuring on Apple OSX and Microsoft Windows.
- WIN32: Moved some file-path targets into a hash array to make future Windows/other OS support easier. Lots more needs to be done.
- Some cleanup of the code flagged future code updates with comments. Created TODO file.
- OSX: Created README.osx in osx folder
- OSX: Fixed StartupItems TZO file to work more in line with other OSX startup scripts. The script does not handle Shutdown and restart commands properly (yet), but the actual tzo daemon can be shut down using tzo -q.
- OSX: Moved INIT script from /System/Library/StartupItems to /Library/StartupItems

DARE 1.0

DARE 1.0

DARE is a small Linux kernel patch to VFS (Virtual Filesystem). more>>
DARE is a small Linux kernel patch to VFS (Virtual Filesystem) which transparently moves files into a special directory on each filesystem instead of removing them. DARE works similar like Novell Netware Data Recovery or MS Windows Recycle Bin.

DARE is independent on filesystem type, so it can be used without constraints on almost every filesystem. Deleted files are collected in directory deleted on the filesystem root dir. This directory have to be created manualy on each filesystem on which you want the DARE functionality. Filesystem without directory deleted works without DARE.

Deleted files are grouped into subdirectories by N hours. The N is configurable at the kernel compiling time. This simplifies removing of old deleted files from directory deleted. Subdirectories are named numericaly by UNIX time. Aditionaly to each subdirectory, an informational file is created.

This file is named the same way as corresponding subdirectory and aditionaly the file has suffix .inf. Informational file contains informations about deleted files, directories, special files including original pathname, permissions, deletion time and id of user who deleted this file.

There are also user space utilities for dealing with deleted files and content of directory deleted. There are these utilities:

lsdel - list of files deleted in actual directory
salvage - recovery deleted files
purge - utterly remove deleted files
deleted - daemon watching disks free space and removing old deleted files to keep disk free space in defined boundaries.
