Axmjpeg application retrieves JPEG images from an MJPEG over HTTP stream that conforms to the Axis Video API, HTTP Interface Specification.
Axmjpeg retrieves JPEG images from an MJPEG over HTTP stream. The HTTP stream must conform to Revision 2.x of the "Axis Video API, HTTP Interface Specification" (which is available from "http://www.axis.com/techsup/cam_servers/dev/cam_http_api.htm").
Axmjpeg also supports Revision 1.x of this specification provided the optional "Content-Length:" header is enabled.
This tool was written for cammgr, the web camera management software available from "http://freshmeat.net/projects/cammgr". Specifically, it allows cammgr to support the great range of Axis network cameras available from "http://www.axis.com".
However, its easy to come up with other uses for axmjpeg.
The manual page describes the full range of functionality; the basic list is:
- save JPEG images to the same (optionally renamed) file.
- save each JPEG image to a unique file.
- pipe JPEG images to shell commands (for more processing).
- time-based capturing, where only one image per the specified interval will be selected for processing.
Axmjpeg was developed on FreeBSD and tested on a wide range of Unix systems including several Linux variants, HP-UX, Tru64, and SunOS.
Enhancements:
- The image-fetching code was extended to support cameras that send binary headers in the MJPEG HTTP stream.
- This version of axmjpeg is known to support the "SQ IP Cam" and the "GP-280 Network IP Camera."

Prima is an extensible Perl toolkit for multi-platform GUI development. Platforms supported include Linux, Windows NT/9x/2K, OS/2 and UNIX/X11 workstations (FreeBSD, IRIX, SunOS, Solaris and others).

The toolkit contains a rich set of standard widgets and has emphasis on 2D image processing tasks. A Perl program using PRIMA looks and behaves identically on X, Win32 and OS/2 PM.

Prima project includes a visual builder and a graphic POD viewer.

Building:

A Unpack it somewhere. Use

$ tar xzf Prima.tar.gz

on systems with GNU tar, and

$ gzip -cd Prima.tar.gz | tar xf -

on other systems.

cd to Prima directory.

Type perl Makefile.PL

If everything goes well, type make

If everything goes well (previous step is likely to take several minutes), you can, if you wish, type make test and make install. You can also try PRIMA without making install; in this case it is required to set your PERL5LIB environment variable to point to Prima directory.

Try to run samples provided with the package. They are located in the examples subdirectory. Run them as perl examples/filename.pl.

mrtg-ping-probe project monitors round trip time and packet loss to another host. Still on my TODO list: add own min/max/avg rtt calculation, add perl ping module, add rping and rsh support...
mrtg-ping-probe is a ping probe for MRTG 2.x. It is used to monitor the round trip time and packet loss to networked devices. MRTG uses its output to generate graphs visualizing minimum and maximum round trip times or packet loss.
mrtg-ping-probe depends on the following software being installed on your system: perl (at least version 5.6.1), mrtg (I use version 2.8.8, though any mrtg 2.x version should work), and a ping program that displays a summary of the round trip times upon termination or timeout.
mrtg-ping-probe runs on AIX, BSD/OS 2.1, FreeBSD/2.2.x, IRIX/6.2, Linux, Mac OS X (Darwin 5.4), NetBSD, OpenBSD, OS/2, OSF1 V3.2, Solaris 1.1.2 (SunOS 4.1.4), Solaris 2.5.1 (SunOS 5.5.1), Solaris 7 (SunOS 5.7), Solaris 8 (SunOS 5.8), Solaris 9 (SunOS 5.9), HP-UX 9, Windows 98, and Windows 2000 (english, french, portugesee, and spanish locales).
If you install the Windows ping program that comes with Windows 98, Windows 2000, or WinSock 2.x, mrtg-ping-probe will also run on Windows 95 and Windows 4.0.
Support for additional systems is usually easy to add, as described in the file INSTALL.
Act responsible: do not use mrtg-ping-probe to ping devices without the owners permission. Just imagine 10,000 people would decide to ping your hosts ... mrtg-ping-probe is meant to be used within your network to get round trip time performance figures for your network.

