SCM is a Firefox extension that performs Site Continuity Management validations on websites to help prevent Pharming attacks.

Pharming attacks are an advanced form of Phishing where an adversary poisons the data held in the user’s DNS server. SCM is believed to be the first add-on to protect users from this advanced attack.

SCM was developed at Cambridge University by Simon A. Spacey and is currently in a POC development release. For technical information about SCM you can read the release paper at:

BlueJ 2.2.0

BlueJ 2.2.0

BlueJ is an integrated Java environment specifically designed for introductory teaching. more>>
BlueJ project is an integrated Java environment (Java IDE) specifically designed for introductory teaching.
The BlueJ environment was developed as part of a university research project about teaching object-orientation to beginners. The system is being developed and maintained by a joint research group at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia, and the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK. The project is supported by Sun Microsystems.
The aim of BlueJ is to provide an easy-to-use teaching environment for the Java language that facilitates the teaching of Java to first year students. Special emphasis has been placed on visualisation and interaction techniques to create a highly interactive environment that encourages experimentation and exploration.
BlueJ is based on the Blue system. Blue is an integrated teaching environment and language, developed at the University of Sydney and Monash University, Australia. BlueJ provides a Blue-like environment for the Java language.
The BlueJ project started at Monash University in Melbourne, and later split and migrated to its current locations.
BlueJ is implemented in Java, and regularly being tested on Solaris, Linux, Macintosh, and various Windows versions. It should run on all platforms supporting a recent Java virtual machine.
Main features:
- fully integrated environment
- graphical class structure display
- graphical and textual editing
- built-in editor, compiler, virtual machine, debugger, etc.
- easy-to-use interface, ideal for beginners
- interactive object creation
- interactive object calls
- interactive testing
- incremental application development

JOLIE 0.9.2

JOLIE 0.9.2

JOLIE is an interpreter for a new high level programming language. more>>
JOLIE is an interpreter for a new high level programming language, designed for SOAs (Service Oriented Architecture) orchestration (as, for example, WSBPEL by OASIS).
The whole program is written entirely in Java to ensure cross-platform capabilities, following strictly an object-oriented development method focused on components reusability and virtualization.
Where does JOLIE come from?
JOLIE was born as a project for a thesis in computer science at the University of Bologna, Italy. The project is based upon a theoretical calculus equipped with semantics (named SOCK), developed in the same university.
Why JOLIE?
Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) may be really difficult to orchestrate and they imply a lot of problematics about connectivity, loosely coupling, parallel execution and so on. JOLIE is an attempt to solve all these issues, providing an easy to use language which abstracts from them all.
Enhancements:
- A new heuristic for improving incoming communication handling performance has been introduced.
- Lot of bug fixes and performance improvements in the session execution engine.
- Request-Response operations must now declare their throwable fault names.

Quantum::Random 0.01

Quantum::Random 0.01

Quantum::Random is an optical quantum random number generator front-end. more>>
Quantum::Random is an optical quantum random number generator front-end.

SYNOPSIS

package Your::Package;

use strict;
use Quantum::Random qw(quantum_random);

my @numbers = quantum_random(10, 5);

die "Error: $Quantum::Random::Errorn" unless @numbers;

print join , , @numbers;

Quantum::Random is a front-end to the optical quantum random number generator at the Computer Science department of the University of Geneva. For details on the generator, visit: http://www.randomnumbers.info/
The site states, "The Computer Science department of the University of Geneva has developed a server/client application for scientist from around the world to be able to download random numbers directly in the C, C+, Fortran or Java codes [sic] used for their simulations."

As they have no stated plans for developing a perl interface, I have taken it upon myself to author one.

USAGE

The subroutine quantum_random will be exported into your namespace as shown above. It accepts two mandatory arguments. The first argument represents the number of random numbers you want (i.e., the quantity) and must be between 1 and 1000. The second argument represents the maximum number that you want any given random number to be (i.e., the maximum) and must be between 1 and 10000. On success, you will be returned a list of random numbers. On failure, you will be returned an empty set and can get details on the failure by checking the contents of $Quantum::Random::Error.
