<<lessQpopper 4.1a5
Qpopper is the most widely-used server for the POP3 protocol. more>>
Qpoppers goals are: security, stability, safety, features, and performance.
The 3 and later code base has multiple levels of protection again common security vulnerabilities, so even if there is a bug at one level, the other levels can protect against an exploit. Stability means running without crashing or other problems. All bug reports are reviewed and taken seriously.
Safety means protecting the users mail. Qpopper takes extra precautions to guard against spool corruption, even if there is a system crash or power failure during an update. Qpopper provides a large number of features, such as bulletins, support for wireless devices, APOP, integration with packages such as Kerberos, drac, etc.
Qpopper strives for the maximum possible performance consistent with safety. You can also tell Qpopper when it is running in an environment where some precautions are not required, resulting in extra performance (for example, if users do not access mail using shell accounts).
This server is fully compliant with RFC 1939 (which defines the POP protocol) and RFC 2449 (which defines the POP extension mechanism and the extended response codes), and works with all known POP3 clients.
Qpopper also supports Kerberos V4 and V5 if enabled.
Main features:
- Faster start-up (1,000 times faster, in many cases)
- Reduced I/O at session end (one-third less!)
- TLS/SSL (allows authentication and email to be strongly encrypted between any TLS/SSL-enabled mail client and Qpopper 4.0.5; requires TLS/SSL)
- Plus all the great features of Qpopper 3.1 (including full sources)
- Most compile-time options now are available at run-time
- Easier administration

Trophy 1.1.5
Trophy project is an action car racing game. more>>
Trophy is an action car racing game for Linux. Its 2D (top-view) but aims to provide high quality graphics.
You can shoot, drop bombs, and drive against the other players.
IDND 1.4
IDND is a Firefox extension that puts a little flag in the status bar that tells you whether you are visiting a TDN or a IDN. more>>
IDNs can be used for phishing or spoofing, so suspicious IDNs cause an optional alert box to appear further warning you to take care. This is in no way sufficient protection against all kinds of spoofing, but does add to your browsers defences.
In the status bar a green or blue flag shows whether the current page has a traditional (A-Z 0-9 -) or an international domain name. In this way you have more protection against homograph attacks.
TrackMeNot 0.5.17
TrackMeNot protects users against search data profiling by issuing randomized queries to popular search-engines. more>>
MathGuard 3.0
MathGuard project is a PHP class that inserts a small piece of HTML code into your HTML form... more>>
When user submits the form with the answer, the answer is hashed and compared to the security code that has been submitted as well. This way you can easily protect your forms from spambots.
Enhancements:
- This version features more complex rendering of the security question.
- This question now consists of small random letters directly inserted to HTML, instead of just writing the plain numbers into the source code of the Web page.
- This way, the protection against spambots is even stronger.
PhishBouncer 2.1
PhishBouncer project is an advanced Java HTTP(S) proxy with anti-phishing capabilities. more>>
PhishBouncer is an anti-phishing platform based on an HTTP/HTTPS proxy integrating anti-phishing checks that do not depend on block lists or Phish signatures. The checking algorithms make use of the attributes of the web-site being visited, the structure and properties of the referring URL, and the web-sites association with other legitimate web-sites that the user interacts with. The checks are implemented as plug-in interceptors, and it is easy to modify them and add or remove new checks. Apart from defense against Phishing, PhishBouncer is also a platform for developing and testing new anti-Phishing checks.
For ease of rapid prototyping and testing of anti-Phishing checks with real and reliable test data, a crawl-and-drive framework is also provided-- all you need is an APWG membership to be able to download Phish Reports from APWG and follow the instructions provided. This framework will periodically download new Phish URLs from APWG, and visit the Phish sites using the PhishBouncer proxy first without and then with the anti-Phishing checks. All results are logged so that dead or broken sites (i.e., sites that produced errors in either visit) can be culled, and the remaining data can be used to obtain an accurate count of how many Phish sites were flagged by the currently active checks.
The HTTP/HTTPS proxy framework can also be used to insert other types of adaptive behavior in the HTTP/HTTPS based interaction by replacing the plug-in interceptors executing anti-phishing checks by other interceptors that performs logging, filtering (as in parental control), load-balancing, QoS-based redirection etc.
PhishBouncer was developed by BBN under an R&D project supported by the Homeland Security Advanced Research Project Agency (HSARPA), under its Cyber Security R&D program.
