Freedroid RPG 0.10.2

Freedroid RPG 0.10.2

Freedroid RPG is an extension/modification of the classical Freedroid engine into an RPG. more>>
Freedroid RPG project is an extension/modification of the classical Freedroid engine into an RPG. The main differences to the classical version are as follows:
- The Tux is the main character of the rpg.
- The game uses isometric viewpoint and animated pre-rendered 3d character models for all characters inside the game.
- Dialogs and chatting with friendly droids and humans: Multiple-choice menus and voice samples (with subtitles for those without sound).
- There is an item and inventory system that is modeled after some popular standards of the industry
- An automap feature was added. (this is currently a bit unmaintained since part of the code needs to be re-written for proper OpenGL support in the automap display)
- Saving and loading of games.
- Shops to trade things and skills to learn.
- Controls are different: Mouse is the input method of choice.
- This is a graphically intense game. Therefore the archive size is comparably *huge* and not suitable for modem downloads with a dialup connection.
Enhancements:
- This version, mostly unchanged from -rc4, focuses on making the development for the game easier, exports some hardcoded data into files, makes the map editor a bit more usable, and has other major and minor tweaks.

Anarchist 0.2.0

Anarchist 0.2.0

Anarchist project is a tactics RPG. more>>
Anarchist project is a tactics RPG.
Anarchist is a tactics RPG written in Java. It draws heavy influence from Final Fantasy Tactics in the way combat works. It is designed to run on any platform and have minimal system requirements. Anarchist is copyrighted under the GNU General Public License.
Enhancements:
- It has been ported to Java
- It is now graphical instead of ASCII
- Classes are now referred to as Jobs, to avoid confusing Java.
- The Jobs file has been split into a barebones Jobs file and a Skills file.
- Everything that relates to in-game definitions (such as the Jobs and Skills file, as well as maps) has been moved into a modules directory, ./modules/anarchist. This is to allow 3rd parties to develop their own plot and use the Anarchist engine. The "Anarchist" project is now both the Anarchist engine and the Anarchist module that uses the Anarchist engine.

OpenRPG 1.7.1

OpenRPG 1.7.1

OpenRPG is suite of role-playing utilities for online and tabletop gaming. more>>
OpenRPG project is suite of RPG utilities for online and tabletop gaming.
More accurately described, OpenRPG is a role-playing game shell. In its basic form, OpenRPG is a peer-to-peer chat program with very advanced die rolling capabilities, a web based miniature map (think virtual table top), and a data organizer (game tree).
However, OpenRPG is highly extendable and customizable. OpenRPG is designed in a way to facilitate the development of add-ons or extension modules (called applets) that can add to its functionality.
Add-ons are created on top of the gaming shell using resources provided by the OpenRPG core. Currently, OpenRPG contains a collection of generic and system specific add-ons. OpenRPG also supports form based character sheet.
Main features:
Miniature Map: Simulate combat with a layered, web base, miniature map. Load any image off the web! Map features include: hex or square adjustable overlay grid, background images, z-order, facing, labels, free hand drawing, tape measure, and more.
Game Tree: A highly customizable data organizer that allows for the creating of custom made characters sheets and GM aids. A plug in architecture that allows for openrpg add-ons!
Chat: A full featured chat system that allows embed HTML. Embed color, tables, images, and links!
Die Engine: A full feature die engine that contains many of the common die roll options and a plug in architecture that allows for the development of game specific rollers.
Game Servers: Run your own dedicated game server.

Sphere RPG Engine 1.0

Sphere RPG Engine 1.0

Sphere RPG Engine project is a role-playing game creation engine. more>>
Sphere RPG Engine project is a role-playing game creation engine.

Sphere is a RPGCE (a role-playing game (RPG) creation engine) that allows you to relatively easily put together an RPG along the lines of Final Fantasy 6 or Phantasy Star.

It supports 32-bit graphics (with 256 levels of translucency) and MP3, Ogg, MOD, S3M, IT, and XM files for audio (and WAV and SPX (speex) for sound effects), and does not place arbitrary limits on map, tile set, sprite set, or script sizes.

It also supports the three standard modes of input for games: keyboard, mouse, and joystick.

Sphere uses SpiderMonkey (Mozillas JavaScript implementation) for scripting. JavaScript is a very powerful, easy, and flexible language.

The core Sphere engine, after being installed, can run several games. This means that the games dont have to be distributed with the engine, saving download time and disk space. Also, the games can be run on other operating systems, such as Linux, if the engine runs there. On the other hand, you can include the Sphere engine with your game so that Windows users can run your game out of the box.

The Sphere engine is based around maps. Maps use tilesets, which are collections of tiles. A map of a beach would have tiles that represent the sand, the water, clouds, signs, and anything else on the beach. Sphere has support for animated tiles.

