The Xbox Linux Project aims to privide a version of GNU/Linux for the Xbox, so that it can be used as an ordinary computer.
Linux should make use of all Xbox hardware and allow to install and run software from standard i386 Linux distributions.
An Xbox with Linux can be a full desktop computer with mouse and keyboard, a web/email box connected to TV, a server or router or a node in a cluster.
You can either dual-boot or use Linux only; in the latter case, you can replace both IDE devices. And yes, you can connect the Xbox to a VGA monitor.
Main features:
- You can run Linux on your Xbox!
- You can do it without a modchip!
- You can do it without opening your Xbox!

Cobertura 1.9
Cobertura is a free Java tool that calculates the percentage of code accessed by tests. more>>
Cobertura is a free Java tool that calculates the percentage of code accessed by tests.Cobertura project can be used to identify which parts of your Java program are lacking test coverage. It is based on jcoverage.
Main features:
- Can be executed from ant or from the command line.
- Instruments Java bytecode after it has been compiled.
- Can generate reports in HTML or XML.
- Shows percent of lines coveraged and branches coveraged for each class, package, and for the overall project.
- Shows the McCabe cyclomatic code complexity of each class, and the average cyclomatic code complexity for each package, and for the overall product.
- Can sort HTML results by class name, percent of lines covered, percent of branches covered, etc. And can sort in ascending or decending order.
Enhancements:
- Much improved branch coverage. Information on whether the true as well as the false of an if statement is collected. Also, information on the branches of a switch statement (including the default) is collected. (Jiri Mares)
- Assume Java source files are saved as UTF-8 instead of the computers default encoding.
- Write all HTML and XML reports in UTF-8 instead of the computers default encoding (Naoki Iwami).
- Fix a bug where the Cobertura ant tasks would not work correctly in Microsoft Windows when Cobertura was installed on a different drive than the drive from which youre running ant (Srivathsan Varadarajan).
- Added a "maxmemory" attribute to the instrument, merge and report ant tasks (Matt Cordes).
- Improve support for Maven and similar environments where control over system properties is difficult such as app servers, IoC containers, IDEs, etc. Setting the datafile location is difficult in these environments. To correct this, a cobertura.properties file located in the classpath is used to properly set the net.sourceforge.cobertura.datafile property. (Joakim Erdfelt)

Dictator 0.9.7
Dictator project is a Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) on-screen text reader. more>>
Dictator project is a Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) on-screen text reader.
Dictator permits faster, easier on-screen reading of text using the method of Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP). Features include dynamic text flow, Unicode support, a bookmark manager, customizable Web references, customizable text import filters, fullscreen mode, and more.
The problem with these texts is that reading them on-screen the conventional way is a drag and printing them out is time-consuming, costly, and wasteful. Dictator provides an alternative approach called Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) in which words are displayed consecutively in the same place at a user-controllable rate.
This method prevents unconscious re-reading of adjacent text and decreases the tendency of the reader to oralise the text, allowing for increased reading speeds. RSVP also permits the use of larger fonts for text display which improves text clarity. While it does take some getting used to, with a little practise you may find that reading with Dictator becomes faster and easier than reading from a book.
Main features:
- Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) text file reading.
- Single word and multiword displays.
- Unicode support (with Unicode versions of wxPython only).
- Variable reading rate.
- Easy keyboard controls.
- Bookmark manager with automatic recall of last position in text.
- Dynamic text flow (rate related to word length, punctuation).
- Paragraph cues.
- Adjustable fonts and colours.
- Fullscreen mode.
- Text search.
- Customisable text filters allow scraping from PDF/html/Microsoft Word Documents.
- Customisable web queries on current word (e.g. look up definition).
- Open from clipboard.
- Open URL (via text filter only).

LibMSWrite 0.9
LibMSWrite is a free, platform-independent C++ filter library that can read and write the Microsoft Write 3.0/3.1 document. more>>
LibMSWrite is a free, platform-independent C++ filter library that can read and write the Microsoft Write 3.0/3.1 document format. LibMSWrite library supports what is believed to be the complete featureset of the Write file format.
It is fully portable across 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and has no dependencies other than C++. Both Linux, Windows and any other system that supports C++ is supported (STL is not required).
It employs XML-based code generation techniques to simplify the process of manipulating binary Write data structures, in a portable manner.
What can LibMSWrite do for me?
LibMSWrite provides a comprehensive API that serves as a significant abstraction layer for the Microsoft Write file format. Its primary use is in the "backend" of Write Import and Export filters for office suites. LibMSWrite simplifies the creation of such filters because developers no longer need to know the innards of the Write file format.
LibMSWrite forms the basis of the Write filters for KWord >= 1. (http://www.koffice.org), the word processor that complements the K Desktop Environment (http://www.kde.org), which is the most popular free GUI for Unix-based systems (e.g. Linux, FreeBSD).
The LibMSWrite Project does not just provide a library. It also includes:
- mswrite2html: program which converts Write files to XHTML
- list.h: alternative linked list implementation to STL
- xmlparser.cpp: quick & dirty XML parser
- wmf.cpp: WMF parser and BMP-to-WMF converter
Microsoft Write ?
Microsoft Write was the word processor included in Microsoft Windows 3.x (now more than a decade old). With the notable exception of tables, it supported all of the features needed for writing simple documents (essays, book reviews, reports etc.). The Microsoft Write format is almost completely unrelated to the, now (2003) de-facto, Microsoft Word format.
Microsoft Write files usually have the extension .WRI. Although, there are some .WRI files that are actually RTFs.
LibMSWrite was written because there was a need to guarantee that Write documents could continue to be read in the face of diminishing compatibility for old, binary document file formats. For instance, this is important if you have 7 years worth of work in the format...
The LibMSWrite project is not endorsed by Microsoft.

