Cheops-ng is a Network management tool for mapping and monitoring your network. It has host/network discovery functionality as well as OS detection of hosts. Cheops-ng has the ability to probe hosts to see what services they are running. On some services, cheops-ng is actually able to see what program is running for a service and the version number of that program.

Differences between Cheops and Cheops-ng:

In cheops-ng the -ng stands for Next generation giving rise to a spinoff or newly developed version of cheops
Cheops is a GUI program whereas cheops-ng has a backend server that is running all of the time. The GUI for cheops-ng just loggs into the server to use the servers functions, like OS detection and mapping.
Cheops-ngs and Cheops functionality only differ in that cheops-ng does not have monitoring capabilities yet.
Last but not least It is being worked on (ie. people are developing it and supporting it, whereas cheops is not being developed on nor supported).

Opennap NG project is a Napster-like sever based on Opennap.
It offers more security features, bugfixes, WinMX abuse tracking/penalizing, and new features.

Major bug fixes
- Ghosts are fixed properly. Ticket #5
- The older of the two users is expired, the newer one is resynced across the network as if the user has just logged into the network. No users are killed, easier on the users and the servers.
- Ghost kill timer
- New configuration variable to delay ghosts from logging back in so they do not bounce between servers.
- Server crash when linking a server with an invalid_nick already online. Ticket #3
- A nasty crash involving linking a server with an invalid_nick online has been fixed.
- Tag 10018, server encapsulated, has been fixed. Ticket #27
- Previously it would broadcast to the entire network, now it only sends the data to the server the intended recipient is located on. Incredible bandwidth reduction.
- Memory Usage in all supported OS. Ticket #14, #16
- Memory usage in stats works for Linux, FreeBSD, and Win32 now. Also included are load averages, swapped ram, etc.
Minor bug fixes
- Search on Linux now works perfectly. Ticket #8, #21
- Searching on Linux was globbing the first character of search strings, and some older GCC versions hosed up network searches.
- Debug now compiles/works
- Debug has been broken for a while, its now working again.
- Increased BUFFER_LENGTH to 16k
- Increased buffer length improves memory return on *nix when previously no memory could be returned to the system.

- Some backwards bans were due to matching invalid_nick, the checking is better now.
- Conversion of wasteful types.
- Where it made sense, variable types were changed from int to bool to save ram.
New enhancements
- Extended statistics port
- A new port has been added that gives LOTS of information out for tracking server/network status in a program like Cacti. More on this to come, well soon provide templates and information to set this up yourself, as well as example output.
- Operserv control over log_level
- A new Operserv command, loglevel, allows easy adjustment of log levels, such as "loglevel all -debug", "loglevel +debug", etc.
- Expanded whois information. Ticket #15
- Shows friend, muzzled, and or criminal status. It shows every status of a current user, such as FRIEND MUZZLED.

- Adds filter keywords into the filter file if theyre seen >5000 times, same as the server has always done internally, but now the changes are kept.

Current known bugs
- Ghost-synced users sometimes still out of sync. Ticket #30*
- Sometimes lagged users, or users on lagged servers, when they ghost their server hash entry gets mixed. Happens very seldom, perhaps one an hour. Currently worked-around by killing the offending user.
- Other bugs being worked on for 0.49. Current open bugs.

tichulog-ng is an application to view a previously played tichu game from a log file. It aims to be better than the tichulog tool available at http://tichu-gilde.bsw-portal.de/logs/.

tichulog-ng allows the user to view a logged game with open cards as if one would play the game by itself.

Usage:

select the right logfile (*.tch)
Take cup of coffee (depends on the round size in the logfile)

Fantastik-NG is based on Fantastik SuperKaramba theme (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=17775).

Fantastik-NG has new more polished Aero-G background (with the same width and smoothnes as Liquid Weather ++).

It displays CPU and system temperature, there is new Python script for displaying number of e-mails (it supports imap, imap-ssl, pop3, pop3-ssl) and better Python script for displaying IP address.

Aircrack-ng is a set of tools for auditing wireless networks.

Aircrack-ng is the next generation of aircrack with lots of new features.
How do I crack a static WEP key ?
The basic idea is to capture as much encrypted traffic as possible using airodump. Each WEP data packet has an associated 3-byte Initialization Vector (IV): after a sufficient number of data packets have been collected, run aircrack on the resulting capture file. aircrack will then perform a set of statistical attacks developped by a talented hacker named KoreK.
How do I know my WEP key is correct ?
There are two authentication modes for WEP:
Open-System Authentication: this is the default mode. All clients are accepted by the AP, and the key is never checked: association is always granted. However if your key is incorrect you wont be able to receive or send packets (because decryption will fail), so DHCP, ping etc. will timeout.
Shared-Key Authentication: the client has to encrypt a challenge before association is granted by the AP. This mode is flawed and leads to keystream recovery, so its never enabled by default.
In summary, just because you seem to have successfully connected to the access point doesnt mean your WEP key is correct ! To check your WEP key, try to decrypt a capture file with the airdecap program.
How many IVs are required to crack WEP ?
WEP cracking is not an exact science. The number of required IVs depends on the WEP key length, and it also depends on your luck. Usually, 40-bit WEP can be cracked with 300.000 IVs, and 104-bit WEP can be cracked with 1.000.000 IVs; if youre out of luck you may need two million IVs, or more.
Theres no way to know the WEP key length: this information is kept hidden and never announced, either in management or data packets; as a consequence, airodump can not report the WEP key length. Thus, it is recommended to run aircrack twice: when you have 250.000 IVs, start aircrack with "-n 64" to crack 40-bit WEP. Then if the key isnt found, restart aircrack (without the -n option) to crack 104-bit WEP.
