Important Notes Before You Begin

There are 2 things you will need in order to use Neverwinter Nights Linux Client, aside from downloading the Linux Client binaries:

1. Game Resources: You will need to get the Neverwinter Nights game resouces from one of these locations:

from an existing Windows installation of the 1.29 build of Neverwinter Nights (instructions below)

from an installation of the Neverwinter Nights Gold Edition (instructions below)

from a mirror site hosting the Neverwinter Nights v1.29 Linux Client resources (instructions below)

2. CD-Key: You will have to purchase a copy of the game to get a valid Neverwinter Nights CD-Key. Of course, with this purchase you also get a lovely Neverwinter Nights mapkin, a spiral-bound game manual, and three plastic-coated aluminum-reinforced W1nd0z3 brand coasters.

Neverwinter Nights…endless adventure!

1. Download the appropriate update file and put it in your Linux Neverwinter Nights directory (the directory containing nwserver).

2. Remove the BioWare-supplied contents of your override directory. If you have not placed any files in this directory yourself, you can do

rm -f override/*

You may wish to backup your override directory if you plan to revert to an earlier version at some point.

3. If present, remove patch.key, data/patch.bif, xp1patch.key, and data/xp1patch.bif

rm patch.key
rm data/patch.bif
rm xp1patch.key
rm data/xp1patch.bif

4. Unpack the file using the command

tar -xzf linuxserverupdate1xxto166.tar.gz

5. Download the dialog.tlk file(s) appropriate for your language from the Known Issues page, and place in it your Linux Neverwinter Nights directory (alternatively, copy them from an updated Win32 Neverwinter Nights installation).

Libtext is a C library for creating, reading, and performing operations on growable text / string buffer objects with optional error callbacks. Libtext performs actions such as append, delete, find, get, insert, prepend, replace, and reverse.

Libtext can also append, insert, overwrite, and prepend printf style formats. Further options include rejecting binary characters, setting a maximum size, and setting a mask that controls for which errors the callback will be executed.

All of which can be set for each individual object. Libtext is general purpose enough that it can be used to build more complex routines, while still being simple enough to use as is in rudimentary applications with little effort, learning the API within minutes.
