MP3Mixer 0.01

MP3Mixer 0.01

Mp3mixer is a simple system to let you mix multiple mpeg audio streams in real time. more>>
Mp3mixer is a simple system to let you mix multiple mpeg audio streams in real time, with a view to copying the capabilities a DJ will have access to - but obviously without quite the same feedback.

MP3Mixer is a quick hack which I wrote up ages ago as a front end to mpg123, and really it shows it, but with a bit of practise you can make it do great things.

The next step is to integrate it into mp3serv so that the results can be broadcast to the world.

This is a reconstruction of an old piece of software I used to have, the basic idea is to let you mix 2 audio streams generated from mpeg audio files with volume and speed control.

The code is basically a wrapper which uses mpg123 to actually decode the mpeg files to raw audio data. The programme then applies the speed control and mixes the two audio streams.

Because sustaining the throughput requires a lot of process switching you need a reasonably high spec machine to keep the audio pipe fed.

Because there is a buffer for talking to the sound card there is a perceptible delay between hitting a kety and the output changing.

Its possible to shrink the buffer and reduce this delay, but the smaller the buffer the more likley there will be skips due to the buffer running dry.

GNU MIX Development Kit 1.2.3

GNU MIX Development Kit 1.2.3

GNU MIX Development Kit is a MIX computer emulator and development kit. more>>
GNU MIX Development Kit offers an emulation of MIX and MIXAL. The current version of MDK includes the following applications:
- mixasm A MIXAL compiler, which translates your source files into binary ones, executable by the MIX virtual machine.
- mixvm A MIX virtual machine which is able to run and debug compiled MIXAL programs, using a command line interface with readlines line editting capabilities.
- gmixvm A MIX virtual machine with a GTK+ GUI which allows you running and debugging your MIXAL programs through a nice graphical interface (see screenshots).
- mixguile A Guile interpreter with an embedded MIX virtual machine, manipulable through a library of Scheme functions.
- mixal-mode.el An Emacs major mode for MIXAL source files editing, providing syntax highlighting, documentation lookup and invocation of mixvm within Emacs.
- mixvm.el An elisp program which allows you to run mixvm within an Emacs GUD window, simultaneously viewing your MIXAL source file in another buffer.
Using the GNU MDK tools, youll be able to:
- write, compile and execute MIXAL programs,
- set breakpoints and run your programs step by step,
- set conditional breakpoints (register change, memory change, etc.),
- collect execution timing statistics,
- trace executed instructions,
- inspect and modify the MIX registers, flags and memory contents at any step,
- simulate MIX input-output devices using the standard output and your file system.
In addition, the MIX virtual machine simulators include an embedded Guile interpreter and, therefore, their functionality can be extended using Scheme.
Enhancements:
- The Gmixvm interface has been improved with respect to the external programs dialog and about box.
- Compilation warnings in PPC and 64-bit platforms were fixed.
- Minor bugs were fixed.

ABSTRACT

Getopt::Mixed::Help is a simplified interface to Getopt::Mixed adding usage (help) functionality. It automatically adds the options -?, -h and --help (the last two configurable) to print the usage text. It allows to get option values from the environment (if the operating system it runs on supports environment variables). It can also add different flavours of support for multiple options. Finally it supports debugging output of the options used.

The module uses a direct import mechanism called with a hash as parameter. The structure of the hash is as follows:

The key is a combined (SHORT > LONG [ARGUMENT SPECIFIER [VALUE IDENTIFIER]]) option description for Getopt::Mixed, except for the VALUE IDENTIFIER which is simply included into the help text. The value following the key is simply the help text for this option.

If the second character of the first key is not >, the first key is taken as descriptive identifiers for additional parameters and the help for them.
Any key starting with ( and ending with ) will be interpreted as a footnote (additional help text) to the real options. They should be used at the end of the list only.

A key equal to ENV is used to get default values for the remaining options from the environment. For any option not initialised on the command line an environment variable with the prefix of the value following ENV and a rest of the name identical to the uppercase long option name (e.g. SCRIPT_OPT_DEBUG) will be checked. If this environment variable exists, it will be used to set the option. Note that in the name of the rest of the environment variable uppercase is used and hyphens are relaced with underlines.

A key equal to ENV_ is used in the same way as the key ENV. In addition it allows for a special environment variable with the prefix of the value following ENV followed by a single underline (_) as combined initialiser (for more than one option, e.g. export SCRIPT_OPT__=debug verbose=2). Note that no whitespaces are allowed in the values of the options initialised this way as the string in the environment variable is parsed in a simple way.

The module defines the variable $optUsage containing the complete help text.
If an option debug exists and is choosen on the command line, this module will print all option values and all remaining parameters to standard error. The name of this option may be changed, see "changing the debug option" below in the "CHANGING DEFAULT BEHAVIOUR" section.

amf 0.6.8

amf 0.6.8

amf is a front-end to mpg123, a UNIX MP3 player. more>>
amf is a front-end to mpg123, a UNIX MP3 player. amf is now available for both Linux and Windows. amf is intended to be a home jukebox system, and since is uses mpeg technology, which compresses audio a lot, you dont have to keep changing CD. It also can work like an unattended DJ box, like they have in several clubs and bars.
I am not about to say "this will revolutionise the way we listen to music in our homes"... but hopefully it will make it better. I chose to use mpg123 to decode the mp3 because, from what I see, its the most widely used player, the fastest (uses less cpu), and also it has the functionality needed by amf with very little change to the source. In the future, I may combine an mpg decoder in with the amf source.
Main features:
- Tunes can be mixed in from on to the next, making the transition between each tune virtually seamless. You fade in/out each tune, eliminating abrubt beginning and endings, and can also mixed tunes with in the previous and next.
- Playlists can be more than a simple list of tunes to play (eg, "find -name *.mp3"). Each tune can be set whether or not to mix with the previous/next, and if the volume should fade in/out at the begging/end.
- Each tune can be chosen to have more or less priority when picking what tune to play in random mode, so you can have all your favourite tunes be played more than others.
- Provides a (hopefully) nice interface. You can also run amf without an interface so, for example, you want to just run it in the background or something, or even use your own front-end to it.
- Uses gpm (optionally).
- Allows you to create a separate sub-playlist that is treat like a single tune. With this you have the ability to edit and mix tunes.
- Can now write to /dev/vcsa (direct to the screen) for the interface, instead of to stdout with ncurses. Speeds up display updating, and also lets you use stdout for piping things.
- Modifys a few characters to make the ascii graphics look a bit better.

ZIG 2.0.0

ZIG 2.0.0

ZIG is a client-server game networking engine. more>>
ZIG is a client-server game networking engine. The current main version is "2", and it was launched in July, 2007 with ZIG 2.0.0. This software is free and it is licensed under a BSD-like license.
From the standpoint of ZIG, the graphics renderer, the sound engine and the input handler are all extensions you must provide. You will be able to plug your Allegro, SDL, DirectX, OpenGL etc. stuff into ZIG with ease. ZIG is a cross-platform C/C++ library which depends only on HawkNL versions 1.7 beta 1 or later.
Enhancements:
- This release brings about two years of bugfixes and enhancements, plus documentation rewritten from scratch.
- It includes SCTP-like transport of multiple message streams through a single ZIG client-server connection.
- Each stream enforces a message ordering that is independent of other streams.
- The ZIG streams also allow you to control bandwidth use (if you want to) and to mix reliable and unreliable messages on the same stream.
