Morphix project is a derivative of Knoppix, another live CD distribution. more>>
Morphix project is a derivative of Knoppix, another live CD distribution. Morphix is modular; this means that it consists of a number of parts which together form a working distribution. What does this mean to a normal user?

Well, thats the good part: it doesnt even know about the modules. They are invisible to it, save the startup-output on the console. So, if you dont care about how it works, just grab one of the combined ISOs and boot it!

There are different pre-made cd images with a whole range of (currently GUI-centered) software. It has an easy-to-use installer, if you wish to install it to your harddisk, but it doesnt need to be installed. It doesnt touch the rest of your system without specifically asking you.

Morphix is the best kick-ass GNU/Linux LiveCD around. Quick, flexible, rebuildable from scratch and available in four flavours. more>>
Morphix is the best kick-ass GNU/Linux LiveCD around. Quick, flexible, rebuildable from scratch and available in four flavours.
Morphix is built from the existing Knoppix and Debian GNU/Linux distributions. But Morphix is modular; this means that it consists of a number of parts which together form a working distribution. What does this mean to a normal user?
Well, thats the good part: he/she doesnt even know about the modules. The modularity is invisible to the user, save the startup-output on the console (which is hidden via a progress-screen/slideshow in the latest releases).
So, if you dont care about how it works, just grab one of the combined isos and boot it! The best thing is that these isos can be easily modified (Morphed) by you as you require.
Morphix is a LiveCD - A whole operating system on CD rather than a hard drive. In other words, you dont have to install anything to your harddisk.
Simply download an ISO, burn this to a CD, reboot your pc with the cd in the drive, use Morphix!
When you reboot (without the cd in the drive) your machine will be the way you had it before...completely unchanged.
Enhancements:
- unionfs now used (replaces cowloop)
- unionctl added to base module (allows adding/removal of branches)
- supports non-ext3-type mainmodules again
- uses 2.6.11 kernel
- fix for grub Error 21 applied, grub updated to 0.96
- apt-get install now supported from live CD
- ndiswrapper included
- ipw2100 driver included
- linux-wlan drivers included
- boot harddiskinstall from livecd menu added
- /etc/network/interfaces fixed
- translucency and mini_fo codepaths removed

IsaMorph 0.9

IsaMorph 0.9

IsaMorph is a GNU/Linux Live CD (based on Morphix) featuring the interactive theorem prover Isabelle. more>>
IsaMorph is a linux distribution Live CD (based on Morphix) featuring the interactive theorem prover Isabelle.
This means, you can boot from the CD and get a fully operational "theorem proving" environment without installing GNU/Linux or Isabelle. Just insert the CD in your PC and have five minutes later your first theorem proven.
All programs distributed within IsaMorph are free software. This means that the operating system and the applications contained in this CD can be freely copied, modified and distributed. So please feel free to give copies to your friends or colleagues.
Insert the CD into the CD drive on an Intel compatible PC or laptop. Now reboot the computer. Ensure that the first boot device is CD. For this, you may have to change the BIOS settings of your computer.
If you are not familiar with it, get help from your system administrator or someone who knows how to do it. As the computer starts booting, it will search for a CD in the drive. A menu will appear after some time.
Just press the Enter key or wait for some time. The computer will continue to boot from the CD and, hopefully, give you a graphical screen similar to what you are familiar with. You can click on the menu at the top left and start applications.
IsaMorph contains a fully working Isabelle environment supporting proving and document generation, this includes:
Isabelle (version 2005)
The interactive theorem prover Isabelle 2005 with at least the following logics compiled in: HOL, HOL-Complex, ZF, FOL, and Pure. Thus, after booting IsaMorph you can immediately prove theorems in any of these logics. The CD includes a offline version of Isabelles tutorials and theory documentation.
HOL-TestGen (version 1.1.1)
A test case generator for specification based unit testing. It is built on top of the specfication and theorem proving environment Isabelle/HOL.
Proof General (version 3.6pre)
A powerful User Interface for Isabelle.
SML of New Jersey (version 110.56)
The Standard ML Environment used for compiling and executing Isabelle.
GNU Emacs (version 22.0.50)
The GNU Emacs editor which builds together with Proof General the main user interface of Isabelle.
teTeX (version 2.0.2)
A complete LaTeX environment used for the generation of proof documents.
Other Applications
In addition, the CD also contains a variety of applications for a common use. It includes a user-friendly desktop (Gnome) an Internet browser (Mozilla), and so on. Just take a look at the menu to find out many more. I tried to minimize the number of non Isabelle specific software to minimize the download size.
Enhancements:
- This is release updates all software on the CD, including all base utilities and all Isabelle related software.
- Particularly, this is the first release featuring the latest Isabelle version (2005), X-Symbol (3.6pre), and also HOL-TestGen (1.1.1).

