Cimon is Perl program wich monitors the load (memory and CPU) on Cisco routers using SNMP. more>>
Cimon is Perl program wich monitors the load (memory and CPU) on Cisco routers using SNMP, and generates graphics with statistics using rrdtool. Its good for information about your routers health.

It monitors and displays the cpu 5 minutes utilization in percents and free+used Processor memory. The I/O memory(usualy 2 MB) or Fast on high end routers is being monitored too, but there isnt graphic for it. Cimon is good source for information about your routers health. From version 0.2 cimon can do ip accounting using the cisco ip accounting feature.
The logfiles that it generates as the rrd files needed for the graphics are fully compatible with those produced by sasacct (SASs accounting statistics). So you can use its cgi interface also its posibility to generate graphics on demand or on a user defined interval (via crontab and -g option).

Monitoring API 2.0 Beta 1

Monitoring API 2.0 Beta 1

Monitoring API project is a multi-user programming interface. more>>
Monitoring API project is a multi-user programming interface designed to simplify the development of network monitoring software and allows users to express their monitoring needs in a device-independent way.
The main abstraction provided by MAPI is the network flow. Although flows have been used before in network monitoring systems, MAPI gives flows a first-class status. Applications that uses MAPI can specify what flows or flow statistics they are interested in by applying functions to flows.
A MAPI function can be a BPF filter, string search, packet counter or more advanced like a NetFlow generator. These function will automatically run in hardware if there is support for it on the hardware being used.
MAPI currently supports the following hardware:
- Normal NICs through libpcap
- DAG cards without co-processor
- SCAMPI adapter
Enhancements:
- This release includes support for distributed monitoring, several new MAPI functions, demo applications, and a lot of bugfixes.

Postfix SMTP Monitoring Solution

Postfix SMTP Monitoring Solution

Postfix SMTP Monitoring Solution is a set of three Perl CGI scripts used to monitor the SMTP queue. more>>
Postfix SMTP Monitoring Solution is a set of three Perl CGI scripts used to monitor the SMTP queue, allowing the deletion of messages that for one reason or another become "stuck" in the queue.

I needed a web-based solution to monitor my Postfix SMTP relay, which enabled me to remove messages that become "stuck" in the queue. I wrote three simple Perl scripts, and used Sudo to give me the desired functionality.

I am uploading these scripts in case they are useful to others. Assuming you have Apache configured correctly on your Postfix server, it should be as easy as placing the three .cgi files into your webservers cgi-bin directory, and making the appropriate modifications to your /etc/sudoers file (see the README contained in the tarball).

Pandora Free Monitoring System 1.2 Beta 2

Pandora Free Monitoring System 1.2 Beta 2

Pandora Free Monitoring System is a free distributed monitoring system. more>>
Pandora are a Free Software set of programs, set under the GPL license, that allows to analyze in a visual way status and performance of several parameters from different Operating Systems, servers, applications and hardware systems as Firewalls, Proxies, Data Bases, Web Servers or Routers. All integrated into an open and distributed architecture.

Pandora can be deployed in every Operating System. You have an agent for every platform. Pandora can monitor hardware systems with TCP/IP Stack, as load balancers, routers, switches, printers and so on.

Pandora has six components: Pandora Data Server, Pandora Network Server, Pandora SNMP Console, Pandora Agents, Pandora Database and Pandora Web Management System (Web Console).

Pandora Servers and SNMP Console

They are the recipient of bundles of information and the generators of alerts; they are the brain of the system. We can have several servers for very big systems or a single server. They are developed in Perl and works under any platform, with the required modules. Nevertheless its "official" platform is GNU/Linux. They also insert the gathered data into the Database. You can have several Pandora Servers connected with the same Database.

Pandora Web Console

It allows to manage the system and to operate with it; its the user interface of Pandora. We can have several Web Consoles in the same implantation. It is developed in PHP and leans on a Data Base and a Web Server, being able to work in any platform: GNU/Linux, Solaris, Win2000, AIX and others.

Pandora Database

Core module of Pandora (as you can see in the architecture overview). In this database resides all the information of the enterprise, for example, all data gathered by agents, all configuration defined by administrator, all events, incidents, audit info... At this moment, only MySQL DataBase is supported. More Databases in the future.

Pandora Agents

They can monitor any numeric parameter, boolean states, strings or numerical incremental data and/or condition. They have a centralized architecture based on lightweight design for agents (shellscript, wsh, perl) and light agents to collect data. They support all type of platforms (Microsoft, AIX, Solaris, GNU/Linux, IPSO, FreeBSD, etc) because the agents are completely free software, and they communicate using SSH, FTP, NFS or other good way, using an XML container to transport data.