Torches could flicker in a cave, or waves could lap at the shore. Maps support unlimited layers, each with parallax and automatic scrolling.

Objects in Sphere are represented as entities. Townspeople are defined with spritesets, which are collections of frames. People can walk in eight directions, and have special directions (usually used for emotions or running). Unlike most RPG engines, spritesets in Sphere have a variable size. Large animal spritesets are used just as easily as people.

Sloth Online RPG 0.15

Sloth Online RPG 0.15

Sloth Online RPG is aJava Online RPG with Real-Time Action and rich 2D graphics. more>>
Sloth Online RPG is aJava Online RPG with Real-Time Action and rich 2D graphics.

Sloth Online RPG is a work in progress that will provide a fully graphical online role playing game engine. SlothORPG is coded in Java and is currently in a near playable state featuring several classes with over a thousand lines of code.

My main intentions with this project are to provide a free, fully functional, ever expanding Role Playing Engine (both client and server side) for the end user who would be playing the game. Developers would also be able to use the project as a resource on certain aspects of Java Game Programming.

Server side the project implements the NIO Networking library to create a smoother, stronger tcp/ip core. I found UDP and TCP w/ the old IO library to be unreliable and sluggish respectively. The way in which the server is structured has proven to be strong thus far.

The client side of the code features the Graphics2D Java library to provide near perfect animation without requiring a rendering device such as OpenGL or DirectX.

To summarize my entire intent for this project I basically wanted to provide an Online RPG that is functional on almost any OS that has Java installed and can run just as smooth on low end machines while still being able to feature rich 2-D graphics. The source code is clean and neat as well as commented and organized.

It is easy to read and understand for someone who has some knowledge of Java. As I write this, the project is coming along nicely and some pre-alpha local network testing has proven this. I plan to continue with this project and in the future include database integration and more of a developer-side interface.

A quick rundown of what this project includes so far: Character Creation, Smooth character animation, and fully supported tcp/ip gameplay. Chatting is also implemented.

Adrian project is a RPG using SDL and OpenGL.
Story Line:
Loacated In the deserts of Nevada, Area 51 the eternally mysterious facilities of the United States Army have been taken over by an evil scientist with the help of his genetically engineered creatures.
He plans to destroy the world using the the Intercontinental Balistic missiles (ICBMs) which have been lying unarmed in the desert since the end of cold war. He plans to arm these missiles and launch an attack on the world resulting in a Nuclear Holocaust.

Wyrm Tools 0.13.0

Wyrm Tools 0.13.0

Wyrm Tools is a suite of tools for any RPG system. more>>
Wyrm Tools is a suite of tools to make your gaming more productive regardless of which rules system you use. More importantly, Wyrm Tools is an RPG tool platform.

While this project anticipates to offer the standard RPG tool fare (such as a character generator and editor), it gives users the flexibility to add their own tools, even to the point of defining their own game systems.

The foundation of Wyrm Tools is the Eclipse Rich Client Platform. Wyrm Tools is to be to RPGs what Eclipse is to, well, everything else.

The overall project has progressed to a pre-alpha release. The core platform functionality (i.e. the game system agnostic bits) are mature. Currently, the d20 3.5 game system is being implemented along with a d20 character editor.

Realms of Rivalry

Realms of Rivalry

Realms of Rivalry is an online tactical rpg. more>>
Realms of Rivalry is an online tactical rpg. Play short skirmishes in random-generated game worlds.
The game can be summarized as an online graphical turn-based strategy/rpg game where you can play short tactical skirmishes with 2-4 players in small random-generated game worlds. The game is free and can be played either as an applet or downloadable client.
The time-limited turns (30-90 secs) give the game a semi-realtime feel, and the game has sometimes been characterized as "chess on steroids".
Main features:
- Community friendly game lobby where you can chat with others and join realms.
- Up to 4 players simultaneously battling on the same realm.
- Players control teams of 3 characters: Warrior, Archer and Mage.
- Time-limited turn-based gameplay.
- Random-generated game worlds (realms).
- CPU controlled monsters.
- Several weapons, armor, traps and other items.
- Occlusion calculation used in combat situations.
- Interrupts.
- Different types of terrain.
- Buy & sell items at vendors.
- Monster respawning.
- Ingame chat.
- Detailed end-of-game summary panel.
Explore the map and kill creatures to obtain weapons, potions, runes, traps and more to aid you in your quest for domination!
The game development has been very "test-driven" in the sense that the game quickly was made playable and that features and changes were added and removed continuously during development. This hopefully improves gameplay, but of course at the expense of dramatically increased development time.
Realms of rivalry was never intended to "soothe the masses", but were made entirely to match the game that we ourselves would like to play - something we have done for many, many hours :-) But of course, some of you might enjoy this game aswell, and that is why we decided to share it with you!.
