MySQL PHP to PostgreSQL is an application that takes a php page that uses mysql calls and changes them into PostgreSQL calls.
This allows any website (if it converts properly) that was written in PHP for MySQL to run as a website written to run on PostgreSQL.
- Step 1: Download and uncompress
To uncompress simply type: tar xvzf mysqlphp2postgres.tar.gz
If youre on a non-GNU system you might have to type: gzip -dc mysqlphp2postgres.tar.gz | tar xvf -
- Step 2: Compile
To compile simply type: make
If youre on a non-GNU system youll have to edit the make file to change the compiler to cc instead of gcc
- Step 3: Install
Type: make install
This will simply copy the binary file to /usr/local/bin/
- Step 4: Convert
Type: mysqlphp2postgres inputfile.php outputfile.php
The input file is the php page that uses mysql. The outfile is the page you want to create. You will probably need to tell mysqlphp2postgres the name of the postgreSQL database since mysql_select_db doesnt translate. You can do this by using a -d switch. So if, for example, the database youre connecting to is called blah, you could type: mysqlphp2postgres -d blah inputfile.php outputfile.php

MySQL has a lot more functions in PHP than PostgreSQL that do more things. I havent had a problem with any unsupported functions in my programs, but someone probably will. If you want to help write code for this to support those functions (if thats even possible) feel free to help.

MySQL Abstractor package contains PHP classes that implements a MySQL database abstraction layer.

It provides several classes. There is one for establishing connections and executing SQL queries, another for composing and executing SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE queries from a list of parameters, and a wrapper class to simplify the usage of the other two classes.

Remote MySQL Query is a PHP class that can easily execute queries on a remote MySQL server using only HTTP.

It works by accessing a PHP script on the remote web server that executes queries based on passed in URL parameters.

The client passes a secret key to the remote script to prevent unauthorized access.

The remote script passes back the results to the requesting client using XML to marshal the data.

The class parses the results XML data returned by the server script and returns an array.

It, also, retrieves (into class variables) the number of records returned by the query and the time the query took to execute.

The server script may be used to execute MySQL queries that can be retrieved by programs written in other languages besides PHP.

phpMysqlConnection provides a PHP class for handling MySQL database connections.
phpMysqlConnection is an interface class to be used with the PHP programming language to help projects connect to a MySQL database server and perform queries.
The methods of this class prevent the programmer from having to memorize all the different steps needed to connect to the database, perform a query, and retrieve results.
Enhancements:
- A function to return XML-formatted data record sets from queries has been added.

PHP mySQL Database Wrapper Class provides a set of methods for interacting with a MySQL database easily and securely. Most of the methods are extended versions of PHPs native functions, but providing a lot more functionality and powerful debugging features.
There are also new methods that greatly simplify the process of executing specific queries like returning specific rows or even single values from specific rows, SUM(), COUNT(), and MAX() queries.
Enhancements:
- The result of select queries can now be cached.
- All records returned by SELECT queries were shown in the debug window, which would crash the script if there were lots of rows.
- The "showMaxRows" allows you to restrict this number.
- A bug when working with queries using replacements and having apostrophes in the replacements was fixed.
- Due to a typographical error, no error message was shown if a database could not be selected.
- New methods were added: "delete", "truncate", "insert", and "update" which are all shorthand for performing the respective SQL tasks.

Myth2 project is a interactive story script in PHP/MySQL. Myth2 is an implementation of a binary tree and used to run an interactive story.
The user traverses down the tree and at each node is given a bit of story and two options to choose which path to follow. If there is no story after the option, the user is given the chance to add to the story.
Myth2 is coded entirely in PHP and uses MySQL for the backend. It was developed on php 4.3.2 and mysql 4.0.12, however it should work fine on lower versions of php4 and mysql3.x and 4.x.
Myth2 is basically a implemention of a binary tree using php/mysql.
