libAfterImage 1.15

libAfterImage is a small, fast, and powerful library for high-quality image manipulation. more>>
libAfterImage is a small, fast, and powerful library for high-quality image manipulation.
libAfterImage is a generic image manipulation library. It was initially implemented to address AfterStep Window Managers needs for image handling, but it evolved into extremely powerfull and flexible software, suitable for virtually any project that has needs for loading, manipulating, displaying images, as well as writing images in files.
Most of the popular image formats are supported using standard libraries, with XCF, XPM, PPM/PNM, BMP, ICO, TGA and GIF being supported internally.
PNG, JPEG and TIFF formats are supported via standard libraries.
For convinience, source for libJPEG and libPNG is supplied with libAfterImage.
Powerfull text rendering capabilities included, providing support for TrueType fonts using FreeType library, and antialiasing of standard fonts from X window system.
Primary design goals of libAfterImage are memory efficiency and superior image quality.
Extensive documentation, examples, and XML image scripting tool ascompose, are included with the library.
libAfterImage allows output of the image on any of the X11 display, MS Windows DIB, or standard output, which is suitable for web servers.
Enhancements:
- New features include image slicing, better support for 32-bit visuals, and proper Gaussian blur with radii up to 128.

Algorithm::DiffOld 1.15

Algorithm::DiffOld 1.15

Algorithm::DiffOld is a Perl module to compute `intelligent differences between two files / lists but use the old interface. more>>
Algorithm::DiffOld is a Perl module to compute `intelligent differences between two files / lists but use the old ( $callback,
DISCARD_A => $callback,
DISCARD_B => $callback,
},
$comparison_function );

COMPARISON FUNCTIONS

Each of the main routines should be passed a comparison function. If you arent passing one in, use Algorithm::Diff instead.

These functions should return a true value when two items should compare as equal.

For instance,

@lcs = LCS( @seq1, @seq2, sub { my ($a, $b) = @_; $a eq $b } );

but if that is all youre doing with your comparison function, just use Algorithm::Diff and let it do this (this is its default).

Or:

sub someFunkyComparisonFunction
{
my ($a, $b) = @_;
$a =~ m{$b};
}

@diffs = diff( @lines, @patterns, &someFunkyComparisonFunction );

which would allow you to diff an array @lines which consists of text lines with an array @patterns which consists of regular expressions.

This is actually the reason I wrote this version -- there is no way to do this with a key generation function as in the stock Algorithm::Diff.

Math::BaseArith 1.00

Math::BaseArith 1.00

Math::BaseArith is a Perl extension for mixed-base number representation (like APL encode/decode). more>>
Math::BaseArith is a Perl extension for mixed-base number representation (like APL encode/decode).

SYNOPSIS

use Math::BaseArith;
encode( value, base_list );
decode( representation_list, base_list );

The inspiration for this module is a pair of functions in the APL programming language called encode (a.k.a. "representation") and decode (a.k.a. base-value). Their principal use is to convert numbers from one number base to another. Mixed number bases are permitted.

In this perl implementation, the representation of a number in a particular number base consists of a list whose elements are the digit values in that base. For example, the decimal number 31 would be expressed in binary as a list of five ones with any number of leading zeros: [0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1]. The same number expressed as three hexadecimal (base 16) digits would be [0, 1, 15], while in base 10 it would be [0, 3, 1]. Fifty-one inches would be expressed in yards, feet, inches as [1, 1, 3], an example of a mixed number base.

In the following description of encode and decode, Q will mean an abstract value or quantity, R will be its representation and B will define the number base. Q will be a perl scalar; R and B are perl lists. The values in R correspond to the radix values in B.

In the examples below, assume the output of print has been altered by setting $, = and that => is your shell prompt.

Honeyd 1.5c

Honeyd 1.5c

Honeyd is a small daemon that creates virtual hosts on a network. more>>
The hosts can be configured to run arbitrary services, and their personality can be adapted so that they appear to be running certain operating systems. Honeyd enables a single host to claim multiple addresses - I have tested up to 65536 - on a LAN for network simulation.

Honeyd improves cyber security by providing mechanisms for threat detection and assessment. It also deters adversaries by hiding real systems in the middle of virtual systems.
It is possible to ping the virtual machines, or to traceroute them. Any type of service on the virtual machine can be simulated according to a simple configuration file. Instead of simulating a service, it is also possible to proxy it to another machine.

annotate "AIX 4.0 - 4.2" fragment old
# Example of a simple host template and its binding create template
set template personality "AIX 4.0 - 4.2"
add template tcp port 80 "sh scripts/web.sh"
add template tcp port 22 "sh scripts/test.sh $ipsrc $dport"
add template tcp port 23 proxy 10.23.1.2:23
set template default tcp action reset

bind 10.21.19.102 template

The different TCP personalities are learned from reading a nmap fingerprint file. The configured personality is the operating system that nmap or xprobe will return. Personalities can be annotated to determine if they allow FIN-scans for open ports or to select the preference in which they reassemble fragmented IP packets.

