Me TV 0.3.0

Me TV 0.3.0

Me TV is a digital television viewer for GNOME. more>>
Me TV is a digital television viewer for GNOME.
The software was developed for the modern digital lounge room with a PC for a media centre that is capable of normal PC tasks (web surfing, word processing and watching TV). It is not designed to be a full-blown media centre such as MythTV but will integrate well with the existing GNOME desktop. If you think that a remote is something that belongs in a museum then Me TV is probably for you.
It currently supports only DVB-T but Im willing to add support for other DVB types because it seems straight forward. It just needs to be tested.
Main features:
- Completely mouse driven
- Current and future program information
- Instant Record
- Double-click fullscreen
- DVB-T and DVB-C support
- Very simple installation and set up

Hoc 9.1.2

Hoc 9.1.2

Hoc is an interpreted language for floating-point calculations. more>>
Hoc (short from High Order Calculator) is an interpreted language for floating-point calculations. Its most basic use is as a powerful and convenient calculator, interactively evaluating expressions such as 1+2*sin(0.7). But hoc is no ordinary calculator: It also lets you assign values to variables, define your own functions, and use loops, conditionals, and everything else youd expect in a programming language.

The Hoc language was introduced and developed in the book The Unix Programming Environment, by Brian Kernighan and Rob Pike (Addison-Wesley, 1984). Countless people are indebted to this book, and its author, for introducing them to Unix and its fantastic programming tools like the shell, C, and Yacc. Some of these people were strongly impressed by Kernighan and Pikes feat of building an interpreter so easily (something which, before the advent of Yacc, was to be attempted only by experts).

One of these people was Nadav HarEl, the author of this package, who in 1986, as an 11 year old boy, typed in the source code of "Hoc 6" from the book, and started using it and once in a while added to it features that he wished for. This package is the result of almost a decade of such slow evolution of Hoc. It has numerous improvements over the books version, which are described below. The code was also modernized, to compile and run on a large variety of machines and compilers that appeared since 1984, and most importantly on ANSI C compilers (although the code should still work on a K&R C compiler, if you can find one in a museum).

Compiling and Installing:

First run configure, to generate the Makefile.

Then, compile and install hoc:

make

make install

Angband 3.0.9

Angband 3.0.9

Angband is a freeware computer dungeon exploration game. more>>
Angband is a freeware computer dungeon exploration game based (loosely) on the books of J.R.R.Tolkien. You explore a very deep dungeon, kill monsters, try to equip yourself with the best weapons and armor you can find, and finally face Morgoth - "The Dark Enemy".
Angband has a very long history. It started 1990 as an improved and "Tolkienized" variant of Moria. Moria itself was created in 1985 and was inspired by Rogue (from the late 70s). Countless changes were introduced by many programmers on the way to the current versions of Angband.
Ben Harrison, the previous maintainer, cleaned up the source code and made it easy to enhance and port to the different computer systems. The clean, well commented and modular source is one of the reasons for its popularity and for the number of variants and other extensions available.
Its addictive, very addictive. Your REAL life will be influenced by playing! Dont say I didnt warn you!
Angband was originally text-based, but graphical versions are now available for almost every computer system. Some Angband players still use the old ASCII-based graphics. There are even a few sound effects available for multimedia freaks.
The original name "Angband" was created by J.R.R. Tolkien in the stories about "Middle Earth".
Angband was a mighty fortified citadel originally constructed by Morgoth (Melkor) in the earliest days of the world as an outlying fortress to his northern stronghold of Utumno. Utumno was destroyed by the Valar, and Morgoth imprisoned in Valinor for three ages, but on his return to Middle-earth, he took Angband as the seat of his power, and raised the towers of Thangorodrim above its gates.
Angband was besieged by the Noldor during the early part of the First Age, but the Siege of Angband was broken at the Dagor Bragollach. It was finally destroyed by the forces of the Valar at the end of the First Age, in the War of the Wrath.
Enhancements:
- This is a bugfix release that fixes over fifty bugs present in the previous release, none of which individually are particularly annoying, but collectively merit a new release.

XINS 2.0 / 2.1 Alpha 2

XINS is a technology used to define, create, and invoke remote APIs. more>>
XINS is a technology used to define, create, and invoke remote APIs. XINS is specification-oriented.
When API specifications are written (in XML), XINS will transform them to HTML-based documentation and Java code for both the client-side and the server-side.
The communication is based on HTTP. XINS competes with the complex SOAP technology. Main design goals include simplicity, scalability, and testability.
XINS is not only a specification technology, but also an application development framework. It offers transaction logging, unique log documentation, and active code generation.
Whats New in 2.0 Stable Release:
- This release adds support for JSON calling conventions, shared error codes, and import of WSDL and XML Schema.
- Integration with the Spring framework and GWT has been improved.
- New examples with Groovy, REST, and the Dojo toolkit have been added.
- Many other small features and improvements have been done.
Whats New in 2.1 Alpha 2 Release:

- Added possibility to pass the ClassLoader mode to the HTTPServletStarter.
- Added new Ant task similar to the < xslt / > task with the option to never overwrite the destination files.
- Added possibility to handle several request at the same time in the internal Servlet container (multi-threaded).
XINS/Java Server Framework:
- Fixed the way the xins.properties was loaded when no org.xins.server.config is set was incorrect.
- Implement RFE #1624142: ACLs for calling conventions. /! The allow methods have a new argument (that can be null).
- Added getName and setName methods in the calling convention classes.
Generation of the opendoc:

JChart2D 2.1.2

JChart2D 2.1.2

JChart2D is an minimalistic charting library. more>>
JChart2D is an minimalistic charting library. It is designed for displaying multiple traces consisting of tracepoints. JChart2D is centered around a single configureable swing widget: the Chart2D. It is a JComponent one can add to a java swing user interface.

