OOPS 0.2003

OOPS is Object Oriented Persistent Store.
SYNOPSIS
use OOPS;
transaction(sub {
$oops = new OOPS
dbi_dsn => $DBI_DSN,
username => $username,
password => $password,
table_prefix => "MY";
$oops->commit;
$oops->{my_1st_bit_of_data} = a scalar;

});

The goal of OOPS is to make perl objects transparently persistent. OOPS handles deeply nested and cross-linked objects -- even object hierarchies that are too large to fit in memory and (with a hint) individual hash tables that are too large for memory. Objects will be demand-loaded into memory as they are accessed. All changes to your object hierarchy will be saved with a single commit().
Full transactional consistency is the only operational mode. Either all of your changes are saved or none of them are. While your program runs, you will see a consistent view of the data: no other running transactions will change the data you see. If another transaction changes data that you are using then at least one of the transactions must abort. OOPS will die() to abort the transaction.
OOPS maps all perl objects to the same RDBMS schema. No advance schema definition is required on the part of the user of OOPS. The name of the package (OOPS) comes from the realization that perls data model is much more complicated than I initially understood. Internally, the RDBMS schema uses four tables: a table of objects, a table of attributes (keys and values), a table of large attributes that big the normal column widths, and a table of counters.
At this time, OOPS is expecting a web-like work flow:
create OOPS instance
access some objects
modify some objects
commit
exit
If you need more than one transaction in a program, create more than one OOPS instance.
To make your data persistent, make a reference to your data from the OOPS object. To later retrieve your data, simply access it through the OOPS object.

MS CHM library 0.39
MS CHM library is a library for dealing with Microsoft ITSS/CHM format files. more>>
MS CHM is a library for dealing with Microsoft ITSS/CHM format files. Right now, it is a very simple library, but sufficient for dealing with all of the .chm files Ive come across.
Due to the fairly well-designed indexing built into this particular file format, even a small library is able to gain reasonably good performance indexing into ITSS archives.
Applications which use chmlib:
arCHMage
xCHM
GnoCHM
Language bindings for chmlib:
PyCHM (Python)
Archive::CHM (Perl)
Text::CHM (Perl)
libCHMxx (C++)
Enhancements:
- Stack-allocated buffers have been changed to heap-allocated buffers to avoid stack corruption security problems.
- A security advisory for this issue is forthcoming from iDefense [IDEF2125].

Seldon 2005-05-15
Seldon is a C++ library for linear algebra. more>>
Seldon is a C++ library for linear algebra. Seldon provides matrix and vector structures, and some methods and functions for computations (linear algebra). Seldon is designed to be efficient and convenient, which is notably achieved thanks to template classes. Exception handling and several debug levels are helpful while coding.
Seldon provides several types of matrices: full matrices, sparse matrices, symmetric matrices, hermitian matrices and triangular matrices. Each type includes several formats. E.g. symmetric matrices may be stored as full matrices or in packed form (Blas format).
Seldon is fully interfaced with Blas (level 1, 2 and 3), except for Blas functions involving banded matrices (since this format is not available for the moment) and most rank operations. If Blas is not available to the user, a few alternative functions (same functions written in C++) may be used. Seldon includes many other features that are described in the documentation.
Seldon is supposed to be fully compliant with the C++ standard. Therefore, it can be compiled by GNU GCC (>=3.0; tested with version 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4) and by the Intel C++ compiler icc (tested with icc 7.1 and 8.0). No tests were conducted with proprietary compilers under Unix, but the compliance with the C++ standard should ensure portability. The last versions of Microsoft Visual C++ (from Visual C++ 2003) might compile Seldon according to its announced features, but it has not been tested.
As a next step, the Lapack interface is being completed. And any help is welcome!

Proc::Command is a backtick that does not use the shell for Perl under Windows.
SYNOPSIS
use Proc::Command

@reponse = Proc::Command->command($command, $trys)
@reponse = Proc::Command->command($command, $trys, $sleep)
use Proc::Command qw(command)
@reponse = command($command)
@reponse = command($command, $trys)
@reponse = command($command, $trys, $sleep)
Some Perls under Microsoft windows suffers disabilities over Unix Perls. One particular disability is a backtick without the console. Altough the Microsoft console, may be started without a window (start command with /b option or spawn program call), the Perl system command on windows usually creates a window. Creating a window causes immense user interface problem since it will randomly pop-up and take focus over the current window, erasing current entries into that window. Solutions such as "Proc::SafePipe" do not run on Perls for Window.
This module provides an answer by using the "open" command with a pipe to provide a backtick without a console that will run under Perls on Microsoft Windows.

Evolution Exchange 2.27.3
Evolution Exchange is the Ximian Connector for Microsoft Exchange. more>>
Evolution Exchange 2.27.3 is professionally designed as the Ximian Connector for Microsoft Exchange, which adds support for Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003 to Evolution. Evolution provides integrated mail, addressbook and calendaring functionality to users of the GNOME desktop.
Installation:
- cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself. Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
- Type `make to compile the package.
- Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.
- Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
- You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.

LibMSWrite 0.9
LibMSWrite is a free, platform-independent C++ filter library that can read and write the Microsoft Write 3.0/3.1 document. more>>
LibMSWrite is a free, platform-independent C++ filter library that can read and write the Microsoft Write 3.0/3.1 document format. LibMSWrite library supports what is believed to be the complete featureset of the Write file format.
It is fully portable across 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and has no dependencies other than C++. Both Linux, Windows and any other system that supports C++ is supported (STL is not required).
It employs XML-based code generation techniques to simplify the process of manipulating binary Write data structures, in a portable manner.
What can LibMSWrite do for me?
LibMSWrite provides a comprehensive API that serves as a significant abstraction layer for the Microsoft Write file format. Its primary use is in the "backend" of Write Import and Export filters for office suites. LibMSWrite simplifies the creation of such filters because developers no longer need to know the innards of the Write file format.
LibMSWrite forms the basis of the Write filters for KWord >= 1. (http://www.koffice.org), the word processor that complements the K Desktop Environment (http://www.kde.org), which is the most popular free GUI for Unix-based systems (e.g. Linux, FreeBSD).
The LibMSWrite Project does not just provide a library. It also includes:
- mswrite2html: program which converts Write files to XHTML
- list.h: alternative linked list implementation to STL
- xmlparser.cpp: quick & dirty XML parser
- wmf.cpp: WMF parser and BMP-to-WMF converter
Microsoft Write ?
Microsoft Write was the word processor included in Microsoft Windows 3.x (now more than a decade old). With the notable exception of tables, it supported all of the features needed for writing simple documents (essays, book reviews, reports etc.). The Microsoft Write format is almost completely unrelated to the, now (2003) de-facto, Microsoft Word format.
Microsoft Write files usually have the extension .WRI. Although, there are some .WRI files that are actually RTFs.
LibMSWrite was written because there was a need to guarantee that Write documents could continue to be read in the face of diminishing compatibility for old, binary document file formats. For instance, this is important if you have 7 years worth of work in the format...
The LibMSWrite project is not endorsed by Microsoft.
<<lessIt is fully portable across 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and has no dependencies other than C++. Both Linux, Windows and any other system that supports C++ is supported (STL is not required).
It employs XML-based code generation techniques to simplify the process of manipulating binary Write data structures, in a portable manner.
