Connect-k 2.0

Connect-k 2.0

Connect-k is a framework for experimenting with and testing general AIs for games within the connect-k family. more>>
Connect-k project is a framework for experimenting with and testing general AIs for games within the connect-k family.

Connect-k family of games contains games defined by three parameters: k, p, and q. The game is played on a Go-style (but not necessarily size) board. There are two players, black and white, who take turn placing stones on the board. The first player (black) plays q stones on the first turn and each player then plays p stones on every succeeding turn. The first player to form a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal sequence of k stones wins.

The game family includes Tic-Tac-Toe, Go-moku without capture rules, and a new game, Connect-6. Connect-6 was formally introduced and analyzed by Dr. I-Chen Wu in a series of papers that attempted to show that the game is fair. This has not been decisively proven but appears to be the case.

The Connect-k program originated as a University of Minnesota undergraduate Artificial Intelligence course project for the Spring 2007 semester. Aside from me, the project group included Jeff Deitch, Gabe Emerson, and Erik Shimshock. We attempted to develop general game playing algorithms capable of playing any game within the Connect-k family. The Connect-k program we produced is currently the only open source program to play Connect-6.

Show the Image is a Firefox extension that shows the largest image in the page. more>>
Show the Image is a Firefox extension that shows the largest image in the page.

A very simple extension that can be used to show the largest image on the page - what you want to look at - without all the banners and layout around it.

After installing the extension you can add a new button to the toolbar by right-clicking on the toolbar, clicking customize and dragging the icon into place.

Left-clicking the button (or pressing Control+Q) will take you to the largest image in the current page, left-clicking (or pressing Control+Q) again will take you back again.

Middle-clicking the button (or pressing Control+Shift+Q) will open the largest image in the current page in a new tab, middle-clicking (or pressing Control+Shift+Q) while looking at the image on its own will close the tab if more than one is open.

Right clicking the button will go through all the tabs to the right of the current one, displaying the largest image in each.

Right clicking on a link will give the option to "Show Image following this link" which will open the largest image found at that link in a new tab.

gewee game 3.6

gewee game 3.6

gewee game is a Go-like board game with next generation graphics. more>>
gewee game is a Go-like board game with "next generation" graphics.

This is a game between a human ("player") and a computer ("opponent"). The players objective is to accumulate as many points as possible. When the player wins a game, a point is added to his/her score. When the player loses a game, a point is subtracted from his/her score. The competitor with the most pieces on the board at the end of the game is the winner. A game is finished when a competitor forfeits, or has no valid empty square to place a piece on. The opponent is granted additional moves at the start of a game based on the players score.

Each competitor has a distinct set of pieces of the same shape and color. The competitors take turns placing one piece on an empty square on the board. A piece or group of pieces that has no empty square adjacent to it is removed from the board.

LibTMCG 1.1.1

LibTMCG 1.1.1

LibTMCG is a general purpose C++ library for creating secure electronic card games. more>>
LibTMCG is a general purpose C++ library for creating secure electronic card games. The most remarkable feature is the absence of a trusted third party (TTP), i.e. neither a central game server nor trusted hardware components are necessary.
To emphasize this point again: With the present library there is no need for an independent referee, because the applied protocols provide a basic level of confidentiality and fairness by itself. Consequently, the library is well-suited for peer-to-peer (P2P) environments where no TTP is available.
Of course, we cannot avoid that malicious players share information about their private cards, but the protocols ensure that the shuffle of the deck is performed randomly (presumed that at least one player is honest) and thus the cards will be distributed uniformly among the players.
Further, no coalition can learn the private cards of a player against his will (except for trivial conclusions). The corresponding cryptographic problem, actually called Mental Poker, has been studied since 1979 (Shamir, Rivest, and Adleman) by many authors (see the first section of [St05] for a short survey). LibTMCG provides the first practical implementation of such protocols.
The implementation relies on advanced cryptographic techniques---the so-called zero-knowledge proofs. Using these building blocks the high-level protocols minimize the effect of coalitions and preserve the confidentiality of the players strategy, i.e. the players are not required to reveal their cards at the end of the game to show that they did not cheat.
Enhancements:
- A major security bug was fixed.
- This bug allows an adversary to choose trivial group generators.
- This flaw has a crucial impact on the confidentiality of private cards.
- Thus, all users are strongly recommended to update LibTMCG as soon as possible.

Show Screen Captures is an extension which enables displaying screen captures of external links on a web page. more>>
Show Screen Captures is an extension which enables displaying screen captures of external links on a web page.

Displays screen captures of external links on a web page. Screen shots provided by openthumbshots.org.

A screenshot, screen capture, or screen dump is an image taken by the computer to record the visible items on the monitor or another visual output device. Usually this is a digital image taken by the host operating system or software running on the computer device, but it can also be a capture made by a camera or a device intercepting the video output of the computer.

Screenshots, screen dumps, or screen captures can be used to demonstrate a program, a particular problem a user might be having or generally when computer output needs to be shown to others or archived.

Game::Life 0.04

Game::Life - Plays Conways Game of Life.

SYNOPSIS

use Game::Life;
my $game = new Game::Life( 20 );
my $starting = [
[ 1, 1, 1 ],
[ 1, 0, 0 ],
[ 0, 1, 0 ]
];

$game->place_points( 10, 10, $starting );
for (1..20) {
my $grid = $game->get_grid();
foreach ( @$grid ) {
print map { $_ ? X : . } @$_;
print "n";
}
print "nn";
$game->process();
}

Conways Game of Life is a basic example of finding living patterns in rather basic rulesets (see NOTES). The Game of Life takes place on a 2-D rectangular grid, with each grid point being either alive or dead. If a living grid point has 2 or 3 neighbors within the surrounding 8 points, the point will remain alive in the next generation; any fewer or more will kill it. A dead grid point will become alive if there are exactly 3 living neighbors to it. With these simple rules, fascinating structures such as gliders that move across the grid, glider guns that generate these gliders, XOR gates, and others have been found.

This module simply provides a way to simulate the Game of Life in Perl.

In terms of coordinate systems as used in place_points, toggle_point and other functions, the first coodinate is the vertical direction, 0 being the top of the board, and the second is the horizontal direaction, 0 being the left side of the board. Thus, toggling the point of (3,2) will switch the state of the point in the 4th row and 3rd column.

The edges of the board are currently set as "flat"; cells on the edge do not have any neighbors, and thus will fall off the board. Future versions may allow for warp edges (if a cell moves off the left side it reappears on the right side).