JSBSim Flight Dynamics Model 0.9.13
JSBSim is an open source flight dynamics model. more>>
JSBSim Flight Dynamics Model is an open source flight dynamics model (FDM) that compiles and runs under many operating systems, including Linux, Apple Macintosh, Microsoft Windows, Linux, IRIX, Cygwin (Unix on Windows), etc.
The FDM is essentially the physics/math model that defines the movement of an aircraft under the forces and moments applied to it using the various control mechanisms and from the forces of nature.
JSBSim has no native graphics. It can be run by itself as a standalone program, taking input from a script file and various aircraft configuration files; or, it can be run as an integrated part of a larger flight simulator implementation that includes a visual system.
The most notable example of the use of JSBSim is currently seen in the open source FlightGear simulator. JSBSim models the aerodynamic forces and moments by the classic coefficient buildup method.
JSBSim has seen the growth of a fairly large user base, with some of the more notable projects (of which I am aware) described on the Users page.
Main features:
- Fully configurable flight control system, aerodynamics, propulsion, landing gear arrangement, etc. through XML-based text file format.
- Rotational earth effects on the equations of motion (coriolis and centrifugal acceleration modeled).
- Configurable data output formats to screen, file, socket, or any combination of those.
Enhancements:
- This release includes new options for the standalone JSBSim executable, including improved real-time capability.
- This release also includes experimental (but tested) logic to reduce ground reactions jitter while on the ground.

Cooperative Linux is the first working free and open source method for optimally running Linux on Microsoft Windows natively.
More generally, Cooperative Linux (short-named coLinux) is a port of the Linux kernel that allows it to run cooperatively alongside another operating system on a single machine.
For instance, it allows one to freely run Linux on Windows 2000/XP, without using a commercial PC virtualization software such as VMware, in a way which is much more optimal than using any general purpose PC virtualization software.
In its current condition, it allows us to run the KNOPPIX Japanese Edition on Windows.

MS CHM library 0.39
MS CHM library is a library for dealing with Microsoft ITSS/CHM format files. more>>
MS CHM is a library for dealing with Microsoft ITSS/CHM format files. Right now, it is a very simple library, but sufficient for dealing with all of the .chm files Ive come across.
Due to the fairly well-designed indexing built into this particular file format, even a small library is able to gain reasonably good performance indexing into ITSS archives.
Applications which use chmlib:
arCHMage
xCHM
GnoCHM
Language bindings for chmlib:
PyCHM (Python)
Archive::CHM (Perl)
Text::CHM (Perl)
libCHMxx (C++)
Enhancements:
- Stack-allocated buffers have been changed to heap-allocated buffers to avoid stack corruption security problems.
- A security advisory for this issue is forthcoming from iDefense [IDEF2125].

harvest 1.9.15
Harvest is a system to collect information and make them searchable using a web interface. more>>
Harvest is a system to collect information and make them searchable using a web interface. Harvest can collect information on inter- and intranet using http, ftp, nntp as well as local files like data on harddisk, CDROM and file servers.
Current list of supported formats in addition to HTML include TeX, DVI, PS, full text, mail, man pages, news, troff, WordPerfect, RTF, Microsoft Word/Excel, SGML, C sources and many more. Stubs for PDF support is included in Harvest and will use Xpdf or Acroread to process PDF files. Adding support for new format is easy due to Harvests modular design.
Harvest is a modular, distributed search system framework with a working set components to make it a complete search system.
Main features:
- Harvest is designed to work as distributed system. It can distribute the load among different machines. It is possible to use a number of machines to gather data. The fulltext indexer doesnt have to run on the same machine as broker or web server.
- Harvest is designed to be modular. Every single step during collecting data, and answering search requests are implemented as single programs. This makes it easy to modify or replace parts of Harvest to customize its behaviour.
- Harvest allows complete control over the content of data in the search database. It is possible to customize the summarizer to create desired summaries which will be used for searching. The filtering mechanism of Harvest allows to make modifications to the summary created by summarizers. Manually created summaries can be inserted to the search database.
- The Search interface is written in Perl to make customization easy, if desired.
Enhancements:
- src/common/qdbm: updated to qdbm-1.8.20.
- components/broker/zebra/yaz: merged yaz-2.0.30.
