Kubuntu is an Ubuntu-derived distribution with the K Desktop Environment (KDE). The Kubuntu CDs are made up of Ubuntus base plus KDE. You can get exactly the same effect by installing Ubuntu and adding the KDE packages from the Ubuntu archives.

Kubuntu is the result of several months effort to get KDE 3.4 into Ubuntus main repository and create the first major derived Ubuntu distribution. Kubuntu is not a fork of Ubuntu but an official project of it, sharing the same package archive and infrastructure. It is possible to convert an Ubuntu system to Kubuntu or vice versa.

FUR is a application that let the user mount a Windows CE based device on your Linux file system: it uses the brilliant FUSE (acronym of File system in UserSpacE of Miklos Szeredi) and the great librapi2 of the Synce Project, a unix implementation of the RAPI protocol (that your device use to communicate with your other operating $ystem ) which you can find here, along with other very nice tools.
You execute it with proper arguments, then (if everything goes fine) the entire file system of your (previously connected) handheld will appear automagically mounted like a regular Linux file system where you will be able to copy, move read and write data with your favorite programs.
FUR filesystem means FUSE use libRAPI.
What dose not?
- Not very stable, particulary if used concurrently by different processes (but should be usable).
- Not well tested.
- The source is horrible(Tm).
- The implementation is more involved than it should.
- Lack documentation.
- Not even remotely optimized.
- Configuration tools deficient.
- Random access I/O is anti-optimized.
- Write is bugged (maybe a problem with concurrent file access).
- The resource locking system (e.g. to prevent different processes to write on the same file) is only roughly implemented (theres a lot to be done).
- Total absence of a caching system of some sort (which i hope to implement, sooner or later).
- Some errors are to obscure (and maybe not well implemented).
- Some attributes (e.g. ctime) are not implemented (the needed function in the librapi2 library is not yet implemented).
- No UID/GID check: this is not a security issue: only the user that invoke the dccm demon can access the filesystem, but other users should be able to see some kind of error message (which i will implement soon).
- Lot of other things i have forgot now.
- The log reporting suck

dbmstools module exists mainly for developers who need to support applications on more than one database management system (DBMS). dbmstools is intended to allow all the database information (schema and base data) to be kept in one single place, and to have DBMS-specific scripts (to create and populate the database schema, and upgrade from one version to the next) generated from that data. If youre anything like me you hate duplication in software code, and I wrote this module to remove that duplication.

As well as generation of DBMS-specific DDL and DML, dbmstools can generate schema documentation for any DBMS (including diagrams), and can export data from a database in several formats. It also has wrappers for several of the tools, so that they can be run from within Apache Ant (a Java build system).

The DBMSs supported (and the completeness/maturity of that support) are:

- Postgres (7 and 8) - very good
- Oracle - good
- Microsoft SQLServer - good
- MySQL - good
- Hypersonic - limited.

Enhancements:
- We are excited to announce the release of Ubuntu CE v3.3. This release adds a few new features and several updates and fixes. This release comes just after Ubuntu CEs 1st birthday. We have had a great year and are looking forward to the continued development in the year to come. We have added the WhatWouldJesusDownload toolbar to Firefox. This toolbar gives quick access to many of the great tools available at WhatWouldJesusDownload, the parent site of the Ubuntu CE project. The Ubuntu CE main menu icon has also been enhanced with an overlay to give it a more unique look. This is accomplished using gDesklets which also powers the desktop verse feature.