Network UPS Tools 2.2.0

Network UPS Tools 2.2.0

Network UPS Tools is an extremely powerful and versatile client/server based approach to UPS monitoring. more>>
Network UPS Tools is a collection of programs which provide a common interface for monitoring and administering UPS hardware. Network UPS Tools uses a layered approach to connect all of the parts.
Drivers are provided for a wide assortment of equipment. They understand the specific language of each UPS and map it back to a compatibility layer.
This means both an expensive "smart" protocol UPS and a simple "power strip" model can be handled transparently.
This information is cached by the network server upsd, which then answers queries from the clients. upsd contains a number of access control features to limit the abilities of the clients. Only authorized hosts may monitor or control your UPS hardware if you wish.
Since the notion of monitoring over the network is built into the software, you can hang many systems off one large UPS and they will all shut down together.
Clients such as upsmon check on the status of the hardware and do things when necessary. The most important task is shutting down the operating system cleanly before the UPS runs out of power.
Other programs are also provided to log UPS status regularly, monitor status through your web browser, and more.
Enhancements:
- HAL support. IPv6 support.
- Support for many new devices.
- Many driver improvements.
- This release uses automake.

Virtual server monitor 0.5

Virtual server monitor 0.5

Virtual server monitor (vsmon) is a monitoring tool for Linux-VServer. more>>
Virtual server monitor (vsmon) is a monitoring tool for Linux-VServer that gives a system administrator a global view of all vservers running on his park.
For now, it does not offer control over the vservers life cycle (e.g. provisioning, start, stop, and restart operations). To use vsmon, you must deploy one backend on each vserver host and one frontend, preferably in its own vserver.
Enhancements:
- The frontend was reworked to display a summary of all hosts.
- An owner can be assigned to each vserver.
- The backend can be used on hosts without Linux-VServers, and it no longer obtains IP addresses.
- The libdnet dependency was removed.
- The parsing of /proc/"pid"/stat now works for kernel 2.6.18.
- A Nagios plugin was added, which enables the use of the vsmon backend to monitor a host disk, memory, and swap.
- The plugin monitors all mount points according to an "intelligent" algorithm, which determines warning and critical thresolds as a function of the total size of the partition.

FreeBSD ports monitoring 1.0

FreeBSD ports monitoring 1.0

FreeBSD ports monitoring project is a simple solution for monitoring what has changed in installed ports on a FreeBSD machine. more>>
FreeBSD ports monitoring project is a simple solution for monitoring what has changed in installed ports on a FreeBSD machine. It works quite well and shows me what is happening on some machines which are manage not only by me. And leaves some trace after handy portupgrade -a command.

But when many ports are upgraded at once output from this script becomes mess and it is hard to read what was added/removed and upgraded. Well it happens when change relates to two ports, neighbours in alphabetical sequence. Diff output with my modifiers becomes unacceptable. So I rewrote it and yes, it is now in Ruby.

NoMachine NX Server Manager 3.0.0-28

NoMachine NX Server Manager 3.0.0-28

NoMachine NX Server Manager is the upcoming management interface for the NX Terminal Server system. more>>
NoMachine NX Server Manager is the upcoming management interface for the NX Terminal Server system.
The NX Server Manager is the easy-to-use NoMachine graphical administration interface for Unix systems that allows administrators to configure, manage and monitor the NX servers across a world-wide network.
The NX Server Manager is an add-on to the NX Server Enterprise and Small Business Edition, provided at no extra cost.
The NX Server Manager sports most of the features you would expect from an enterprise-grade application, with the easiness of use of a Web interface.
NoMachine NX is a fast terminal server system based on the X11 protocol. In addition, NX also translates and embeds the MS Windows Terminal Server and VNC protocols into X/NX.
By embedding RDP and RFB, it enables users to compress and accelerate remote Windows and VNC sessions. NX lets you work fluently even across slow links like modems.
The NX project provides a suite of libraries and X11 proxying agents implementing efficient compression and optimized transport of X11, SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio over the Internet.
Enhancements:
- This release provides fixes for a number of problems: the NX Server Manager setup script looked for a nonexistant file during the install or upgrade procedure, reloading the NX statistics Web page may have failed, and NX Server Manager may have provided a misleading message when NX statistics couldnt be generated.

Linux Monitor 2.0RC3

Linux Monitor 2.0RC3

Linux Monitor is system monitoring software for linux. more>>
Linux monitor checks processes, disk space, load avarage and monitors syslog of its host machine at user given intervals, and reports errors to syslog or via the Linux Monitor server. If no interval is given default(15 mins) is used.

