Network Ustadi 0.3.1
Network Ustadi is a Web interface for managing network services. more>>
Network Ustadi is a Web interface for managing network services. It provides firewall management, routing table management, NAT configuration, DHCP server configuration, interface configuration, etc.
To ease the task of network administration, decrease the likelihood of erronous command execution and to maintain all network services from a central point, EnderUNIX SDT anounces the availability of its 9th open-source tool, netUstad.
The tool, designed and coded by one of our developers Ozkan KIRIK, has the capability to generate FreeBSD IPFW and Linux Iptables rulesets. It has been written in C language and includes its own HTTP server.
The newly anounced version provides a web interface for system administrators to add/delete/update IPFW and Iptables rulesets, manage routing table and network interfaces. You can manage your firewall via a TCP/IP connected remote PC, easily.
Enhancements:
- Problems that causes the process to terminate, solved.
- Virtual Server configuration problem fixed.
- Some fixes in nat management module.

Q Desktop Services 0.4.4
QDS is a library for Qt developers which provides cross-platform access to additional features of the various desktop APIs. more>>
The QDS library allows Qt applications to access features provided in common desktop APIs in a portable way, without requiring dependencies on any desktop platform library.
This is especially useful for applications targeting the Unix desktops, because Qt/X11 is very generic and only provides features it can implement on all sub platforms. All library code is licenced under 2-clause BSD licence.
Service implementations are loaded from plugins which link to the respective desktop libraries. The plugin to use can be specified on the applications commandline, in the QDS configuration file or QDS can try to autodetect the currently running platform.
Enhancements:
- Autodetection to use GNOME plugin in case GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID is set
- Replaced the primitive example application with a simple but network aware text editor application
- Support for wildcards in mailcap entries

Parallel Network Scanner 1.11
Parallel Network Scanner provides a fast network services scanner. more>>
Parallel Network Scanner provides a fast network services scanner.
pnscan is a scanner for TCP network services. It uses multithreading to increase its speed.
pnscan tries to be smart as to how many threads to start - it will dynamically start only as many as is needed to make progress in the scan - up to a maximum either as specified with the "-n" command line option, or 8 minus the maximum number of available file descriptors (pnscan tries to increase
it to the max limit automatically) - or any internal limit on the system (Linux normally only allows 256 threads).
Host ranges can be specified both as a CIDR - network name or IP address / mask bit length and as a range. When using CIDR notation - the first and last address is ignored (normally used for broadcasts)
Some examples:
192.168.0.0/24
192.160.0.1:192.160.0.254
arpanet/8
USAGE - EXAMPLES
# Scan network 192.168.0.0/24 for SSH daemons on port 22
pnscan 192.168.0.0/24 22
pnscan 192.168.0.1:192.168.0.254 ssh
# Scan hosts 192.168.10.34 ... 98 for IDENT servers, max 8 threads
pnscan -n8 -w"VERSION" 192.168.10.34:192.168.10.98 113
# Scan host 127.0.0.1 for WWW servers on all ports
pnscan -w"HEAD / HTTP/1.0rnrn" -r"Server:" 192.168.0.32 1:65525
pnscan -w"HEAD / HTTP/1.0rnrn" -r"Server:" localhost 1:65525
# Send binary data and expect the binary sequence FF 00 FF on port 145.
pnscan -W"05 5A 37" -R"FF 00 FF" 192.168.0.32 145
# Scan for Roxen servers and print the whole Server-line
pnscan -l -w"HEAD / HTTP/1.0rnrn" -r"Roxen" localhost 1:65525
# Scan for pidentd servers and try to locate the version
pnscan -w"VERSION" 192.160.0.0/24 113
# Scan network arpanet/24 for daytime servers and sort them IP-numerically
pnscan arpanet/10 daytime | ipsort
# Read host (&port) lines from stdin and scan the selected hosts for SSH
echo 192.160.10.11 ssh | pnscan -v
echo 192.160.10.12 | pnscan 22
Enhancements:
- pnscan.sgml Added the other options implemented in pnscan.c.
- pnscan.c: Modified the threads startup code to dynamically only start as many threads as is needed.

A manpage providing extensive information on NSAT has been included in the distribution. It is available after a make install, or just by typing man doc/nsat.8 from this dir. It is suggested that you inform yourself at least about the -v (scan verbosity) option and edit the configuration file. To learn about changes in this version, please consult doc/CHANGES.
New to this version is support for distributed scanning. The manpage describes how to do a distributed scan. Note that distributed scanning in this version is just a preliminary, proof-of-concept, implementation with no guarantees for its security, reliability, or performance.

Network Security Toolkit 1.5.0
Network Security Toolkit is a bootable ISO live CD and its based on Fedora Core 2. more>>
Network Security Toolkit is a bootable ISO live CD and its based on Fedora Core 2.
The toolkit was designed to provide easy access to best-of-breed Open Source Network Security Applications and should run on most x86 platforms.
The main intent of developing this toolkit was to provide the network security administrator with a comprehensive set of Open Source Network Security Tools. The majority of tools published in the article: Top 75 Security Tools by insecure.org are available in the toolkit.
What we find rather fascinating with NST is that we can transform most x86 systems (Pentium II and above) into a system designed for network traffic analysis, intrusion detection, network packet generation, wireless network monitoring, a virtual system service server, or a sophisticated network/host scanner.
This can all be done without disturbing or modifying any underlying sub-system disk. NST can be up and running on a typical x86 notebook in less than a minute by just rebooting with the NST ISO CD. The notebooks hard disk will not be altered in any way.
NST also makes an excellent tool to help one with all sorts of crash recovery troubleshooting scenarios and situations.
Enhancements:
- We are pleased to announce the latest NST release: v1.5.0. This release is based on Fedora Core 5 using the Linux kernel 2.6.18. Here are some of the highlights for this release: the NST Web User Interface (WUI), has been greatly enhanced and cleaned up; extensive additions to managing and analyzing network packet captures; the ability to setup and manage printers; the ability to easily mount many different supported file system types; the ability to manage the NST as a file server (both NFS and CIFS); the addition of the Inprotect package (a Nessus manager); the addition of the Zabbix package (another network resource monitoring tool - similar to Nagios)....
