Small Telnet Chat provides a chat server to which you can connect via a telnet client. more>>
Small Telnet Chat provides a chat server to which you can connect via a telnet client.
Small Telnet Chat (STC) is a chat server to which you can connect via a telnet client. It provides logging, automatic kicking, and IP blocking.
Requirements
Server: All you need are the files of the chatserver and a functional JRE.
Client: To connect to the server you need at VT100 capable telnet client.
Simple telnet to a server on which the STC is running. (You need to know the port on which the server is listening since STC can run on any port).
STC is known to work with:
-> PuTTY works fine
-> Win2000 telnet works
-> WinXP telnet works (some versions of WinXP telnet seem to have problems but up to date ones (with service packs, etc.) work)
-> Linux telnet (netkit) works
Installation
No special installation procedure is required. Simply unpack the archive into a directory and run it.
The configuration file (config.xml) has to be in the same directory as the server.
For those who want to put the server to place where executables usually reside (/usr/local/bin, etc.), a .jar file is provided.
Running
To run the chatserver, cd into the directory into which you have copied the files.
Run the server by typing:
java stc

Simple ECMAScript Engine 2.0
Simple ECMAScript Engine is a lightweight ECMAScript (JavaScript) run-time library. more>>
ECMAScript is a standardized language also known variously as JavaScript, JScript, and LiveScript. SEE is a library that provides a parser and runtime environment for this language. Simple ECMAScript Engine conforms to CMAScript Edition 3, and to JavaScript 1.5, with some compatibility switches for earlier versions of JavaScript and Microsofts JScript.
- manage multiple, separate ECMAScript runtime environments,
- evaluate instances of user-supplied ECMAScript program text, and
- expose your applications objects to those programs.
Main features:
- Support for C++ exceptions
- Host class convenience constructors
- Thread safety
- 3-term BSD licence
- ECMA-357
SEE does not provide a document object model. However, the API was designed with the goal of binding a SEE objects to a DOM.
Please read the SEE library documentation for examples of using of SEE, and the data types it exposes. (You may wish to compare SEE with the Spidermonkey API.)
SEE was written with an emphasis on correctness and portability. When compared against a benchmark test it is not too bad. Use this Win32 SEE javascript shell executable to test SEE against JScript and Nombas. It was built with -DNDEBUG with WinXP/MSYS/MINGW (gcc).

Damn Small Linux Not 0.1 RC4
Damn Small Linux Not provides a reliable, and compact array of applications based mostly on the GTK2 libraries. more>>
Damn Small Linux Not is built on Damn Small Linux technology. Damn Small Linux Not is also small, bigger than DSL but smaller than most. Damn Small Linux Not provides a reliable, and compact array of applications based mostly on the GTK2 libraries.
DSL-N is not an evolution of DSL, it is not intended as progress over the philosophy of DSL, but is intended for a different user, or the same user under different circumstances.
Main features:
- it is small
- it has software which is feature full
- it takes advantage of redundant lib dependencies and suits to pack features into a tight distribution
- DSL-N has a modern kernel and does not squeeze out critical modules that would limit compatibility
Like DSL, DSL-n can:
- Boot from from a CD as a live Linux distribution (LiveCD)
- Boot from a USB pen drive
- Boot from within a host operating system (thats right, it can run *inside* Windows)
- Run very nicely from an IDE Compact Flash drive via a method we call "frugal install"
- Transform into a Debian OS with a traditional hard drive install
- Run fully in RAM
- Modularly grow -- DSL-N is highly extendable without the need to customize
- The applications in DSL-N were chosen because they are functional, usable, and relatively compact. Unlike DSL, DSL-N has GTK2 applications, that means DSL-N will need more ram and CPU cycles than DSL. To have a pleasant experience, we recommend at least 64MBs and 300MHz.
DSL-N, unlike DSL, does not have a hard size cap, but it is being developed by the DSL team, and we hate bloat! So, dont expect DSL-N to get too big.
Why are you making this offshoot of DSL when DSL is so successful? Because a 50MB, GTK2 based distribution, with a 2.6.x kernel and excellent hardware detection/support is a contradiction in terms. DSL-N represents our best effort to stay compact while providing for the needs of those who want the Bling Bling such as SATA support, Gnumeric, Abiword, gMplayer.
Enhancements:
- Added "noprompt noeject" to default boot options for frugal installs.
- Fixed madwifi wireless.
- Fixed chpasswd vs passwd. "secure" boot option now works correctly.
- Added gnu-utils into the base iso.
- Fixed USB2 not loading bug
- Improved mydsl=hdxy when specified to not also search this makes it consistent with restore boot option.
- Enhanced exitcheck to prompt warning if no backup device is selected when requested to save special settings.
- Fixed multi user hard drive install bug.
- Added murgaLua Lua/Fltk development toolkit.