Honeyd can be used to create a virtual honey net or for general network monitoring. It supports the creation of a virtual network topology including dedicated routes and routers. The routes can be attributed with latency and packet loss to make the topology seem more realistic.
Because Honeyd interacts with potentially malicious adversaries, you should sandbox it with Systrace. Systrace prevents an adversary from exploiting bugs in your Honeyd scripts.

Subsystem Virtualization

Honeyd supports service virtualization by executing Unix applications as subsystems running in the virtual IP address space of a configured honeypot. This allows any network application to dynamically bind ports, create TCP and UDP connections using a virtual IP address.
Subsystems are virtualized by intercepting their network requests and redirecting them to Honeyd. Every configuration template may contain subsystems that are started as separated processes when the template is bound to a virtual IP address. An additional benefit of this approach is the ability of honeypots to create sporadic background traffic like requesting web pages and reading email, etc.

Network Simulation/Internet-In-The-Box

Honeyd supports assymetric routes and the integration of physical machines into the virtual network topology. As a result, it is possible to use Honeyd for simple network simulations: Physical hosts can be exposed to high latency or packet loss, arbitrary routing infrastructures, etc.

Using GRE tunneling allows the creation of distributed setups that allow Honeyd to scale to larger networks. It also allows virtual machines to be spread across separate address spaces as GRE tunnel selection can be based on the source addresses.

Tcl/Tk 8.4.15/8.5a6

Tcl/Tk 8.4.15/8.5a6

Tcl/Tk is a portable scripting environment for Unix, Windows, and Macintosh. more>>
Tcl provides a portable scripting environment for Unix, Windows, and Macintosh that supports string processing and pattern matching, native file system access, shell-like control over other programs, TCP/IP networking, timers, and event-driven I/O.
Tcl has traditional programming constructs like variables, loops, procedures, namespaces, error handling, script packages, and dynamic loading of DLLs. Tk provides portable GUIs on UNIX, Windows, and Macintosh.
A powerful widget set and the concise scripting interface to Tk make it a breeze to develop sophisticated user interfaces.
Tcl (Tool Command Language) is easy to learn and you can create a useful program in minutes! You are free to use Tcl/Tk however you wish, even in commercial applications.
Basic Syntax
Tcl scripts are made up of commands separated by newlines or semicolons. Commands all have the same basic form illustrated by the following example:
expr 20 + 10
This command computes the sum of 20 and 10 and returns the result, 30. You can try out this example and all the others in this page by typing them to a Tcl application such as tclsh; after a command completes, tclsh prints its result.
Each Tcl command consists of one or more words separated by spaces. In this example there are four words: expr, 20, +, and 10. The first word is the name of a command and the other words are arguments to that command. All Tcl commands consist of words, but different commands treat their arguments differently. The expr command treats all of its arguments together as an arithmetic expression, computes the result of that expression, and returns the result as a string. In the expr command the division into words isnt significant: you could just as easily have invoked the same command as
expr 20+10
However, for most commands the word structure is important, with each word used for a distinct purpose.
All Tcl commands return results. If a command has no meaningful result then it returns an empty string as its result.
Variables
Tcl allows you to store values in variables and use the values later in commands. The set command is used to write and read variables. For example, the following command modifies the variable x to hold the value 32:
set x 32
The command returns the new value of the variable. You can read the value of a variable by invoking set with only a single argument:
set x
You dont need to declare variables in Tcl: a variable is created automatically the first time it is set. Tcl variables dont have types: any variable can hold any value.
To use the value of a variable in a command, use variable substitution as in the following example:
expr $x*3
When a $ appears in a command, Tcl treats the letters and digits following it as a variable name, and substitutes the value of the variable in place of the name. In this example, the actual argument received by the expr command will be 32*3 (assuming that variable x was set as in the previous example). You can use variable substitution in any word of any command, or even multiple times within a word:
set cmd expr
set x 11
$cmd $x*$x
Command substitution
You can also use the result of one command in an argument to another command. This is called command substitution:
set a 44
set b [expr $a*4]
When a [ appears in a command, Tcl treats everything between it and the matching ] as a nested Tcl command. Tcl evaluates the nested command and substitutes its result into the enclosing command in place of the bracketed text. In the example above the second argument of the second set command will be 176.
Quotes and braces
Double-quotes allow you to specify words that contain spaces. For example, consider the following script:
set x 24
set y 18
set z "$x + $y is [expr $x + $y]"
After these three commands are evaluated variable z will have the value 24 + 18 is 42. Everything between the quotes is passed to the set command as a single word. Note that (a) command and variable substitutions are performed on the text between the quotes, and (b) the quotes themselves are not passed to the command. If the quotes were not present, the set command would have received 6 arguments, which would have caused an error.
Curly braces provide another way of grouping information into words. They are different from quotes in that no substitutions are performed on the text between the curly braces:
set z {$x + $y is [expr $x + $y]}
This command sets variable z to the value "$x + $y is [expr $x + $y]".
Control structures
Tcl provides a complete set of control structures including commands for conditional execution, looping, and procedures. Tcl control structures are just commands that take Tcl scripts as arguments. The example below creates a Tcl procedure called power, which raises a base to an integer power:
proc power {base p} {
set result 1
while {$p > 0} {
set result [expr $result * $base]
set p [expr $p - 1]
}
return $result
}
This script consists of a single command, proc. The proc command takes three arguments: the name of a procedure, a list of argument names, and the body of the procedure, which is a Tcl script. Note that everything between the curly brace at the end of the first line and the curly brace on the last line is passed verbatim to proc as a single argument. The proc command creates a new Tcl command named power that takes two arguments. You can then invoke power with commands like the following:
power 2 6
power 1.15 5
When power is invoked, the procedure body is evaluated. While the body is executing it can access its arguments as variables: base will hold the first argument and p will hold the second.
The body of the power procedure contains three Tcl commands: set, while, and return. The while command does most of the work of the procedure. It takes two arguments, an expression ($p > 0) and a body, which is another Tcl script. The while command evaluates its expression argument using rules similar to those of the C programming language and if the result is true (nonzero) then it evaluates the body as a Tcl script. It repeats this process over and over until eventually the expression evaluates to false (zero). In this case the body of the while command multiplied the result value by base and then decrements p. When p reaches zero the result contains the desired power of base. The return command causes the procedure to exit with the value of variable result as the procedures result.
Main features:
- More control structures, such as if, for, foreach, and switch.
- String manipulation, including a powerful regular expression matching facility. Arbitrary-length strings can be passed around and manipulated just as easily as numbers.
- I/O, including files on disk, network sockets, and devices such as serial ports. Tcl provides particularly simple facilities for socket communication over the Internet.
- File management: Tcl provides several commands for manipulating file names, reading and writing file attributes, copying files, deleting files, creating directories, and so on.
- Subprocess invocation: you can run other applications with the exec command and communicate with them while they run.
- Lists: Tcl makes it easy to create collections of values (lists) and manipulate them in a variety of ways.