Therefore basic knowledge of java awt and swing and the information provided on this site is helpful. If no basic knowledge of swing and awt is given, the example code will give a quick entry as well.

Why yet another charting library?

Many open source charting libraries are available. One list may be found at http://www.par.univie.ac.at/project/askalon/visualization/links.html (Askalon itself provides a big charting library).

These solutions differ in purpose and ease of use. Some are especially intended for business charting and therefore allow a lot of visual configuration and nice designs. To state it in one sentence: JChart2D is intended for engineering tasks and not for presentations. Its speciality is run time - dynamic precise display of data with a minimal configuration overhead.
Intended audience

Everybody may use JChart2D for free. Personally I would be very unhappy if it would be used within a "homeland security" and "war on terrorism" company. Even if it would be a techical honour to JChart2D as warfare requires high precision and engineering qualities.

JTrac 2.0 / 2.1.0 Beta

JTrac 2.0 / 2.1.0 Beta

JTrac project is a generic issue-tracking web-application that can be easily customized by adding custom fields and drop-downs. more>>
JTrac project is a generic issue-tracking web-application that can be easily customized by adding custom fields and drop-downs.
Features include customizable workflow, field level permissions, e-mail integration, file attachments and a detailed history view.
Easy to Install
JTrac uses Hibernate and so it can support any database. Any servlet version 2.4 compliant container such as Apache Tomcat 5.5.X is sufficient to run JTrac. JTrac requires Java 5.0 but has minimal installation requirements otherwise.
One of the useful features of JTrac is that it is distributed as a WAR file and you can be up and running by just deploying the WAR file. The JTrac web-application checks the environment on startup and if a configured database is not detected, HSQLDB is used by default. This means that you can easily evaluate JTrac - just drop the WAR file into your servlet engine and you can immediately sign on into the application.
2.1.2. Custom Fields
JTrac can be used to effectively track various kinds of things such as Bugs, Action Items and Tasks. You can easily add the following types of custom fields to a tracker project:
- Drop Down List
- Free Text Field
- Date Picker
- (Decimal) Number
Whats New in 2.0 Stable Release:
- Support for multiple languages was added.
- Translations were added for (German, French, Italian, Polish, and Dutch).
- Lots of new features and improvements were added.

GearHead: Arena 1.100

GearHead: Arena 1.100

GearHead is a mecha roguelike roleplaying game. more>>
GearHead is a mecha roguelike roleplaying game.
Set a century and a half after nuclear war, you can explore a world where various factions compete to determine the future of the human race.
Major features include random plot generation, a detailed character system, and over two hundred customizable mecha designs.
There are two things which really separate GearHead from most
other ASCII-based RPGs. First, movement is somewhat more complex.
Second, you get to pilot giant robots.
Movement in GearHead is a bit more complex than it is in most other roguelikes, but once you get used to it I hope youll enjoy it. Your character has direction, speed, and altitude. These three values are shown in the navigational display, on the left hand side of the character info window.
The display should look something like this:

CQL::Parser 1.0

CQL::Parser 1.0

CQL::Parser is a Perl module that compiles CQL strings into parse trees of Node subtypes. more>>
CQL::Parser is a Perl module that compiles CQL strings into parse trees of Node subtypes.

SYNOPSIS

use CQL::Parser;
my $parser = CQL::Parser->new();
my $root = $parser->parse( $cql );

CQL::Parser provides a mechanism to parse Common Query Language (CQL) statements. The best description of CQL comes from the CQL homepage at the Library of Congress http://www.loc.gov/z3950/agency/zing/cql/

CQL is a formal language for representing queries to information retrieval systems such as web indexes, bibliographic catalogs and museum collection information. The CQL design objective is that queries be human readable and human writable, and that the language be intuitive while maintaining the expressiveness of more complex languages.

A CQL statement can be as simple as a single keyword, or as complicated as a set of compoenents indicating search indexes, relations, relational modifiers, proximity clauses and boolean logic. CQL::Parser will parse CQL statements and return the root node for a tree of nodes which describes the CQL statement. This data structure can then be used by a client application to analyze the statement, and possibly turn it into a query for a local repository.

Each CQL component in the tree inherits from CQL::Node and can be one of the following: CQL::AndNode, CQL::NotNode, CQL::OrNode, CQL::ProxNode, CQL::TermNode, CQL::PrefixNode. See the documentation for those modules for their respective APIs.

Here are some examples of CQL statements:

george
dc.creator=george
dc.creator="George Clinton"
clinton and funk
clinton and parliament and funk
(clinton or bootsy) and funk
dc.creator="clinton" and dc.date="1976"
