Downloader for X is a Linux/Unix userfriendly program with nice X interface to download files from the Internet. It supports both FTP and HTTP protocols, supports resuming (of course if server side supports it) and makes downloading files from internet easy. Downloader for X is an analogue for Linux/Unix of such famous applications for Windows as ReGet, Go!Zilla and GetRight.
Of course this program is not a copy of any of programs above. Downloader for X was written from scratch by me in the hope to decrease a pain of downloading many files from Internet even on really bad modem lines. But if you are happy owner of T1 connection then D4X is for you too because It can use this bandwidth completely! And this is not a end of the list of Downloader for Xs features!
Not completed list of key features:
- Supporting both FTP and HTTP protocols as well as HTTP and FTP proxy servers. SOCKS5 support is also included! Authentication on the proxy servers is supported too.
-The Program keep the logs of all download sessions that allows advanced user to monitor problems manualy according information from these logs.
- It allows users to manage their downloads in real time. User can pause, continue, move in queue, add new downloads and remove downloads manualy. User also can allow to remove completed or failed downloads automatically by the program.
- Recursive downloading via FTP as well as via HTTP is supported. Powerful Filters-manager allow advanced user to specify files which must to be downloaded and files which must to be skipped. Wildcards are supported for FTP downloads too.
- Ability to download in more than one connection per time. Usualy downloading using number of connections increases speed of downloading up to 300% and even more!
- Supporting of so called `Persistent connections increases speed of downloading due much less amount of `standing connection stages. With this feature D4X uses connections to the servers many times. Persistent connections over HTTP are supported automaticaly but persistent connections over FTP can be turned on by user (Do not send QUIT command option of FTP settings).
- Ability to limit download speed of separate file as well as for the whole program allows modem user browse through the Web and download files at the same time.
- Built-in Scheduller, URL-manager and Automatically adding allow advaced user to simplify managing downloads by various criterias.
- Multiqueued design, ability to run without X interface, ability to manage D4X via command line and many other features will satisfy anybody who find a time to learn this program.

Search engines like Google do a fine job when it comes to search, but they do little to help us organise our past searches, nor do they make it easy for us to share our search experiences with others. This is more than just an inconvenience because very often we waste time re-searching for results that we know we found earlier. And even more often we find ourselves looking for information that one of our friends or colleagues has already found.

Enhancements:

• Added promotion filters that restrict result promotions in Google to results that have been selected numerous times, that have been tagged, or that have been voted up more times than they have been voted down.
• Added positive/negative promotion filters to stak creation so that users can cause URLs with the specified string to always or never be promoted on Google result pages.
• Result site favicons are used to annotate URLs promoted by positive filters (where available).
• Added timeouts which reset to the private "My Searches" stak after prolonged inactivity, and that expire the use of query terms as default tags and vote terms.
• Voting and page sharing have been added to the activity feed
• Share and remove options are greyed out in the stak menu for staks where this should not be possible (e.g. "My Searches").
• Added "Preview" feature via an icon next to results on the Google result list users can now browse through the result pages without leaving the result list.
• Enabled page sharing and preview features for non logged-in users.
• Improved the formatting of the icons inserted next to results on the Google result page so that they don't "jump" when results are moused-over.

GSAMBAD is a frontend for the Samba file and print server. GSAMBAD project features multiple local and remote user and group imports, on the fly share creation, and user handling, including randomization of usernames and passwords.

ogre4j project enables the use of the OGRE (Object-Oriented Graphics Rendering Engine) libraries in Java applications.

The first approach was made by Ivica Aracic aka bytelord (http://www.bytelords.de). Thanks to him for taking the first steps!
The last stable CVS version located at the OGRE SourceForge.net project page is based on his code but the new team is working on a complete new version that will be more powerful (hopefully).

To ease the pain for those who are using OGRE in C++ the usage of ogre4j will be straight forward. Every public interface of the OGRE library will be available through Java Native Interface (JNI) in the Java world.

Postal suite currently consists of two programs, Postal and Rabid. Postal (the mad postman) is a program that will deliver mail as fast as possible via the SMTP protocol to test mail server performance.
Rabid (the mad Biff) will eat mail via the POP protocol as fast as possible and measure POP server performance. All messages sent via Postal have MD5 checksums appended, and Rabid will check the MD5 to ensure that the messages are not being corrupted.
It works by taking a list of user names and applying random transformations to them to get the FROM and TO addresses, this is because if each email address takes 30 bytes of storage then 1,000,000 accounts would take 30M of RAM. 3,000,000 accounts would take 90M of RAM which would be more than the memory in my test machine (this would cause thrashing and make the benchmark invalid), and it would take ages to load all that data from the hard drive. Using 100,000 accounts and applying a transformation to map them to 30M accounts is a much more efficient use of resources.
When sending the mail the subject and body will be random data. A header field X-Postal will be used so that procmail can easily filter out such email just in case you accidentally put your own email address as one of the test addresses. ;)
For Debian the best thing to do is to do "apt-get install postal", if you dont want to use the version supplied with your version of Debian you can build a Debian package in the usual manner.
Change to the directory containing the unpacked source and use the command:
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -tc -us
That will create a .deb in the parent directory.
For Red Hat etc there is a portslave.spec file to allow for building with
the "rpm -b" command.
For Solaris use the command "make -C sun" to build a package in /var/spool/pkg
(make sure you have write access to that directory).
For other Unix setup "./configure ; make install" should do an install.