Main features:
- Implemented in Java, therefore less vulnerable to traditional exploits (e.g., buffer overflow attacks)
- Architectural solution with stronger guarantees than browser plug-ins (can catch phishing attacks even if the browser is closed or not part of the communication)
- Browser independent - supports all web browsers
- Operating system independent - supports all operating systems that can run Java
- Highly customizable deployment options - runs on user hosts, wireless routers, or network server
- Open framework and plug-in architecture - allows easy addition of new checks
- Attribute-based detection - provides protection against unknown phishing attacks
- Supports reactive and proactive anti-phishing checks
- Supports HTTP and HTTPS
Arnos IPTABLES Firewall Script 1.8.8i
Arnos IPTABLES firewall script was initially written because I needed to protect my single-homed Linux machine at work. more>>
I helped him for several months with the work on his script by suppling patches, reporting bugs etc. In this period I was fortunately also able to master scripting for iptables myself because soon Seven discontinued his work, I never got to even talk to the guy ever again. At that point I decided to continue his work, or actually I started my own branch based on his script.
In the summer of 2002 I finally got an ADSL connection at home. Initially I used the iptables firewall that came with the great ADSL4LINUX-package (http://www.adsl4linux.nl). But it didnt take me long to come to the conclusion that their iptables firewall lacked important features like port-forwarding and flexbility with "trusted hosts" etc.
I also didnt like the fact that I had to use a different firewall for my home machine and the machine at work. This made me decide to use some of the ADSL4LINUX knowledge to implement ADSL support.
By now (about 1 year later as of writing) there are only few remnants left of Sevens original script and many, many, many improvements were applied. One major improvement is the ADSL and NAT support (Check the features page with the specifiations of my firewall). For version 2 (alpha) I plan to completely rewrite to script to make it more flexible and to increase the usability for others.
Main features:
- Very secure stateful filtering firewall
- Both kernel 2.4 & 2.6 support
- It can be used for both single- and multi(eg. dual)-homed boxes
- Masquerading (NAT) and SNAT support
- Multiple external (internet) interfaces
- Support multiroute NAT & SNAT (load balancing over multiple (internet) interfaces)
- Port forwarding (NAT)
- Support MAC address filtering
- Support for DSL/ADSL modems
- Support for PPPoE, PPPoA and bridging modem setups
- Support for static and ISP assigned (DHCP) IPs
- Support for (transparent) proxies
- Full support for DMZs and DMZ-2-LAN forwarding. You can also use it to isolate your eg. wireless LAN.
- (Nmap)(stealth) portscan detection
- Protection against SYN-flooding (DoS attacks)
- Protection against ICMP-flooding (DoS attacks)
- Extensive user-definable logging with rate limiting to prevent log flooding
- Includes options to optimize your throughput
- User definable open ports, closed ports, trusted hosts, blocked hosts etc.
- Log & protection options are both highly customizable
- Support for custom iptables rules in a seperate file
- It can be used with chkconfig runlevel system (eg. RedHat/Fedora)
- Main focus on TCP/UDP/ICMP but additional support for *ALL* IP protocols
- It works with Freeswan IPSEC (VPN) & SSH Sentinel (http://www.freeswan.org) (+virtual IPs)
- It works with PoPTop PPTP (http://www.poptop.org)
- It works with UPnP
- DRDOS protection/detection (experimental)
- Its easy to configure
- And much more.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes a nasty bug in the NAT forwarding rules that caused using subnet-source-restrictions not to work.
- It adds an extra rule to the DHCP server section to allow packets from DHCP servers in the same segment.
- There are several plugin updates.
- A Racoon IPSEC VPN plugin and a transparent DNAT plugin have been added.
Nuhe 0.03
Nuhe is a rule based log monitoring system, which is capable of action when rules are matched againsts log(s) activity. more>>
Motive for Nuhe development started from security point of view and one purpose is to use it as a intrusion protection system that can react against certain kind of log activity. You can also use Nuhe as a vanilla "log filtering" system, that detects events from logs, logs them, but does not react against them.
One example of Nuhe usage is to use rule that detects multiple SSH connection attemps and drops IP address (e.g. with Linux iptables) where connections are coming. Nuhe is very handy in this situation, because user can configure it to ignore important IP addresses, so theyre not blocked by firewall and specify events to be indentified only by IP address information.
With that rule and action handler user can paralyze brute force attacks. However Nuhe can be described as a general rule based monitoring system which can run system commands in phases based on time and event criteria and hopefully this gives many areas of use for it.
Enhancements:
- Added reset string functionality for actions, reset strings are used to to discard associated events.
- With "lastmsg" parameter (in nuhed.conf) you can match syslog "last message repeated n times" string. Nuhe process previous syslog entry as many times as it was repeated.
- More support for upcoming nodemanager and some bug fixes and changes.