Curses 1.15

Curses 1.15

Curses is a terminal screen handling and optimization. more>>
Curses is a terminal screen handling and optimization.

SYNOPSIS

use Curses;

initscr;
...
endwin;

Curses::supports_function($function);
Curses::supports_contsant($constant);

Curses is the interface between Perl and your systems curses(3) library. For descriptions on the usage of a given function, variable, or constant, consult your systems documentation, as such information invariably varies (:-) between different curses(3) libraries and operating systems. This document describes the interface itself, and assumes that you already know how your systems curses(3) library works.
Unified Functions
Many curses(3) functions have variants starting with the prefixes w-, mv-, and/or wmv-. These variants differ only in the explicit addition of a window, or by the addition of two coordinates that are used to move the cursor first. For example, addch() has three other variants: waddch(), mvaddch(), and mvwaddch(). The variants arent very interesting; in fact, we could roll all of the variants into original function by allowing a variable number of arguments and analyzing the argument list for which variant the user wanted to call.
Unfortunately, curses(3) predates varargs(3), so in C we were stuck with all the variants. However, Curses is a Perl interface, so we are free to "unify" these variants into one function. The section "Supported Functions" below lists all curses(3) function supported by Curses, along with a column listing if it is unified. If so, it takes a varying number of arguments as follows:
function( [win], [y, x], args );
win is an optional window argument, defaulting to stdscr if not specified.
y, x is an optional coordinate pair used to move the cursor, defaulting to no move if not specified.
args are the required arguments of the function. These are the arguments you would specify if you were just calling the base function and not any of the variants.
This makes the variants obsolete, since their functionality has been merged into a single function, so Curses does not define them by default. You can still get them if you want, by setting the variable $Curses::OldCurses to a non-zero value before using the Curses package. See "Perl 4.X cursperl Compatibility" for an example of this.

Objects

Objects are supported. Example:
$win = new Curses;
$win->addstr(10, 10, foo);
$win->refresh;
...

Any function that has been marked as unified (see "Supported Functions" below and "Unified Functions" above) can be called as a method for a Curses object.
Do not use initscr() if using objects, as the first call to get a new Curses will do it for you.

Security Concerns

It has always been the case with the curses functions, but please note that the following functions:

getstr() (and optional wgetstr(), mvgetstr(), and mvwgetstr())
inchstr() (and optional winchstr(), mvinchstr(), and mvwinchstr())
instr() (and optional winstr(), mvinstr(), and mvwinstr())

are subject to buffer overflow attack. This is because you pass in the buffer to be filled in, which has to be of finite length, but there is no way to stop a bad guy from typing.

In order to avoid this problem, use the alternate functions:

getnstr()
inchnstr()
innstr()

which take an extra "size of buffer" argument.
