nzbperl is a newsreader utility that can process an nzb file, autodecode, and do bandwidth throttling.
Run Linux (or OSX or Windows)? Need a multi-connection newsreader utility that can process an nzb file and autodecode and even do bandwidth throttling? Youve come to the right place.
I looked around for something that I could use for nzb files on my Linux setup, and I soon discovered limited options. There are progs out there that will download nzb files (nzbget and knzb are apparently the most visible ones), but none seemed to have a key feature that I put importance on: bandwidth throttling. So, like many other one-off hacks and open source projects, this little toy was built to scratch an itch.
Main features:
- Automated parsing and sorting of nzb files
- Supports multiple server connections
- Automated parts downloading, assembling, and decoding
- Decodes uuencoded and yenc encoded files (via uudeview)
- User controllable bandwidth throttling (even change speeds during runtime)
- Nice colored text display with progress information
- News server authentication (optional)
- Perl script requires no compilation.
- Few dependencies
- Small footprint (about a 57kB download)

Neutronium 0.6

Neutronium 0.6

Neutronium provides a darker Mac-lookalike theme. more>>
Neutronium provides a darker Mac-lookalike theme.
Neutronium is a darker Mac-lookalike theme. It contains themes for Metacity, Cgwd/Emerald and GTK2.
The GTK2 theme is split in two versions.
Neutronium-High has higher contrast, white text. Neutronium-Low has lower contrast, light grey text.
The Cgwd theme is split in four versions. Two of them have 7px borders and the other two 2px borders. There is also the choice between sharp or rounded corners. If you use Emerald/Beryl, rename the files to .emerald and import.
The same applies to Metacity themes. Download the tarball, extract it and import the parts in Gnome Theme Manager.
Firefox web form color fix and icon fix for Open Office are provided in /Neutronium-Theme-Pack/Neutronium-GTK2/instructions.txt
Enhancements:
- Thanks to quimchin, colors in Firefox can now be fixed. There is no longer need for a separate Firefox theme.
- Fixed the Nautilus separator issue and added instructions for fixing Open Office 2. (big thanks to zammi)
- There were some problems with the server this theme was hosted on. Gnome-look only offers to host one file per theme page, and I didnt want to split the parts on diffrent pages. Now all parts (Metacity, Cgwd and GTK2) are in one tarball.
- Some minor pixmap changes in the GTK2 themes. 2px borders added to Cgwd and Metacity themes.

RockBot 6

RockBot 6

Rockbot is a C irc robot initally based on comstuds Combot. more>>
RockBot is a fully functional multi-channel bot for IRC. It has hundreds of usefull commands for managing channels, amusing your friends, and protecting ownership. It is a good alternitive to an eggdrop type bot.
DCC model of rockbox is different like eggdrop. In RockBot YOU NEVER initiate a DCC chat with the bot. In all cases the bot will send you a DCC chat request when it needs one due to the type of data its returning. If you have trouble with DCCs it may be the bot cannotdetermine its true IP address on the machine. Try playing with "#define PPP" in config.h.
Enhancements:
- The data files and memory model were totally re-written. RockBot now uses a multiple-channel scheme for keeping track of users, and also allows one user to store multiple hostmasks under one "handle". There is also a "global" config that controls the default settings for channels and high level bot users. In order to diferentiate
- between global commands and local channel commands the following syntax has been implimented:
- (Note: This example assumes CMDCHAR is !)
- Sent to a channel -> !userlist = userlist of the channel typed in
- Sent to a channel -> !#mychannel userlist = userlist of #mychannel
- Sent to a channel -> !!userlist = global userlist
- ---
- Privmsg to bot -> #mychan userlist = userlist of #mychan
- Privmsg to bot -> !userlist = global userlist
- ---
- When you use JOIN a data file will be created to contain the new channels users, settings, topic etc. The LEAVE command parts the bot but does NOT remove the datafiles, however REMCHAN does.

fntsample is a program for making font samples that show Unicode coverage of the font. more>>
fntsample is a program for making font samples that show Unicode coverage of the font.
The samples are similar in appearance to Unicode charts. Samples can be saved as PDF or PostScript files.
Installation:
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.
Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.
4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.
Enhancements:
- This release makes it possible to change the default font styles and sizes for headers and numbers displayed on font samples.

perlcdio 0.2.3

perlcdio 0.2.3

perlcdio is a lower-level wrapper to libcdio, the CD Input and Control library. more>>
perlcdio is a lower-level wrapper to libcdio, the CD Input and Control library.