USF FlashMob RC4

USF FlashMob RC4

USF FlashMob is a Live CD made by FlashMobComputing.org more>>
USF FlashMob is a Live CD made by FlashMobComputing.org
USF FlashMob RC4 contains updates that we made to the server code the night before flashmob day. This will allow power users to run larger flashmobs and configure individual nodes with different processor types. In addition we have released the source code for USF_FlashMob_RC_4 (source).
We have put the source for the FlashMob ISO image into the following directories:
- kernel: The patched and modified kernel Linux kernel (2.4.25) that we use on the CD. Kernel modules added to the CD.
- fmtools: The code that runs the FlashMob (fm_* programs).
- mpi: The source for the implementations of MPI on the CD. These are unmodified versions of LAM-MPI and LAMPI.
- blas: The source we used for the ATLAS BLAS libraries. This is unmodified.
- hpl: The modified versions of HPL we used on the CD.
Documentation to build a FlashMob CD does not exist yet. Take a look at the morphix scripts in fmtools. These will let you "unpack" and "pack" a FlashMob CD.

PHLAK 0.3

PHLAK 0.3

PHLAK is Professional Hackers Linux Assault Kit. more>>
PHLAK is a modular live security Linux distribution. PHLAK comes with two light guis (fluxbox and XFCE4), many security tools, and a spiral notebook full of security documentation. PHLAK is a derivative of Morphix, created by Alex de Landgraaf.

The story begins with two coffee drinkers from Longview, Texas. James Hartman and Shawn Hawkins were like any other Linux users, hitting Slashdot in the morning, researching numerous open source repositories, and experimenting with interesting projects.

Always security minded, the two developers started looking at live security distributions. Never being completely satisfied with existing projects, the two started on a mission to create the most complete live security Linux distribution.

So began the research. Instead of starting from scratch they decided to look at some of the other preexisting live CD distibution, finally settling on Morphix due to its modularity. After three months of development the initial version was released. Two moths later 0.2 was released with all fifteen pieces of flair.

PHLAK is designed as the security professionals tool kit. It is not meant to turn the unexperienced into a security guru overnight. However, anyone with the desire can learn from the included tools and documentation.

Like any good tool, PHLAK can be used by Sith or Jedi alike. Included in the distribution are all the mainstream tools such as: nmap, nessus, snort, the coronors toolkit, ethereal, and several other security packages.

Some of the other lesser known, yet equally effective, tools include: hping2, proxychains, lczroex, ettercap, kismet, hunt, achilies, brutus, and many others. Make no mistake, this is a real Linux distribution including many common services such as apache, mysql, ssh, iptables, and most other services that are included on any other standard distribution.

To make things more user-friendly, PHLAK currently includes two fast, light-weight window managers, XFCE4 (the default) and Fluxbox. From these window managers the user has easy access to the powerful documentation system. Currently included in the XFCE4 user interface are quick-start buttons to initiate services and different firewall settings for those who are command line impaired.

Remember that PHLAK is still in its infancy. It is constantly progressing towards the level the developers had originally envisioned. The future versions of PHLAK will better harness the modularity of its Morphix origin as well as increase its base of hardware support and detection.

The project team is dedicated to expanding and updating the PHLAK security arsenal as well as making it more available to a broader user base. They foresee it becoming the Professional Hackers Linux Assault Kit. Make no mistake, the Internet is an unfriendly environment. Arm yourself well.
