Firefox for Linux 2.0.0.6
Mozilla Firefox 2 for Linux version. more>> Mozilla Firefox is a fast, full-featured Web browser that makes browsing more efficient than ever before. Firefox includes pop-up blocking; a tab-browsing; integrated Google searching; simplified privacy controls that let you cover your tracks more effectively; a streamlined browser window that shows you more of the page than any other browser; and a number of additional features that work with you to help you get the most out of your time online.
Session Restore
Losing your place while youre doing things on the Web is a pain. Now, with Session Restore, if Firefox has to restart or closes when it comes back youll pick up exactly where you left off. The windows and tabs you were using, the text you typed into forms, and the in-progress downloads you had running will all be restored. You can even set Firefox 2 to always restore your previous session instead of loading a home page, so youll never lose your place again.
Web Feeds (RSS)
What do news headlines, indie rock podcasts, and pictures of kittens have in common? Theyre all things that you can subscribe to with Web feeds. Firefox 2 gives you full control over Web feeds, showing you a preview and letting you choose how you want to subscribe. You can use a Firefox Live Bookmark, or a feed reader that youve installed on your computer, or through a Web service such as My Yahoo!, Bloglines or Google Reader.

ogre4j project enables the use of the OGRE (Object-Oriented Graphics Rendering Engine) libraries in Java applications.
The first approach was made by Ivica Aracic aka bytelord (http://www.bytelords.de). Thanks to him for taking the first steps!
The last stable CVS version located at the OGRE SourceForge.net project page is based on his code but the new team is working on a complete new version that will be more powerful (hopefully).
To ease the pain for those who are using OGRE in C++ the usage of ogre4j will be straight forward. Every public interface of the OGRE library will be available through Java Native Interface (JNI) in the Java world.

OpenScientist 16.0
OpenScientist is an integration of open source products working together to do scientific visualization and data analysis. more>>
OpenScientist is an integration of open source products working together to do scientific visualization and data analysis, in particular for high energy physics (HEP).
The project is definitely NOT one million lines of intricated and unnecessary complicated home made code reinventing everything.
Motivations
Experiments in high energy and nuclear physics need to be at the edge of computing technologies but at the same time have to face a very long life time (LHC experiments are going to be a matter of decades). This involves that the software must be organized in a way that permits to include or discard some technologies in an easy way without having to recode everything at each change of a piece.
For data analysis, the HEP community had used the CERN/PAW tool for years. Whilst this program had been used and is probably still used by hundred of physicists in the world, it is not any more maintained by the lab that created and promoted it : CERN. This lab had not been able to establish long term collaborative software engineering plans in order to have a technical follow up of this program and analysis tools in general. (What is astounding, is that the same people that were behind CERN/PAW come now with another tool (ROOT) which has exactly the same engineering defects).
OpenScientist is first of all an architecture trying to handle the problem differently to avoid upseting huge software phase transitions in the future. The key points of the system are the modularity and the openness. See the Languages, Coarse graining architecture, and The file formats intrinsic pain section for more about the technical choices and design.
Enhancements:
- An HDF5 driver was introduced in BatchLab.
- The build system was replaced with obuild.
- Support for CoinPython was added.
- Initial support was added for both Qt4 and SDL.
- Examples were added.
- Assorted code cleanups and speedups were done.

classesfaq 0.943
classesfaq is a Perl module with frequently asked questions about the Perl classes pragma. more>>
classesfaq is a Perl module with frequently asked questions about the Perl classes pragma.
Main features:
- Compile-time classes, no base class required
- Dynamic classes, alter or create at run-time
- Attributes, class and object, private, read-only, public
- Mixins, methods by name or regx, attributes also
- Single and multiple inheritance
- Accessors, optimized, overridable with read-only
- Accessor dispatch methods set and get
- Method declaration, delegation, ABSTRACT and EMPTY
- Separate new and clone methods, overridable
- Optional initialize method, aggregation
- Utility methods: dump, load, CLASS, SUPER
- Dynamically preserved declaration and mixin tracking
- Simplified exceptions, one line exception classes with inheritance trees
- Base exception class, light, robust, traceable
- 8 reusable exception classes in X:: namespace
- Compatible standard internals, easy porting, no surprises
What is the classes pragma?
A simple, stable, fast, and flexible way to use Perl 5 classes. If you look at no other Perl OO module look at this one, really. If you have done OO in Perl you will find this comfortably familiar. If not you may save yourself time and pain learning the classes pragma first or as you learn Perl OO--many have already.
Why should I use the classes pragma?
- Relevant: fills real-world need for conventional Perl OO
- Lazy: 100+ conventional lines reduced to 1
- Simple: standard readable terms, UML friendly
- Stable: 1000+ unit test points, used reliably in large applications
- Portable: OS independent, single file, 100% pure perl
- Fast: benchmarks faster or equal to the long way
- Light: only standard deps, requires greater than 5.6.1
- Sustainable: tag model, clean, commented
- Open: Perl artistic license, multi-language friendly
- Supported: mailing list, site, documented, actively maintained
If for no other reason because it is a new approach.

rpng/rpng2/wpng are the demo programs that accompany OReillys PNG: The Definitive Guide.
rpng is a simple file viewer with the ability to set a background color when displaying transparent PNGs.
rpng2 is a progressive PNG viewer, designed to work like a web browser (though it contains no network code); it can generate a background image when displaying transparent PNGs.
wpng is a simple converter from NetPBM to PNG format; in most respects it is much more limited than pnmtopng, but it supports interactive entry of PNG text annotations and will generate noninterlaced PNGs on the fly (rather than buffering the entire image first like pnmtopng).
The viewers include simple front ends for both X and Win32; the converter is a command-line app that compiles on Unix, Windows, and probably other platforms.

Enhancements:
- Myah OS 3 Tech Demo 2 is now available. This is still a development release but it should be fairly stable and have a well rounded selection of applications. It should mirror what the Xfce version of 3.0 will look like. There are still three objectives that need to be met before 3.0 stable: firstly, to get the system well tested to weed out any bugs or setting changes, secondly, to work on Myahs package management system, and finally, there is still no actual installer. Both binary packages and source packages will be made available and since the bulk of the system has been completed, development should come much faster from now on.