System Configuration Collector (SCC) is yet another configuration collector. more>>
System Configuration Collector in short SCC, collects configuration data of systems in snapshots. The structure of the snapshot allows SCC to compare a snapshot with the previous one and detect changes in the configuration.
Upon detecting changes, scc adds the differences to a logbook. The snapshot and the logbook are converted to HTML for local inspection. Optionally, the SCC-files can be send to a system running the SCC server software. On the server, summaries of the SCC-data are generated and search/compare operations on the snapshots and logbooks are available via a web-interface.
The logbook is a starting point in case a system "suddenly" does not work correctly and the administrator is wondering what he/she has changed in the last weeks or months. As most of us know by experience, configuration changes can have accidental side-effects on (other) systems.
By examining the entries in the logbooks and considering the consequences, the cause of an actual problem might be found more easily than by just trying to remember the changes that were performed.
The snapshots can be used to compare the configuration of two systems. Imagine systems, that are supposed to be identical, but behave differently. Comparing parts of the snapshots of the two systems can indicate the cause of the difference in behavior.
Enhancements:
- The DIV tags in the HTML was corrected.
- Directory data/transfer was created to avoid errors in scc-pull. cpu-speed for SunOS was added.
- The machinfo variable is now initialized.
- The determination of local filesystems on Linux was corrected.
- Squid classification was corrected.

The Boehm-Demers-Weiser conservative garbage collector can be used as a garbage collecting replacement for C malloc or C++ new.
Boehm-Demers-Weiser Conservative Garbage Collector allows you to allocate memory basically as you normally would, without explicitly deallocating memory that is no longer useful. The collector automatically recycles memory when it determines that it can no longer be otherwise accessed.
The collector is also used by a number of programming language implementations that either use C as intermediate code, want to facilitate easier interoperation with C libraries, or just prefer the simple collector interface.
Alternatively, the garbage collector may be used as a leak detector for C or C++ programs, though that is not its primary goal.
Typically several versions will be available. Usually you should first try to use gc_source/gc.tar.gz, which is normally an older, more stable version.
If that fails, try the latest explicitly numbered version in gc_source/. Later versions may contain additional features, platform support, or bug fixes, but are likely to be less well tested. Note that versions containing the letters alpha are even less well tested than others, especially on non-HP platforms.
A slightly older version of the garbage collector is now also included as part of the GNU compiler distribution.
The collector uses a mark-sweep algorithm. It provides incremental and generational collection under operating systems which provide the right kind of virtual memory support. (Currently this includes SunOS[45], IRIX, OSF/1, Linux, and Windows, with varying restrictions.)
It allows finalization code to be invoked when an object is collected. It can take advantage of type information to locate pointers if such information is provided, but it is usually used without such information. ee the README and gc.h files in the distribution for more details.
The garbage collector distribution includes a C string (cord) package that provides for fast concatenation and substring operations on long strings. A simple curses- and win32-based editor that represents the entire file as a cord is included as a sample application.
Performance of the nonincremental collector is typically competitive with malloc/free implementations. Both space and time overhead are likely to be only slightly higher for programs written for malloc/free (see Detlefs, Dosser and Zorns Memory Allocation Costs in Large C and C++ Programs.)
For programs allocating primarily very small objects, the collector may be faster; for programs allocating primarily large objects it will be slower. If the collector is used in a multithreaded environment and configured for thread-local allocation, it may in some cases significantly outperform malloc/free allocation in time.
We also expect that in many cases any additional overhead will be more than compensated for by decreased copying etc. if programs are written and tuned for garbage collection.
Enhancements:
- The C code now requires at least C89.
- The live data in the heap is now counted, helping to make the heap expansion heuristic more robust.
- Thread local allocation support was enhanced.
- Some obsolete platform support such as old-style Solaris threads was removed.
- Some new platform support was added.
- Various bugs were fixed.

