Fast Data Transfer 0.8.0
Fast Data Transfer is an application for efficient data transfers that is capable of reading and writing at disk speed. more>>
It can be used to stream a large set of files across the network, so a large dataset composed of thousands of files can be sent or received at full speed, without the network transfer restarting between files.
The project is written in Java, runs an all major platforms, and is easy to use.
Main features:
- Streams a dataset (list of files) continuously, using a managed pool of buffers through one or more TCP sockets.
- Uses independent threads to read and write on each physical device
- Transfers data in parallel on multiple TCP streams, when necessary
- Uses appropriate-sized buffers for disk I/O and for the network
- Restores the files from buffers asynchronously
- Resumes a file transfer session without loss, when needed
Tk::Adjuster 804.027
Tk::Adjuster module will allow size of packed widgets to be adjusted by user. more>>
SYNOPSIS
use Tk::Adjuster;
$adjuster = $widget->Adjuster(?options?);
WIDGET-SPECIFIC OPTIONS
Name: restore
Class: Restore
Switch: -restore
Specifies a boolean value that determines whether the Adjuster should forcibly attempt to make room for itself (by reducing the size of its managed widget) when it is unmapped (for example, due to a size change in a top level window). The default value is 1.
Name: side
Class: Side
Switch: -side
Specifies the side on which the managed widget lies relative to the Adjuster. In conjunction with the pack geometry manager, this relates to the side of the master against which the managed widget and the Adjuster are packed. Must be left, right, top, or bottom. Defaults to top.
Name: widget
Class: Widget
Switch: -widget
Specifies the widget which is to be managed by the Adjuster.
Tk::Adjuster is a Frame containing a "line" and a "blob".
Dragging with Mouse Button-1 results in a line being dragged to indicate new size. Releasing Button-1 submits GeometryRequests on behalf of the managed widget which will cause the packer to change the widgets size.
If Drag is done with Shift button down, then GeometryRequests are made in "real time" so that text-flow effects can be seen, but as a lot more work is done behaviour may be sluggish.
If widget is packed with -side => left or -side => right then width is adjusted. If packed -side => top or -side => bottom then height is adjusted.
packPropagate is turned off for the master window to prevent adjustment changing overall window size. Similarly packPropagate is turned off for the managed widget if it has things packed inside it. This is so that the GeometryRequests made by Tk::Adjuster are not overridden by pack.
In addition, the managed widget is made non-expandable to prevent the geometry manager reallocating freed space in the master back to the managed widget. Note however that expansion is turned off only after the Adjuster is mapped, which allows the managed widget to expand naturally on window creation.
The Tk::Widget method, packAdjust, calls pack on the widget, then creates an instance of Tk::Adjuster, and packs that "after" the widget. Its use has two disadvantages however: the Adjuster widget is not made available to the caller, and options cannot be set on the Adjuster. For these reasons, the Tk::Adjuster method, packAfter is preferred, but packAdjust is retained for backwards compatibility.
Apple Disk Transfer ProDOS 1.0.2
Apple Disk Transfer ProDOS transfers diskettes and logical disk images between Apple ][-era computers and the modern world. more>>
Main features:
- Compatibility with any device ProDOS can read
- Compatibility with any Apple ][ (or clone) computer with 64k memory
- Compatibility with many logical disk image formats: .DSK, .PO, .NIB, 2IMG
- Server compatibility with original ADT client program
- Server compatibility with Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, and probably Solaris
- Ability to bootstrap an Apple ][ from bare metal over serial or cassette ports
- Ability to send floppies in "batch" mode without having to name each one
Server
The server program runs on a computer capable of running Java. Depending on how you want to connect to your Apple, you might also need a serial port and cables, an Uthernet card for your apple, or a couple of audio patch cables. The server offers a compact user interface that shows what communications are taking place between the host and the Apple ][.
The servers primary role is to send and receive disk images as requested from the client. But if you have recently acquired an Apple and a disk drive, and you have no software for it - youre in a bit of a tricky situation if you want to move software from the Internet all the way to your shiny new Apple. ADTPros server can help get you get bootstrapped.
Client
The client side runs on the Apple ][. It handles most of the user interaction. When choosing disks/volumes to transfer, anything that ProDOS can see is fair game. Transferring data occurs with a 20k buffer on the Apple, so all transfers are broken up into 20k chunks. A progress indicator shows how far it is into the current chunk, as well as a running count of the total progress.
Enhancements:
- This release has been enhanced with Jean-Marc Boutillon (Deckard)s FASTDSK fast Disk II reading routines.
- This results in a speed boost of 25%-33% for Disk II to host transfers.
- Bootstrapping operations have been reduced, as there is no longer a dependency on ProDOS BASIC.

SunflowerApplet 0.7
SunflowerApplet changes the shadow on the windows managed by compiz when the decorator plugin is enabled. more>>
The shadow on the window moves from left to right from 6am to 6pm, and stays static from 6pm to 6am, as if the shadow is being cast by the "sun" moving right to left over your windows. This is just a toy.
SunflowerApplet requires compiz to be the window manager and the compiz decorator plugin to be active.
Enhancements:
- Use Stock Close button on Preferences Window
- Place dot on map for chosen location
- Create SunflowerApplet.server as part of the configure process
- Graphical location picker
Database of Managed Objects 2.4 Beta
DMO stands for Database of Managed Objects. more>>
Database of Managed Objects provides an object-based overlay on a MySQL database, with a Web-based interface, which allows new objects to be defined in a hierarchy.
Each object can have attributes defined, which are inherited by objects below in the hierarchy. Information can be imported in CSV or XML format, and reports can be produced in XML, CSV, PDF and HTML formats.
DMO uses PHP and MySQL to support documentation of all network and system objects within your computing environment. It offers a Web interface that enables easy navigation through objects, instances and attributes, with XML and access controls.
Enhancements:
- This is the first significant release of DMO for nearly two years.
- It works with Linux and Windows (XAMPP), but should work well with any LAMP stack including PHP4.
- New features include much more graphical viewing, as well as mapping objects onto maps with drill-down to additional layers of maps following dependency trails, a new Flash viewer for browsing through objects, and the ability to create chains of objects based on any attribute type (where any other object can be an attribute of any other object).
NcFTP Client 3.2.1
NcFTP Client is a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client applications. more>>
Although the program appears to be rather spartan, youll find that ncftp has a wealth of valuable performance and usage features. The program was designed with an emphasis on usability, and it does as much as it can for you automatically so you can do what you expect to do with a file transfer program, which is transfer files between two interconnected systems.
Some of the cooler features include progress meters, filename completion, command-line editing, background processing, auto-resume downloads, bookmarking, cached directory listings, host redialing, working with firewalls and proxies, downloading entire directory trees, etc., etc.
The ncftp distribution comes with the useful utility programs ncftpget(1) and ncftpput(1) which were designed to do command-line FTP. In particular, they are very handy for shell scripts. This version of ncftp no longer does command-line FTP, since the main ncftp program is more of a browser-type program.