SYNOPSIS

This is fairly straight-forward wrapper around the C library libcdio. Although this is perfectly usable on its own, it is expected that the Object-Oriented interface Device::Cdio is what most people will want to use.
There are various constants that are defined here.

Encapsulation is done in two parts. The lower-level Perl interface is called perlcdio (this file) and is generated via SWIG.

CONSTANTS

Driver IDs

DRIVER_UNKNOWN
Use when you dont know what kind of driver and you dont care if it is an CD image driver or a real CD-ROM driver. See also DRIVER_DEVICE which doesnt include image drivers.

DRIVER_AIX

Driver for IBMs AIX.

DRIVER_BSDI

Driver for BSDI.

DRIVER_FREEBSD

Driver for Free BSD

Partition Image 0.6.6

Partition Image 0.6.6

Partition Image is a Linux/UNIX utility which saves partitions in many formats. more>>
Partition Image application is a Linux/UNIX utility which saves partitions in many formats (see below) to an image file.
The image file can be compressed in the GZIP/BZIP2 formats to save disk space, and split into multiple files to be copied on removable floppies (ZIP for example); partitions can be saved across the network since version 0.6.0.
Partition Image will only copy data from the used portions of the partition. For speed and efficiency, free blocks are not written to the image file.
This is unlike the dd command, which also copies empty blocks. Partition Image also works for large, very full partitions. For example, a full 1 GB partition can be compressed with gzip down to 400MB.
This is very useful to save partitions to an image in some cases:
- First you can restore your linux partition if there is a problem (virus, file system errors, manipulation error) . When you have a problem, you just have to restore the partition, and after 10 minutes, you have the original partition. You can write the image to a CD-R if you dont want the image to use hard-disk space.
- This utility can be used to install many identical PCs. For example, if you buy 50 PCs, with the same hardware, and you want to install the same linux systems on all 50 PCs, you will save a lot of time. Indeed, you just have to install on the first PC and create an image from it. For the 49 others, you can use the image file and Partition Images restore function.

db4o 6.1

db4o 6.1

db4o is an object database available for Java and for .NET, including CompactFramework and Mono. more>>
db4o is designed to be a simple, easy-to-use, and fast, native object database. Software developers using popular Java and .NET object-oriented frameworks know that using object databases is a more natural way to get work done. Developers have three ways to storing and retrieving data: relational, non-native object and native object.
Relational databases, such as Oracle, IBMs DB2 and Microsofts SQL server, store data in a tabular, row-and-column metaphor. The organization of traditional data in a relational database is easy to understand. The concept took off and today most data is stored in relational databases.
However, as object-oriented models became popular, developers were spending time trying to map objects into a relational database. Today, developers are forced to rely on relational-to-object mappers, but this technology compromise adds a layer of complexity and degrades performance. It is best suited for organizations that rely on legacy data.
Non-native object databases came on to the market in the early 1990s with great fanfare. But their promise was largely unfulfilled. Developers found the technology expensive, complex and hard to use. The first native object databases had similar shortcomings.
db4o is based on new native object database technology. db4o offers .NET and Java developers the simplest and easiest way to store objects. db4o is the only native object database designed for both Java and .NET, supplied as one single programming library (Java: .jar /.NET: .dll) to be included with developer applications.
Main features:
- One line of code to store objects
- Native Java / .NET
- Class model == database schema
- Smooth production process
- Automatic schema versioning
- Query by example
- S.O.D.A. active queries
- 250kB footprint
- Saves more than 50% costs to develop your application
- Saves more than 50% time to release your application
- No need for training and administration
- Build lean, structured and manageable code
- Improve your software lifecycle with better refactorability and re-use
Enhancements:
- This release comes with an improved client/server protocol, which is now completely asynchronous and able to batch messages.
- Both changes reduce the number of client/server message round trips, and therefore improve client/server performance.
