Linux::Distribution::Packages 0.05
Linux::Distribution::Packages Perl module contains a list all packages on various Linux distributions. more>>
SYNOPSIS
use Linux::Distribution::Packages qw(distribution_packages distribution_write);
$linux = new Linux::Distribution::Packages({format => csv, output_file => packages.csv});
$linux->distribution_write();
# Or you can (re)set the options when you write.
$linux->distribution_write({format => xml, output_file => packages.xml});
# If you want to reload the package data
$linux->distribution_packages();
This is a simple module that uses Linux::Distribution to guess the linux distribution and then uses the correct commands to list all the packages on the system and then output them in one of three formats: native, csv, and xml.
Distributions currently working: debian, ubuntu, fedora, redhat, suse, gentoo, slackware, redflag.
The module inherits from Linux::Distribution, so can also use its calls.
Sys::Statistics::Linux 0.13
Sys::Statistics::Linux is a Perl module to collect linux system statistics. more>>
SYNOPSIS
use Sys::Statistics::Linux;
my $lxs = new Sys::Statistics::Linux;
$lxs->set(
SysInfo => 1,
CpuStats => 1,
ProcStats => 1,
MemStats => 1,
PgSwStats => 1,
NetStats => 1,
SockStats => 1,
DiskStats => 1,
DiskUsage => 1,
LoadAVG => 1,
FileStats => 1,
Processes => 1,
);
sleep 1;
my $stat = $lxs->get;
This module is the main package from the distribution Sys::Statistics::Linux and collects different linux system informations like processor workload, memory usage, network and disk statisitcs and other system informations. Refer to the documentation of the distribution modules to get more informations about all possible statistics and system informations.
TECHNICAL NOTE
This distribution collects statistics by the virtual /proc filesystem (procfs) and is developed on default vanilla kernels. It is tested on x86 hardware with the distributions SuSE (SuSE on s390 and s390x architecture as well), Red Hat, Debian, Asianux, Slackware and Mandrake on kernel versions 2.4 and 2.6 and should run on all linux kernels with a default vanilla kernel as well. It is possible that this module doesnt run on all distributions if the procfs is too much modified.
For example the linux kernel 2.4 can compiled with the option "CONFIG_BLK_STATS". It is possible to activate or deactivate the block statistics for devices with this option. These statistics doesnt exist in /proc/partitions if this option isnt activated. Since linux kernel 2.5 these statistics are in /proc/diskstats.
Further it is necessary to run it as a user with the authorization to read the /proc filesystem.
DELTAS
The options CpuStats, ProcStats, PgSwStats, NetStats, DiskStats and Processes are deltas, for this reason its necessary to initialize the statistics first, before the data be generated with get(). The statistics can be initialized with the methods new(), set() and init(). Each option that is set to TRUE (1) will be initialized by the call of new() or set(). The call of init() reinitialize all statistics that are set to 1. By the call of get() the initial statistics will be updated automatically. Please refer the METHOD section to get more information about the calls of new(), set() and get().
Another exigence is that you need to sleep for while - at least for one second - before you call get() if you want to get useful statistics. The options SysInfo, MemStats, SockStats, DiskUsage, LoadAVG and FileStats are no deltas. If you need only one of this informations you dont need to sleep before the call of get().
The get() function collects all requested informations and returns a hash reference with the statistics. The inital statistics will be updated. You can turn on and off options with set()

GNU Solfege is free software, and is a part of the GNU Project.
K Menu Gnome 0.6.6
K Menu Gnome project is a K Menu with Gnome folder and extra icons for KDE 3.2 or later. more>>
If you install both KDE and Gnome then K Menu will become a mess with overpopulated submenus. Some distributions try to solve this by hiding many Gnome apps in KDE and most KDE apps in Gnome. I do not like that. I want to access Gnome apps in KDE and KDE apps in Gnome. So this is my attempt to both maintain desktop interoperability and unmess the menus.
Why should one install both KDE and Gnome at all? You might share your machine with somebody who prefers the other desktop, or you might be a desktop junky like I am.
K Menu Gnome does not integrate well with the menus of heavily customized distributions such as Mandriva, SUSE, or UHU-Linux.
Open Motif (OpenMotif) 2.3
Open Motif is the publicly licensed version of Motif, the industry standard user interface toolkit for UNIX. more>>
The `configure shell script will guess correct values for various system-dependent variables used during compilation. It uses those values to create a `Makefile in each directory of the package. It may also create one or more `.h files containing system-dependent definitions. Finally, it creates a shell script `config.status that
you can run in the future to recreate the current configuration, a file `config.cache that saves the results of its tests to speed up reconfiguring, and a file `config.log containing compiler output (useful mainly for debugging `configure).
If you need to do unusual things to compile the package, please try to figure out how `configure could check whether to do them, and mail diffs or instructions to the address given in the `README so they can be considered for the next release. If at some point `config.cache contains results you dont want to keep, you may remove or edit it.
The file `configure.in is used to create `configure by a program called `autoconf. You only need `configure.in if you want to change it or regenerate `configure using a newer version of `autoconf.

KIWI Image System rev435
KIWI Image System provides a complete operating system image solution for Linux supported hardware platforms. more>>
A normal installation process is starting from a given installation source and installs single pieces of software until the system is complete. During this process there may be manual user intervention required. However an operating system image represents an already completed installation encapsulated as a file and optionally includes the configuration for a specific task. Such an operating system starts working as soon as the image has been brought to a system storage device no matter if this is a volatile or non volatile storage. The process of creating an image takes place without user interaction.
This means all requirements of the encapsulated system has to be fulfilled before the image is created. According to this the so called image description tree stores all the information needed to create an image.
Main features:
- Distribution independent
- Support for virtualisation systems like Xen
- Support for deploying images over the network
- Support for VMware / Qemu images
- Support for USB-Stick systems
- Support for LiveCD/DVD systems
- Centralized image description based on XML
- Prebuild boot images for SUSE systems
- Prebuild PXE configuration usable with kiwi netboot images
- SUSE Linux on a 128MB flash card.. yes thats possible
Kickoff Qt Fedora 7 1.0
Kickoff QT desktop panel for KDE is the best effort effort to maximize the users experience. more>>
Kicker QT requires less clicking to launch programs because it uses the mouse over effect which is lacking in other menu launchers. it also loads plugins and uses qtcurve which is lacking in other menu launchers for that eye candy we like. The history feature keeps track of recent programs and files/documents in an organized display which is lacking in other menu launchers. Favorites is as nearly as quick as quick launcher which is lacking in other menu launchers in that it required one click.
Note: Other menu launchers includes Vista.
You can also adjust the size of the menu unlike older menu launchers which become cluttered over time and explode all over your desktop. ;^D
WARNING this is a Force install at the time and will mutilate KDEbase, not for the faint of heart! I am working on the entire KDE 3.5.7 KDE QT which will be debugged for personal use with development on mng animation.
Use this at your own risk!!!
Reboot after installing launch button respones slowly the first few seconds.
Enhancements:
- replaced suse button with FedoraBubbles kbfx button
