Free mp3 streaming software for linux

This module enables to listen to mp3-streams according to certain security policies (enabled user). The mp3s do not have to be in the web-servers document root.
Main features:
- XHTML compliant.
- Admin interface allows you to change position, visibility and title of the stream playlist Box.
- You dont have to fiddle around with config files. Interface is provided to configure the paths etc., user access and reset the access counter.
- Dynamic directory parsing for mp3-files
- mp3-file names are not held in a database as the File/Directory names are used to create the displayed Songs, album titles etc. as mp3 tags extraction capabilities are not included in php by default.
- Artist, Album, mp3-file browsable
- Playlist handling capabilities with playlist editor
- Demo mode for guests possible, e.g. streaming not enabled.
- Clicking on a Song will send a mpeg-url type information to the mp3-player application such as winamp or xmms. (Tested under linux with xmms only).
Version restrictions:
- The software only searches through 2 Directory structures. It is meant to go through: $mp3dir/Artist-Name/Album-Name/mp3-files.mp3 It however detects files in the Artist-Directory and shows these accordingly. As I didnt use this function, I dont know what it looks like though.

PicoStreamer is a complete server for live audio/video streaming. It can stream MP3, AAC, and video live using Flash FLV. PicoStreamer does not require any Flash server. It only needs a Web server with Perl and PHP. It requires neither expensive dedicated servers nor compilation on the target machine.
A source client (for Win32) is included. A management/playing framework written in PHP makes PicoStreamer simple to use. The PicoIcy component acts as a local shoutcast server emulator, so you can use your preferred shoutcast source client to stream or stream Flash format directly from the Web.

FFmpeg::Stream::Audio is an audio stream from a (multi)media stream group.

Objects of this class are not intended to be instantiated directly by the end user. Access FFmpeg::Stream::Audio objects using methods in FFmpeg::StreamGroup. See FFmpeg::StreamGroup for more information.

This class represents an audio stream in a multimedia stream group, and has audio-specific attributes. General stream attributes can be found in the FFmpeg::Stream class.

Ezstream is a command line source client for the Icecast media streaming server. It can stream Ogg Vorbis and MP3 audio, as well as Ogg Theora video, either "as-is" without reencoding (which uses only very little CPU time) or it can use external decoders and encoders to convert virtually any media format into one of the supported streaming formats. The project supports metadata, streaming from standard input, playlists, and external playlist scripts or programs, and more.

Streamripper records shoutcast-compatible streams. For shoutcast style streams it finds the "meta data" or track separation data, and uses that as a marker for where the track should be separated.
The MP3 data is decoded and scanned for a silent point, which is where tracks will be created.
Streamripper was started sometime back in early 2000. Streamripper started as a way to separate tracks via Shoutcasts title-streaming feature. This has now been expanded into a much more generic feature, where part of the program only tries to "hint" at where one track starts and another ends, thus allowing a mp3 decoding engine to scan for a silent mark, which is used to find an exact track separation.
Streamripper is now part of the FreeBSD standard distribution, mentioned in the Linux MP3 HOWTO, known to compile on many platforms such as Linux, Windows, FreeBSD, BeOS, OS/2. This is not surprising as portability was a constant consideration during development.
With the emergence of file sharing protocols such as Napster, Gnutella, and now Mojonation and Freenet, the average Internet user can download nearly any mp3 he wants in a matter of no time, but many times people dont know what they want.
Streamripper allows you to download an entire station of music. Many of these mp3 radio stations only play certain genres, so you can now download an entire collection of goa/trance music, an entire collection of jazz, punk rock, whatever you want.

MP3::Tag is a Perl module for reading tags of MP3 audio files.
