Apache XML Projects goals are:
- to provide commercial-quality standards-based XML solutions that are developed in an open and cooperative fashion,
- to provide feedback to standards bodies (such as IETF and W3C) from an implementation perspective, and
- to be a focus for XML-related activities within Apache projects
The Apache XML Project used to be the home for many XML-related subprojects, many of which have moved to top-level project status recently or are currently in migration. The Apache XML Project slowly transforms into an place where you can find pointers to XML-related projects here in the Apache Software Foundation. The remaining subprojects directly under the supervision of the XML PMC are:
- AxKit - XML-based web publishing, in mod_perl
- Crimson - A Java XML parser derived from the Sun Project X Parser.

- XML Commons - focussed on common code and guidelines for XML projects
- XML Security - Java and C++ implementations of the XML signature and encryption standards

Flame Project is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for producing Flash and Animated SVG files, similar to Macromedia Captivate. It is licensed under the LGPL.

Imagine a free, easy to use GUI authoring environment that helps you create visually impressive and actually useful learning material. The short term goal for this project is to provide such an environment, and were well on the way to a first release for doing that.

Initially similar to Macromedia Captivate, but a big part is the support for Animated SVG. Flash has at least one serious design limitation (from my POV) making it nearly useless for comprehensive eLearning, and this appears to be addressed by the SVG spec.

The long term goal for this project is to provide both a complete authoring solution (like the Macromedia Flash IDE), and the components for server side communication, but thats a long way off. Lets finish the first bits first.

The Aurora Project is an attempt to create a new generation of Linux distributions. It will try to break free from old patterns and establish Linux as a serious world player.
Currently, Aurora Project consists of the Aurora Desktop Environment which, unlike most other Linux-based desktop environments, dont attempts to accomplish everything but to remove the focus from system configuration and desktop customizing by creating an easy-to-use out-of-the-box intuitive and beutiful desktop experience.
The UI is (for now) somewhat Microsoft Windows-inspired. I am satisfied with the general layout of the panel and start menu, currently I am busy designing the core functionality of the desktop with the panel as my number one priority. Also there is the session manager, the desktop manager and the shared library.
The Aurora Project currently consists of two major components - the panel and the shared library.

MITRE Honeyclient Project is a honeyclient is a dedicated host that drives specially instrumented applications to access remote servers to see if those servers are behaving in a malicious manner. Specifically, honeyclients can proactively detect exploits against client applications without known signatures.
The MITRE Honeyclient Project strives to educate the public about client application exploits and their attack mechanisms. This project is a Perl-based open source framework, designed to create and manage implementations of Honeyclient systems.
Enhancements:
- This release resolves ticket #68, which caused the program to block you from starting a Manager process without initializing a database (even if you disabled database support).
- To upgrade, simply download the new HoneyClient-Manager-0.99.tar.gz package, as no other packages have changed.

Qt MySQL Budget project is a GUI that allows the creation of a personal budget.

The basic layout is a month selector, a tab for your allocations (budget), a tab for your expenses, and a tab showing the totals.

It has a very simple design allowing the quick creation and updating of budgets to help individuals plot and track their monthly sending.

Compute Portal Project is a portal project to produce a web based front end to a compute resource, such as a cluster, using PHP, mysql, and apache.
The intent is to allow non-programmers to use complex programs through an intuitive interface.
Enhancements:
- This is the third attempt to create a working release with an install script.
- The last two releases were plagued with copy and paste errors.
- This release is strictly a bugfix release that has been tested in a production environment.
- There may still be residual problems from the 0.8.8 to 0.8.9 transition that included the first install script and moved several directory locations.
