Schedule::Oncall 0.8.3

Schedule::Oncall 0.8.3

Schedule::Oncall module contains methods for managing an on-call schedule. more>>
Schedule::Oncall module contains methods for managing an on-call schedule.

Schedule::Oncall provides methods to manipulate an on-call schedule. One or more tables of schedules can be maintained, loaded, and searched. An on-call table is composed of seven days, where each day has a list of minute ranges which correspond to a particular person.

Information such as email address, pager number, etc. may be stored in the schedule configuration file. Simple variable assignments may also be made. Other textual information may be stored in the schedule in order to assist other applications (e.g., html headers or email body text), and variables substitution may occur within the text blocks.

Schedule files may be chosen based on weekly or monthly rotations, relative to the first week or month of the year. Weekly schedules begin on a Monday and end on a Sunday, the same as strftime(3)s %W" format. Each rotation is stored in a separate file, and the appropriate rotation is chosen at load time.

Alpha Shooter 0.0.3

Alpha Shooter 0.0.3

Alpha Shooter is a 3D OpenGL first-person shooter game with a sci-fi setting. more>>
Alpha Shooter is a 3D OpenGL first-person shooter game with a sci-fi setting.
Alpha Shooter was born as a project for the Computer Graphics course at the University of Bologna.
The main objective was to develop a very simple 3D game using the OpenGL, GLU and GLUT libraries only (and some creativity). Emphasis was not placed on the game itself, rather on learning how to use the libraries to produce a 3D environment and interact with it; it was thus required to build a suitable scenery using polygonal meshes and quadric surfaces, appropriate textures and materials, lights, and effects.
According to my personal taste I chose a sci-fi setting, trying to reproduce an environment that could remind players of a warehouse or loading area located inside a space ship or space station, like those often seen in movies or commercial videogames (of course I was aware of the limits of my implementation). I focused development on a single room, with an outside view, for ease of development (it was my very first attempt at graphics programming) and because it was enough to make use of a wide set of elements of OpenGL, consistently with the project requirements.
The game I wrote was inspired to the First Person Shooter genre, in which the player can move around in a 3D environment, looking around freely through the eyes of the played character, interacting (in very limited ways) with some of the objects present, shooting crates and barrels and some holographic targets.
I had a lot of fun creating that simple game, so after I got my Masters Degree I decided it would be a waste to just leave it hidden in some obscure directory at home; it is now here, released as Free Software, so that I can keep working on it and improving it, with help from whoever will be interested, in the hope that it will be useful as an example on how to get started in computer graphics and games development.
Enhancements:
- Binary packages were created for all supported operating systems, including a Windows installer, an i386 Debian Linux package, and a PowerPC Mac OS X DMG disk image.
- Additionally, the improved persistent mouse movement mode uses a dynamic mouse cursor that shows direction and speed of rotation, making that movement mode more intuitive and useful.
- Several minor bugs have also been fixed.

ENet 1.1

ENet 1.1

ENet is an easy to use, portable UDP networking library. more>>
ENets purpose is to provide a relatively thin, simple and robust network communication layer on top of UDP (User Datagram Protocol). ENets primary feature it provides is optional reliable, in-order delivery of packets.
ENet is NOT intended to be a general purpose high level networking library that handles authentication, lobbying, server discovery, compression, encryption and other high level, often application level or dependent tasks.
Main features:
ENet evolved specifically as a UDP networking layer for the multiplayer first person shooter Cube.
Cube necessitated low latency communcation with data sent out very frequently, so TCP was an unsuitable choice due to its high latency and stream orientation.
UDP, however, lacks many sometimes necessary features from TCP such as reliability, sequencing, unrestricted packet sizes, and connection management. So UDP by itself was not suitable as a network protocol either.
No suitable freely available networking libraries existed at the time of ENets creation to fill this niche.
UDP and TCP could have been used together in Cube to benefit somewhat from both of their features, however, the resulting combinations of protocols still leaves much to be desired.
TCP lacks multiple streams of communication without resorting to opening many sockets and complicates delineation of packets due to its buffering behavior.
UDP lacks sequencing, connection management, management of bandwidth resources, and imposes limitations on the size of packets.
A significant investment is required to integrate these two protocols, and the end result is worse off in features and performance than the uniform protocol presented by ENet.
ENet thus attempts to address these issues and provide a single, uniform protocol layered over UDP to the developer with the best features of UDP and TCP as well as some useful features neither provide, with a much cleaner integration than any resulting from a mixture of UDP and TCP.
Enhancements:
- Lower bandwidth usage, stability/crash fixes, more flexible packet allocation, optional CRC32 checksums, and various API tweaks.

Slackintosh 12.0

Slackintosh 12.0

Slackintosh is a port of Slackware GNU/Linux to PPC (Macintosh). more>>
Slackintosh is a port of Slackware GNU/Linux to PPC (Macintosh).

Russell Kroll was the first person who ported Slackware to PPC (http://slackintosh.exploits.org), but the project stalled with an unfinished 9.1 ..

I (Adrian) started again from scratch porting 10.1 to PPC, and ive stolen the name Slackintosh...

Please note that this port was not done by Russell, dont send him Bugreports.

I used the the Sources + SlackBuild files from Slackware 10.1. ..but i had to make a few changes:

The new Binutils from 10.x didnt like GCC, i used the 9.1 Version to build everything. The Installer uses BusyBox 1.0 and Linux 2.4 is not included, only 2.6.11.5 (Runs better on PPC .. imho)

Its not finished: Not all packages are ported. Youll get gcc, X, Mozilla, XFCE, Gimp.. but no
monsters like KDE & Co.