C++ Portable Types Library (PTypes) is a simple alternative to the STL that includes multithreading and networking. C++ Portable Types Library (PTypes) defines dynamic strings, variants, character sets, lists and other basic data types along with portable thread and synchronization objects, IP sockets and named pipes. Its main `target audience is developers of complex network daemons, robots or non-visual client/server applications of any kind.
PTypes defines simple and intuitive interfaces and differs from the STL in fairly moderate use of templates. The library is portable across many modern operating systems (currently FreeBSD, Linux, SunOS, Mac OS X and Windows). All platform-dependent issues are hidden inside. A simple web server called wshare is included in the package to demonstrate the full power of the library.
And finally, PTypes is open and free.
Main features:
- Threads and synchronization primitives solve the vital problem of diversity of the threading APIs on different platforms. The library also offers message queues and job queues as additional methods of thread synchronization and maintenance.
- IP socket classes and utilities provide complete IP-based framework for both client-side and server-side programming. Combined with PTypes multithreading, these classes can be used for designing complex non-visual applications, such like network daemons or web robots.
- Dynamic strings, variants, character sets, date/time type and various kinds of dynamic and associative arrays: Delphi programmers will find them very similar to the ones in their favorite language. The collection of these basic data types may be useful, among other things, for building compilers and interpreters for higher-level languages.
- Streaming interfaces provide buffered I/O with simple and powerful text parsing methods. A strictly defined syntax for a given text format or a formal language can be represented by calls to PTypes token extraction methods. The unified streaming interface is applicable to files, named pipes and network sockets.
- Special thread class with enhanced functionality called unit. Units have their own main() and input/output plugs; they can be connected to each other within one application to form pipes, like processes in the UNIX shell.
- Finally, everything above is portable: all platform-dependent details are hidden inside.

Nexenta is a complete GNU-based open source operating system built on top of the OpenSolaris kernel and runtime.
It is a result of our inspiration and desire to build a great system based on the best existing software: SunOS kernel and GNU software. We use Debian - one of the best existing software distribution/packaging mechanisms - to glue the numerous pieces together.
At the moment, Nexenta is not part of the Debian Project. Our packages are not present in the Debian database. We are hoping that in the future this will change and our packages will get their "upstream acceptance".
Nexenta OS has been a hard and challenging work, yet every bit of it is fun! We spent many hours building the system and today it is out - itll start speaking for itself.
Nexenta is completely open source and free of any charge.
It contains Apache, MySQL, Perl/Python/PHP, Firefox, Evolution, software update manager, Synaptic package manager, Gaim Instant Messenger, abiword, administration & development utilities, editors, graphics, GNOME, interpreters, libraries and many others. ExtUtils::F77 is a simple Perl interface to F77 libs.

This module tries to figure out how to link C programs with Fortran subroutines on your system. Basically one must add a list of Fortran runtime libraries. The problem is their location and name varies with each OS/compiler combination!
This module tries to implement a simple rule-of-thumb database for various flavours of UNIX systems.

A simple self-documenting Perl database of knowledge/code for figuring out how to link for various combinations of OS and compiler is embedded in the modules Perl code. Please help save the world by sending database entries for your system to kgb@aaoepp.aao.gov.au

The library list which the module returns can be explicitly overridden by setting the environment variable F77LIBS, e.g.

% setenv F77LIBS "-lfoo -lbar"
% perl Makefile.PL
...

METHODS

The following methods are provided:

runtime

Returns a list of F77 runtime libraries.

$fortranlibs = ExtUtils::F77->runtime;

runtimeok

Returns TRUE only if runtime libraries have been found successfully.

trail_

Returns true if F77 names have trailing underscores.

compiler

Returns command to execute the compiler (e.g. f77).

cflags

Returns compiler flags.

testcompiler

Test to see if compiler actually works.

More methods will probably be added in the future.

BetaFTPD provides a single-threaded, small FTP daemon.
BetaFTPD is a single-threaded FTP daemon. The single-threadedness makes it faster than most other FTP daemons (contrary to common belief), and makes it extremely light on memory.
Although it lacks a few functions (which you probably wont miss), the current version is very small and has a decent amount of functionality.
BetaFTPD is built on the concept of heavy code reuse, which should hopefully make it easier for other programmers to contribute.
Enhancements:
- Support for not running as root.
- Fixed a LOT of bugs, some segfaulting, some minor.
- MAJOR performance improvements in almost all areas.
- Some changes to compile better under Debian GNU/Linux, a debian/ directory, and .deb files available for download.
- BetaFTPD will now try to install itself (wow! (not)) in the same directory as the file called `ftpd, if you have that file.
- Support for non-Linux platforms! For now, only SunOS/SVR4 and FreeBSD.
- Gave the version its own name, like Samba does.

Quick Image Viewer (qiv) is a very small and fast GDK/Imlib image viewer designed to replace the classic image viewers like xv or xloadimage. Quick Image Viewer program runs on FreeBSD, Linux (libc5/glibc), Solaris (SunOS) and HP-UX.
