upgrade.php is a PHP script that can help you to use all features from newer PHP versions (up to 5.2 currently) without losing compatibility to older interpreters and outdated webserver setups. It takes care of emulating any functions (with their original names) that are missing at runtime.
You simply include() it into your applications and are from then on freed from thinking about backwards compliance and wasting time with workarounds instead of simply using the more powerful PHP functions.

Enhancements:
- This release includes PDO emulation for PHP 4.x.
- This new unified PHP5 standard database interface prevents SQL injection exploits if you use its prepared statements instead of error-prone string concatenation and manual escaping.
- Other changes include more detailed phpDoc-style comments in the main script, and file_put_contents() support for the file locking flag.
- The emulated json_decode() function now supports Unicode escapes and still remains five times faster than JSON.php or the Zend_Framework decoder.

Drossellog is a simple logfile analyzer in ruby. The application was created because we were unhappy with the interfaces and functionality of other, already existing opensource logfile analyzers.

We didnt want to extend the existing ones because we didnt liked their architecture either.

libstatgrab is a library that provides cross platform access to statistics about the system on which its run. libstatgrab library written in C and presents a selection of useful interfaces which can be used to access key system statistics. The current list of statistics includes CPU usage, memory utilisation, disk usage, process counts, network traffic, disk I/O, and more.
The current list of platforms is Solaris 2.x, Linux 2.2/2.4/2.6, FreeBSD 4.x/5.x, NetBSD 1.6.x, OpenBSD 3.x, DragonFly BSD 1.0, HP-UX, and Cygwin. The aim is to extend this to include as many operating systems as possible.
The package also includes a couple of useful tools. The first, saidar, provides a curses-based interface to viewing the current state of the system. The second, statgrab, gives a sysctl-style interface to the statistics gathered by libstatgrab. This extends the use of libstatgrab to people writing scripts or anything else that cant easily make C function calls. Included with statgrab is a script to generate an MRTG configuration file to use statgrab.
Enhancements:

NumExp is a family of open-source applications for numeric computation. When it was created, the idea was to make a powerfull tool like Mathematica.

Now, we know this is almost impossible without more open-source hackers. Meanwhile, we are trying to make, at least, an usefull tool!

NumExp is based on a server with the NumExp core functionalities. This server comunicates with potencial clients using a simple Corba interface