SliceTime 0.9e
Slicetime is a program that helps you track time you spend on projects. more>>
Slicetime is a program that helps you track time you spend on projects. Slicetime is designed to make it easy to switch between different projects, the main window is in the shape of vertical sidebar that makes it convenient to keep it always visible on the side of the screen. In short, continuous tracking of time taken on projects is made as effortless as possible.
The purpose of the program is to make you aware of which tasks take more time, and which take less; it can also be used to keep track and charge time if youre working for someone on hourly basis. The advantage of the program is that it lets you switch back and forth very easily, letting you keep a very accurate account of how much a task took even if you have to stop it frequently and work on something else.
The results can be very surprising, something may feel like it took only a few minutes whereas it took almost an hour in real time; the reverse is sometimes true although not as often.
Slicetime main window is a vertical bar with a row of buttons, each button representing a project. When the button is pressed in, the project is active, the rest of projects are inactive. Each project button shows the time taken on the project today. At 12 oclock the daily time is reset and new days count is started.
Time is kept for current day, week, month and total. Example: I may have a slicetime project that has 3:59 time today, 8:00 this week (including today), 17:00 this month (including this week) and 125:00 total time, which may have been accumulated over years.
Slicetime makes it easy to change project time for current day if you forgot to check in or check out. Menu command (add or subtract project time) will add or subtract the time for today. Another command will set all times for total, month, week and day.
Slicetime as of now has two report options, it can report by time taken for each project on a daily, weekly, montly and total basis and the same by percentage. For example, it will show that today project A was 60%, project B - 30% and C - 10%, and will do the same for current week, month and total.
Note that Slicetime does not keep separate time accounting from previous week, month, day, etc. It will not tell you that you spend 5 hours last saturday. It will only tell you total time, time taken on current month, week and day; but it makes perfect sense to keep this data as well, and I will almost certainly add it.
Functionality:
- Add project
- Remove project (deletes all data and button, irrecoverable, use sparingly!)
- Report by time
- Report by percentage
- Set project time
- Add or subtract project time
Version restrictions:
- Number of project buttons is effectively limited by vertical size of screen. On a common 1024 res, you can fit in around 42 projects, which should be enough for anyone, but I will add an option of hiding projects from main window if requested.
- Latest version not tested in Unix, but will most likely work. I will test it soon & fix if needed.
- Could keep time for each past day, week, month, year. Most likely will be added eventually.
Enhancements:
- Several bugs were fixed.
- The interface was changed to be more user friendly.
- Autosave functionality was added to make up for some stability problems on WinXP.

Developers and power users running demanding multimedia configurations will appreciate the additional power those features provide. Some special optimizations enhance the overall speed delivered by the system. For instance, KDE 3.3 is 10% faster, thanks to special tuning by Mandriva.
Addressing both the x86 and x86-64 architectures, Limited Edition 2005 is the only Linux system to allow the seamless installation and running of 32-bit applications on 64-bit platforms. This will allow users to benefit from all the power and performance of 64-bit technology while continuing to use vital 32-bit applications.
Developers will welcome the ability to develop 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the same application on the same machine, without the need to use chroot. Finally, Limited Edition allows you to copy the contents of the DVD to the hard disk during installation, removing the need to use the DVD for subsequent software installation, and so saving even more time.
Limited Edition 2005 provides better support for removable devices such as digital cameras, CD-ROM drives and USB keys through immediate detection of devices as they are plugged in, and by allowing you to boot the installation from a USB key.
Also available is DKMS which allows kernel modules to be dynamically built for each kernel on your system in a simplified and organized fashion.
A special feature that will certainly appeal to gamers and enthusiasts is that the new release from Mandriva has support for the Xbox console, empowering users to bridge the divide between gaming and other computer activities.
Additional hardware enhancements include full support for Adaptec Host RAID controllers (RAID, SCSI, SATA) and extended recognition for the most recent flat screen monitors, including widescreen resolutions.
Main features:
The latest versions of key Linux applications
- Linux kernel 2.6.11.6

Mounttero 0.4
Mounttero is a tool for automatically mounting drives using autofs. more>>
Mounttero automatically mounts most storage devices such as USB drives and cameras, DVDs, CDROMs, hard disks, and floppies.
Devices are mounted when users opens their directory, such as /mnt/auto/cdrom, and are unmounted when the directory remains unused for four seconds.
Usage
For example, when user opens directory /mnt/auto/usb/, digital camera is automatically mounted and all the pictures shown in the directory. After four seconds of inactivity, device is unmounted and can be detached.
Manual Configuration
The rest of this document describes manual configuration of mounttero. If you installed the rpm, it did all this configuration automatically and you dont need manual configuration. The scripts below contain some latest and greatest version 0.5 improvements that have not made it to rpm yet, namely more usb partitions.
Create the directories used by the automounter. The directory is the one mentioned in /etc/auto.master:
