ntfs-3g driver is an open source, GPL licensed, third generation Linux NTFS driver for 32-bit, little-endian architectures which was implemented by the Linux-NTFS project. It provides full read-write access to NTFS, excluding access to encrypted files, writing compressed files, changing file ownership, access right.

Technically its based on and a major improvement to the third generation Linux NTFS driver, ntfsmount. The improvements includes functionality, quality and performance enhancements.

The driver currently is in BETA status: before release of this software we havent experienced any driver crashes or data loss during our heavy quality testing, however we are aware of some minor issues which will be resolved in the near future. We listed all of them in a below section.

Installation:

Make sure you have the basic Linux development tools and FUSE (http://fuse.sourceforge.net) is correctly installed on your computer then type:

./configure
make
make install # or sudo make install if you arent root.

Usage:

If there was no error during installation then you can mount NTFS volumes for read-write access (unmount them if they were already mounted by another NTFS driver.)

ntfs-3g /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows

If you want to give full access for all users, ignore permission related driver messages, and make national characters visible then use (drop or replace the below hu_HU.utf8 with the appropriate setting, and also the device and mount points, if needed).

ntfs-3g /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows -o silent,umask=0,locale=hu_HU.utf8

You can also make NTFS to be mounted during boot by ensuring that the FUSE kernel module is automatically loaded and by putting the below line into /etc/fstab

/dev/hda1 /mnt/windows ntfs-3g silent,umask=0,locale=hu_HU.utf8 0 0

MyBook World Edition Packages project collection provides pre-compiled packages for hacking Western Digital MyBook World Edition, to improve performance and add new features.

netstiff (formerly known as webdiff) is a powerful Web page update checker. The project supports a variety of different methods (diff, html, size, date, regexp, MD5 sum) and only prints the URIs of the Web pages that changed so that its output can easily be used by other scripts (such as wget or mail).
Enhancements:
- As a release focus, (beta) FTP support has been added with test methods "diff", "size", and "date".
- Furthermore, stderr is used for errors and warnings in addition to the log file.
- To suppress this behaviour, the -S option has been introduced.
- The configurator experienced some changes, too, e.g. URIs can be titled now.

Pioneer Linux is a desktop-oriented, Kubuntu-based distribution targeted at new as well as experienced Linux users. The product comes in two flavours: as a freely downloadable live and installation CD, and as a commercial boxed edition with CrossOver Office and technical support.

Enhancements:
- Technalign, Inc. has released Pioneer Basic 2.1 of its base Linux operating system. Pioneer Basic 2.1 is being released on DVD. Technalign will continue to ship Pioneer Basic 2.0 for those users who do not wish to purchase a DVD drive for their systems. Pioneer Basic 2.1 is similar to Basic 2.0 with several exceptions. The biggest exception is that Pioneer 2.1 is based on Feisty and not Edgy while it continues to be based on Kubuntu. Adept is no longer incorporated as the update manager, but is now replaced with Synaptic per the business and consumer communities. Also notable are the Guarddog Firewall as well as the KlamAV anti-virus utilities that have been added and OpenOffice.org 2.2.