The installer maybe somewhat funky.. Missing packages are still listed and the yaboot installation isnt tested very well...

..but you should be able to get it running. It won the WFM (WorksForMe) price. (Tested on a MiniMac & iBook2)

Vamos Automotive Simulator 0.5.7

Vamos Automotive Simulator 0.5.7

Vamos is an automotive simulation framework with an emphasis on thorough physical modeling and good C++ design. more>>
Vamos Automotive Simulator project, as the name suggest is an automotive simulation framework with an emphasis on thorough physical modeling and good C++ design. Vamos includes a real-time, first-person, 3D driving application.

Vamos is young and its goals are only partially met. I invite anyone whos interested to contribute.

Thorough physical modeling

Vamos models most major systems of a car. The drivetrain includes a simulation of the engine, clutch, transmission and a limited-slip differential. Tires and suspension are also modeled. If I missed something, let me know.

Good C++ Design

The geometry, track, car and world modules are in their own namespaces. Care has been taken to avoid cyclic dependencies. Standard Library components like strings, vectors and maps are favored over arrays. Some of the modules and classes have aged more gracefully than others. If you see a design area that needs improvement, feel free to pitch in.

Excalibur: Morganas Revenge 3.0

Excalibur: Morganas Revenge 3.0

Excalibur: Morganas Revenge is a first-person action adventure game using the Aleph One (Marathon) engine. more>>
Excalibur: Morganas Revenge (EMR) is a unique scenario based upon the Aleph One (Marathon) engine. It is a first-person action adventure game, featuring an epic and in-depth story line. As a Federation Marine resting after your last mission, you start aboard the exploration class Starship Kronos where you learn that your real mission has yet to begin. You are re-acquainted with the AI Merlin, who introduces you to Kronos time traveling technology, and reveals your new mission: to save mankind from the clutches of Morgana and her minions. Through untamed raptor-infested jungles, castle arenas, and war-torn streets of the future, you will wield weapons from all time periods - including the Sword of Power, Excalibur - in an effort to thwart the diabolical plot that unfolds. The EMR adventure, spread across 42 solo levels, weaves a tale of truth and honor, knighthood and bravery, and darkness and treachery. EMR also delivers 27 adrenaline pumped network levels. EMR immerses you in an amazing new world, creating an addictive, fun and unique gaming experience.

For those that played EMR under the old Marathon Infinity engine, EMR 3.0 brings exciting new maps, new high resolution textures and landscapes, a completely new set of weapons, new monsters and friends, new scenery, new 16-bit sounds, original music, and a carefully woven original story line that transcends time. Using the Aleph One engine, EMR now sports loads of new special features using Aleph Ones MML and Lua scripting languages. Please note that the AlephOne engine is old technology improved. Architecture is still simulated 3D, so there are no ramps, bridges, and balconies, nor horizontal doors. The sprites in EMR are made up of 2D images posed in different views, not 3D models. Do not expect the latest state-of-the-art graphics engine, but you can expect an intriguing storyline, creative map architectures, engaging graphics, original spellbinding music, and mood-setting sound effects.

Adventure Money 1.0

Adventure Money 1.0

Adventure Money project quickly calculate money shared each month between multiple people for multiple bills. more>>
Since I am the person who manages the money for our house, I need an efficient way to keep track of our expenses and an easy way to calculate who owes what to whom at the end of the month. There are lots of good free software utilities for managing money like GnuCash, KMyMoney and the wonderful Gnumeric spreadsheet. I had been using Gnumeric to manage the money for the last 8 months, but now that we have some people staying at the house for just the summer, and other leaving and coming back in September, the spreadsheet was not able to adjust to these irregular circumstances.

The reason I decided to write my own application from scratch instead of using an already existing money management application was because my problem is multi-person orientation and most (if not all) of the money management programs I have tried are single-person oriented. For example GnuCash will let you setup accounts that show you all the money moving to and from a single person. But in my house things like food are paid by any person and shared by every other person. Thus to efficiently and easily calculate who owes how much, it must take into account the fact that one pizza may be paid for by one person, but it was eaten by 4 people. Also I dont want to have to divide up the amounts myself and put it into GnuCash with multiple accounts, because then I might as well be doing it on paper.

I could have spent my time learning to make an already existing application do exactly what I want; and I probably would have found something pretty close. But I decided that it would be faster to just program it from scratch and then I would be sure I would get exactly what I wanted. I think I was right; it took less then 2 weeks to finished writing this program.

The program is currently called Adventure Money, but if anyone can think of a better name for it let me know and Ill gladly change it.

When you first launch the program you will see it has five views, all of which can be seen in the screenshots below.

Global Assassin is a text-based action game.

The Global Assassin game is a multiplayer, shoot-em-up game set in the first person, and yet its text-based.

The year is 2035, and robots have taken over the Earth. Most humans died during the invasion or were forced to flee the planet. You are part of a small resistance that has managed to survive underground and is now prepared to strike back.

As a trained assassin, your objective is to return to the Earths surface, stealthily move through the worlds major cities, and systematically rid the planet of its invaders.

The details of the game are as follows.

The battlefield consists of 20 cities around the globe.

These cities have been connected for your mission by an ellaborate portal system.

Use the portals to move between cities as you search for and destroy the robots.

You are armed with a gun, bullets, and grenades.

To successfully strike an invader, you and your target must occupy the same city at the precise moment you attack.

You can lay a mine in a given city, and the very next player to enter that city trips the mine.