Installation:

The `configure shell script attempts to guess correct values for various system-dependent variables used during compilation.

It uses those values to create a `Makefile in each directory of the package. It may also create one or more `.h files containing system-dependent definitions.

Finally, it creates a shell script `config.status that you can run in the future to recreate the current configuration, a file `config.cache that saves the results of its tests to speed up
reconfiguring, and a file `config.log containing compiler output (useful mainly for debugging `configure).

If you need to do unusual things to compile the package, please try to figure out how `configure could check whether to do them, and mail diffs or instructions to the address given in the `README so they can be considered for the next release.

If at some point `config.cache contains results you dont want to keep, you may remove or edit it.

The file `configure.in is used to create `configure by a program called `autoconf. You only need `configure.in if you want to change it or regenerate `configure using a newer version of `autoconf.

The simplest way to compile this package is:

1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system.

If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.

Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.

2. Type `make to compile the package.

3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.

4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.

5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean.

There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.

KLCMonitorApplet 2.0.6

KLCMonitorApplet 2.0.6

KLCMonitorApplet provides a LineControl monitoring applet for Kicker. more>>
KLCMonitorApplet provides a LineControl monitoring applet for Kicker.
KLCMonitorApplet is KDE applet that monitors a LineControl server, a program that controls your Internet connection.
Why did we code LineControl?
We were tired of using telnet to get a masquerading servers internet connection up and down. Furthermore you get clean statistics and you have better control over the line when youre not alone.
User accounting and the possibility to choose one from multiple lines/providers are two of the features that help to have an easy control over your connections.
What does LineControl do?
LineControl runs a server application on a masquerading - server (Linux). Clients on other hosts may now talk to this server and say that it should establish a certain line (usually using pppd/chat, isdnctrl or some other script). LineControl Server then calls a certain shellscript and waits until a specified network - device is up (for analog lines), until /dev/isdninfo changes its status (if using the ISDN capabilities) or until a certain file exists. Then it sends to all connected Clients a message that the connection is established.
The connection wont get killed until each client told to do so, had a timeout or has been terminated.
Main features:
- user accounting using Linux-PAM or passwd/shadow file
- controlling multiple lines
- throughput measuring
- logging & analizing (view example)
- logging to a MySQL database (view example)
- html formatted status report via webserver (view example)
- different line types (analog, isdn, adsl, ... it should be possible to run LC with any line!)
- pinger (to avoid line-drops)
- reporting data (time, nr, ...) about incoming isdn calls to the clients (inclusive addressbook lookup)
- client dependant modifications of the NAT servers firewall (using an external script whenever a client goes on- or offline)
Package description
linesrv The one and only LineControl Server. You certainly need it. Of course it runs only under linux.
wlc2 The standard client for Windows. Try the dynamic version. The chance that it runs on your system is quite small. If it doesnt work, then take the static version which includes some borland libraries. Functionality is all the same (including features and bugs).
klcc The one and only client for Linux KDE. High quality, KDE users will like the smooth integration into their desktop.
jlc A client written in Java. It hasnt many features yet but provides an application as well as an applet.
xlc A client for linux X11 using the Gimp Toolkit (gtk).
The gui is quite clobby but shows all lines and their statistics at the same time in a list. It includes xlcm, which consists only of the minidisplay from xlc.
lclog-mysql Some php scripts which generate nice statistics from a linesrv mysql log database if used together with a webserver such as apache.
lclog2mysql Helps converting a 2.1.x linesrv logfile to a mysql log. You still have to manually create the needed database and tables!

Load Monitor 1.0b

Load Monitor 1.0b

Load Monitor is a system resource monitor. more>>
The Monitor application, which consists of 2 parts, a MonitorServer (linux daemon) and a MonitorClient (java gui), will enable the user to monitor and log server process, memory, network and cpu information of multiple servers at a time.

The MonitorClient part is written in Java and is able to connect to one or more Servers that are running the MonitorServer part of the Monitor application.

The client will poll the servers at user specified intervals and will provide a graphical representation of the recources (mem, cpu, nic and process information) of one server at a time.

In addition the MonitorClient is able to log the information of all the servers, each server in a different logfile in a coprehesive CSV format.

The MonitorServer is a seperate application written in C++ and linked to omniORB4 to minimize the load it imposes on the server that is beeing monitored. When the MonitorServer is not beeing polled by a MonitorClient it sits idle.

The client will of course run on any platform that supports Java, but the server currently only supports Linux, kernels 2.2, 2.4, 2.6 and possibly (not tested) 2.0 and >2.6.
